Reminds me of back when the late great Jack Absalom putting half a cup of metho in his Sigma to break up the water when fuelling up in the bush... loved that show. This is a great topic Anthony and something I hear a bit about from others, I reckon you can't beat a good run if you're urban dweller.. or blowing out the cobwebs in the old term. I live rural and make a fair amount of trips to the city which is a 3 hour drive away so there wouldn't be much of a benefit for me using any of that gear. Though, a mate who comes up to visit has been using Moreys diesel smoke killer to try out in his wifes MY12 Hyundai i30 has seen some benefit from after using it for a few months now.
I've recently discovered Jack Absaloms videos (I grew up in NZ) and loved the shows. He traveled around Australia in his 2wd station wagon where now your told you need something that looks like NASA's shipping it off to Mars. Also, I'm jealous of how much driving you get to do! I want to get a gazillion miles on my car except my commutes 24km a day 🙄.
Evening .. I would have to agree. I use the lucas upper cylinder lubricant and find that when it has sat overnight and mixed with the tank the MUX seems to run smoother the next day . I have had the Mrs ask me a couple of times as she is the main driver of it, what have i done with the car as it is running smoother. At this stage I'll continue to use it. Great vids and advice on both channels Anthony.. Keep them coming.
I done a fair bit of looking around on google and UA-cam etc for best fuel additive and the Lucas complete fuel cleaner always came up best or close to it. It is also oil based and not chemical based so dosnt damage fuel lines etc and won’t do any damage if you accidentally put too much in. My hilux had done 260k on the clock and it definitely gave me more fuel economy and ran smoother. Just got new injectors at 280k and I keep using it.
Thanks Anth. On a related note, there are a bunch of claims out there that adding 5ml/l of low-ash 2 stroke oil to our type of diesel provides lubrication benefits. I recently read a chemical engineering study (from South Africa I think) that found no such evidence.
I have a 97 rodeo diesel, the injector pumps were designed to run on high sulphur diesel. Modern diesel has low sulphur which apparently does not lubricate the pump, hence the 2 stroke additive.
cost effective crd fuel enhancer my mate serviced my car said injector 4 on limit feedback , used this stuff for 10k , next service injector feedback around 0 , engine quiter runs well , only need 10ml per 80l , being using it for 100k , injectors have 230k on them
Not entirely true buddy - Cetane is NOT like Octane rated fuels which require a special tune to see the benefits. Higher Cetane rating means that the fuel not only ignites more quickly, but also burns longer, and therefore is beneficial to virtually all modern Diesel engines.
Cool, I was a bit sceptical about these flushes and what not, I've not seen this brand in Cairns, I'll try it, when I find some and see how it goes, whilst I hold off on having injectors and seals done, once readily available again, I'm glad I found your channels, keep up the great work mate 👍
Well, you can over treat a 4D56 motor if you use Lucas Upper cylinder Lubricant (fuel Treatment), and when you do the injectors rattle like crazy. It's crazy because the injectors will only start rattling when engine is at operating temperature and running at idle. Soon as you refill the tank without the treatment the rattle goes away. But when you look at the smaller print on the bottle it says for Diesel "and Petrol engines". I think that must be BS just to sell the stuff because the 4D56 Turbo diesel hates it. And how can a petrol engine treatment successfully treat a Diesel engine. My Triton runs better and cooler without anything added to the diesel
I used genuine Toyota diesel injector cleaner in my early 2015 hilux 1kd a couple years ago only had 30000k. My car ran like crap idled smooth but had no power and used a heap of fuel. I did just under 200km and used half a tank. I never used a fuel additive again. I’d like to know if anyone else has had this experience.
That's some good info and might have some plus sides but I think a very good pre-fuel filter with water trap under the Bonet is a better way, like you said if you keep the junk out in the first place, cat dozers years ago use to have on the fuel cap, buy it cleen keep it clean. But I think you know what I'm saying if you can keep it in the filters if you do get some in the tank it's much better,
Awesome info once again. Have you tried the terrain tamer? I have tried it and find it actually makes the vehicle drive better(feels better wonder if it is a placebo effect)...
I had a diesel mechanic tell me to use Diesel Power all the time. He wasn't getting a commission and he is genuine.

Fuel doctor. Best results ever after trying everything. Smt2 in the oil of engine g/box diff steering pump.

Apparently it kills DPFs
@@damodoesall6240 What doesn't.

Chemtech Diesel Power for me
Proma for me… works well in my 120 Prado

Thanks for these video they sure do help me to enjoy my Prado, especially working on it :)

It's like adding sugar to coke..not necessary...

Thanks for the info Anthony, perfect timing. Currently looking at the genuine Toyota conditioner atm. Have you any experience with this by chance?
What about 2 stroke oil?
Would you recommend getting flash lube for winter in Canberra
Thoughts on UNIGLIDE? Its an oil Additive.
