Shout out to Donna for requesting this. Thank you! I love this song and her voice is captivating. Like you said, this is before autotune, so we're hearing just pure talent. I have to suggest "Just Call Me Angel In The Morning" and "Queen Of Hearts' and "It's A Heartache" Sadly, she is one who gets lost in the shuffle when people talk about great female singers. In her case, Juice is a nickname, but as for who names their kid Juice, I had to laugh, because two of my friends are teachers and they have told me some of the names they have encountered, and Juice would be a blessing compared to some of them.
The way she reaches up and grabs those money notes has ALWAYS given me chills. Her vocals are absolutely INSANE. Love it in Angel of the Morning - but this one takes it to the NEXT level. Music like this does NOT exist in this day and age. Cheers from Ontario, Canada :)
Great reaction .....Break it to me Gently will blow your socks off too, in the way that this one did! Have fun with this awesome beautiful singer!! Have fun and God Bless you both!
Juice is of course not her given name. Probably a younger sibling who couldn't say Judith. My favorite song of hers has always been Angel of the Morning, but this a really great display of her "instrument". One of the reasons guys that we don't hear this kind of talent today (at least in Country) is that the people in charge are only concerned with how the videos will look, because they figure they can electronically fix the vocals if needed. A lot of really talented gals and guys are being told they are too country for country music. Everybody out there check out a guy named Mo Pitney and a young woman named Lauren Mascitti. They are both incredible writers and singers. They are in Nashville still and working hard. I am leaving a link of Lauren singing something she wrote and is singing from a few years ago. Actually it's 2 songs. She was attending her 1st songwriters festival and someone gave up some of their time to let her be heard. Give it a listen everyone. Oh and BTW I do not know either of them personally. Just heard them on UA-cam. ua-cam.com/video/slj_r6DAFwI/v-deo.html
She was very popular back in the early 80's this song was #1 on the billboard country chart's in 1982, and #7 on the Pop chart's, she was pretty popular for several years. Please react to Tracy Byrd, song "LOVE LESSONS" think you will enjoy it, he has a great voice. Thanks. P.S. her real name was Judy Kay Newton, she had it changed to Juice Newton, in 1978 thought you might be interested!!
I’ve got a variety of genres in my iTunes and this has been in there quite a while and I’m only 41… old souls love good old music ❤ good out of the blue choice, Donna!
Hey Keith and Dustin! Just catching up on some reactions and wine sipping on this Friday night. You just made the comment in this reaction where is the talent comparable to this, Mariah, Adelle, etc? It's not for this channel, but in your own time, go check out the youtube videos of the performances from Abi Carter who just won American Idol. This girl is phenomenal! She is a piano player and vocalist like we haven't seen in years!
Along with the queen of hearts, you should try angel of the morning. They’re both beautiful! And the queen of hearts for sure crossed over, I didn’t know about the sweetest thing. But I’m not shocked!
ask your local store to carry it!!! Juice was popular or both the country & adult contemporary & MOR channels - She was one of my top female singers at the time!!! Of course, back then we were not so quick to pigeonhole artists as we are today - we had true artist who could walk out on a stage & preform - no electric anything!!!!!! We just LOVED great music - her Queen of Hearts is just as awesome - as is he Angel of the Morning!!!! A GREAT rabbit hole!!!!!
I remember about 4 of her songs being big in the early 80's. She has such a crystal clear voice that can do amazing things. Sweetest thing, Angel of the Morning, Queen of Hearts, Love's been a little bit hard on me. Also, you guys are enjoying way too much Old Soul.
I always enjoy your reactions, Glad you liked it. Sorry about the duplicate on Old Soul. I ordered it at Total Wine and you guys picked it up. Literally the next day, Old Soul was on the channel from another Mississippian. I was pretty sure you would like Juice Newton. I have always thought her voice was incredible.
Thank you Donna for the suggestion. Juice gets overlooked, but she could have been one of the greats, Im not real sure why that never happened. I was a kid in the early 80's, but her voice stunned me back then. She's definitely playlist. And I dont think these guys mind having to drink Old Soul. Dont threaten them with a good time, lol.
That’s such a beautiful song Donna, thanks for reminding me of it. My Dad used to grab my Mom and dance around the kitchen with her whenever it came on ❤ He loved Juice Newton and Crystal Gayle. I’d forgotten… 😢 This will be a happy memory when I’m done bawling!
Ok, subscribing. I submit a bit of the origins of metal may be in order. Search and Destroy by The Stooges or Kick Out the Jams by MC5. On the retro country I always liked Jerry Reed's Eastbound and Down. It aint deep, but its fun! Good videos!
I think time makes a difference. She was big in the 70s and 80s in particular. It was hippy/ post hippy area there where people still had time to focus daily on music. Who can do that on part time jobs these days? You gotta already be wealthy and chances are if you were born wealthy it would be very likely music and art wouldn't be a focus in your upbringing anyway.
This song is beautiful. It’s one of my absolute favorites ever since I saw my big brother and sister in law have their first dance at their wedding when I was 10. Lyrically, it is moving and nostalgic.
Not sure if you have done Chris Ladoux song 8 second ride. It is a very rockin' song. You have done the Cowboy hat, but not sure about 8 second ride. Check it out
Obviously She's not country, but with y'all being rock and metal guys what's your opinion on Lzzy Hale? I was introduced to her when she performed with Eric Church at the CMAs a while back. I've thought about bribing for it, but when the Songs title is literally "That's Damn Rock and Roll" and the only thing remotely country is Eric Church's voice I kinda figured y'all might think it's breaking the Rules.
Probably would be breaking the rules. Now, while I recognize Lizzy Hale's talent, for some reason I can't really explain, she doesn't resonate with me. - Keith
@BourbonCountryReacts caught in a random beach ABC store. bigger cities and tourists cities have greater selection of high end bourbon. Even picked up a Garrison Brothers Small Batch this evening
Play this was a wonderful reaction gentleman. I would strongly urge you to check out juice Newton Angel of the morning. That is her masterpiece in my opinion.
Great reaction! Some superb female country singers to check out: Carlene Carter - The Sweetest Thing (completely different song from this one - just the same title) Dottie West - Lesson in Leavin' Emmylou Harris - literally anything, but I'm partial to Prayer in Open D Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, and Dolly Parton - I think you've reacted to Dolly and Linda but you haven't done all three singing together. Try The Sweetest Gift. Connie Smith - Once a Day Kathy Mattea - either Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses or Where've You Been
So an artist I recently came across that blew my mind is Delta Goodrem. Look up her cover of "The Show Must Go On" from the Global Citizen Live performance at the Sydney Opera House. It absolutely melted my mind and left me sitting there stunned! Another Artist I found earlier this week is Sydney Christmas. She just won Britain's Got Talent and all three performances, "Tomorrow", "My Way", and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" were absolutely phenomenal! Talk about a talented young powerhouse!
Came here right after listening to Falling in Reverse - All My Life (feat. Jelly Roll), talk about opposite ends of the musical experience. Not sure I have ever heard Juice sing this song, but I do recall she had some good music out back in the day.
Angel of the morning please! She's awesome!! 👍
They'd be stund after that song!😅
I'm very familiar with that one. It's an incredible song. - Keith
Angel is so awesome ❤❤❤
QUEEN OF HEARTS great song but video is hilarious too.😂
Absolutely gotta do Queen of Hearts

The last one, "Its a Heartache" was from Bonnie Tyler. The others are her, and very awesome.

Her "Break It to Me Gently" will have this effect on you too
🔥🔥🔥
Another great Juice Newton song is Queen of the Hearts
Seconding Queen of Hearts!

Listen to her song The Queen of Hearts
Seconding Queen of Hearts!

I fourth The Queen of Hearts
Fifth vote for Queen of Hearts!

Juice Newton had a big string of hits you could check out! My dad really liked her, so I was exposed to her music early on!
Cheater, Cheater by Joey and Rory I think you would both immensely enjoy!
Always reminded me of Linda Ronstadt's voice.Maybe, not QUITE the singer, but close & similar tone!
HAPPY NATIONAL BOURBON DAY - 06/14/24
Another woman with the powerhouse vocals something sorely lacking in today's music
It's all electronically modified and generated now. I really can't stand it. - Keith

My mom used to rock Juice Newton tapes. Angel of thr Morning is really good. Queen of Hearts is also nice. She has some jams.

I know you did the solo version, but can you do Jelly Roll & Lainey Wilson - "Save Me", please?
Sounds different when you're older, you can feel it inside. 💗
GREAT REACTION, THE OG'S HAD TALENT!!!TODAY'S, NOT SO MUCH!!! NO TRUE STORY SONGS,NO REAL FEELING,ALSO THEY WERE NOT SHAME TO BE THERSELF!!!
Angel of the Morning, Queen of Hearts, The Sweetest Thing, all good tunes.
She was a country singer but a lot of country crossed over back then. Patsy Cline crossed over w almost every song
Her name was Judith Kay, so Juice is obviously a nickname.
I was unaware. - Keith
Judith Kay sounds better

If I remember right, her "Angel of the Morning" was used in the movie Deadpool.
You hit the nail on the head. All these great singers before auto tune! I miss music before auto tune!
Request for Toby Keith: “I Wanna Talk About Me”, “Whiskey Girl”, “Who’s Your Daddy”
Haven’t heard this in so long and had forgotten just how beautiful it was. Thanks Donna. And like Old Soul, Mississippi girl here! ♥️
When I seen you were gonna play this I said I can’t wait to see your faces when she hits those notes these are so fun to watch

From one Donna to another… thank you for suggesting this! I had forgotten about her. I can’t wait to introduce my daughter to her!❤
Thank you Donna. Maybe we are helping to pass Juice 's music on to another generation.

Anothe pure voice you haven't listened to is Suzy Bogguss - Outbound Plane, Hey Cinderella, Aces
Check out some Mary Chapin Carpenter...I feel lucky...she's awesome 😮
The girl could sing loved all her songs
Classic song! Although I must know a different arrangement because the version I always heard had a backing electric guitar.

I'm Robby I've written you several times please play Jerry Reed Amos mosses or Alamo balled Johnny Horton please for my dad that died
I never knew she did anything other than country, but to be fair, I've never listened much outside of country.
Great reaction.. I actually thought she had crossed over from soft rock TO country, not the other way around..
her name is Judith the name juice comes from childhood her little brother couldn't say Judy it came out juicy and the name stuck.
I listened to her so much when I was a kid. I had forgotten too. How dare me forget! Thanks for playing this.
A vote for Eddie Rabbit "Rocky Mountain Music"
Yep, that goes back to when you had to have talent to make it big. Nobody sings like that anymore.

Our Total Wine (Houston, TX) carries Old Soul.
She was Judith Newston, Juice was a play on her 1st name by her Teenage friends. She later officially changed her name to Juice
Thank you for taking me back to my childhood 🥹
You got to do Every Little Thing by Carlene Carter. Daughter of June Carter Cash
To me she is the lara branigan of country music.
Her voice is soooo good.
Just picked up a Old Soul High Rye small batch 🤞yall might have to swing into NC, all ABC are state owned had on shelve $44.
$44???? I think Dustin and I might be headed for a road trip!

Eddie Rabbit had some bangers too. That had to be a good show. - Keith
This song was a #7 hit on the Pop Charts.
Linda Ronstadt is the predecessor to all of those you named including Juice Newton.
I've heard (and like) a lot of Linda's stuff. - Keith
You may have heard her song "Just Call Me Angel in the Morning"
Oh yeah, definitely. And that's a beautiful song. - Keith
Agree excellent
Queen of Hearts next! And then Angel of the Morning!! Her voice is brain melting!! And her extended high notes are breathtaking!
