Great review! Didn't like the rear on this at first, but now it's grown on me! Looks distinctive but smart and understated. Think I would be close to choosing this over a Range Rover for the 'stealth wealth' factor you get with these!
The best Diesel engine is not in the Discovery, it is in the Range Rover Sport, same 3.0L but with 306BHP and 516ft/lB and combined fuel cycle of 44MPG, 0-60mph 6.4s
Great review as always! Lots of details and providing specs for us viewers. It is beautiful vehicle but Land Rover/Range Rover are amongst the bottom when it comes to quality vehicles and many issues from build quality (as shown here) and reliability.
You can be sure those power adjustable seats will not be working in 5 years time or even sooner, nice car but ugly rear end too many electrical gadets etc that will surly not last the test of time....BTW I have a nearly new D4 (LR4 ) and love it.
Jonathan, the oil pump issue was resolved and only related to the D3 2.7. main issue with D4 is crank shaft failure although this may related to poor service.Yes totally agree LR do need to be well maintained.I had a D2 before the D4 I have now and it was a fairly good vehicle and never let me down although I did do a lot of preventive maintainance. My first disco 1991 D1 brand new, broke down eight miles after I took ownership now that was a poor vehicle lots of problems and I got rid with under 10,000 miles on the clock.Always loved discos just could not stay away. Not keen on the D5 though.Only today I went into pratstone today to complain about my recent service, they were supposed to replace the door sill protectors as the " mechanic" scratched them, also where was the video of the service they promised to give me,sorry sir the video camera was not working that day and the loan car was filthy inside and out but worst of all no fuel the warning light on says no fuel left and as i had collected the car late in the day the dealer was closed before I could turn around and get fuel.I put £5.00 fuel in myself never had to do that on a loan car even from Vauxhall.
This car is a huge mistake - the legendary shape of the lr3 lr4 - should have been improved upon - even big changes in certain areas but the complete new shape is horrible - BIG MISTAKE LANDROVER - this is the first time I rather an older car then a new one. Give me the lr4
Handsome? Is this an American euphemism? It doesn't look very classy or British to me, but I'm just a British Land-Rover fan (not of this one though) so what do I know.
OMG im so ashamed owning a Land Rover now. It looks like a 10 year old Chinese design. Looks like all the other boring 4x4's out there. remembering when Discovery 3 came how it took everyone's breath design wise. Sorry to say but Such a shame.
You'll get used to it. Lets face it, designing a spacious 7 seater cabin is always going to be a challenge, making it smooth and aerodynamic almost an impossibility. LR have done an amazing job packaging all that interior space into a slick package that is very much growing on me the more I see these on the road. Every other 7 seater SUV has serious compromises such as a child-only 3rd row, or zero off-road capability (I'm looking at you Audi, Volvo, BMW and Mercedes), or is just too ugly for words (Lexus 570). Give credit where its due, LR have achieved something amazing here, a vehicle which combines serious off-road capability with urban chic.
Guys! ....Land Rover has really managed to achieve something spectacular here! ....they proved that it is possible to make an SUV that is uglier than the new Ford Explorer!!!!
Tools & DIY Enthusiast you are some one who is obviously unable to afford a discovery ,they are by far the best 4x4 on the market it’s a shame jealous people like you have to make such uneducated narrow minded comments .
Discovery feels like premium and impressive design. But Land Rover reliability is one thing that worries me. I may not consider buying this vehicle cause of low reliability.
Handsome? Looks like a Tata (Czech tata website) That Diesel has been around for about a decade. Land Rover air suspension is sadly very unreliable, admitted by a senior rep friend of mine.
It does not have a chassis anymore that is where they saved weight regular off road use or even driving on gravel roads will see this pavement hopper fall apart like the European suv,s in 4 years time not to mention all the electronics that WILL fail
You lucky basturds north of the border get all the really cool diesels that the EPA in the states has decided we are not allowed to buy any longer! Except for just a few offering like this car here, otherwise I'd buy a new GLE 350 blutec (diesel) today!
a very honest review! this car is beautiful and is probably the only premium SUV that can actually go off road !!!
John Carter
What about the Range Rover?
Great review! Didn't like the rear on this at first, but now it's grown on me! Looks distinctive but smart and understated. Think I would be close to choosing this over a Range Rover for the 'stealth wealth' factor you get with these!
The most accurate and honest LR5 review yet
My favourite car ❤️😍😍😍😍😍🥰🥰
Buying it for my wife for her 40th birthday ❤️
I'm glad Diesel SUV started coming to Canada :-) I think about time to welcome Diesel Land cruiser and Mitsubishi Pajero :-)
Loved this review! Could you do a more detailed video about the headlights?

Love the awesome outro idea.
Does LRD share the same engine with BMW X5??
Echo1Delta
No not anymore.
Really nice review. Good job!
Nice oil burner 👍
I"ll will buy that car
Can you fit a sheet of 4x8 plywood if you need to?
yes
W
The side profile of this suv is definitely inspired by TATA SAFARI

The d4 looks better than this. Why does LR spoil a good looking boxy car and make it rounded?
Keep up with servicing and replace the oil pump and timing belts before 100k and the disco 4 will last you forever

Electronics aren't difficult, if you don't use them often they will broke. Similar to phones, tv and appliances as well.
Does your assistant get out much.
Disintegrate like Dollar store toilet paper 😂😂😂
Lovely you are okay keep it up
Whats the point of going off road if your not even driving?
👍keren
The rear looks tall, skinny and bland.
So does yours
fine good looking you are okay keep it up
this Ford Explorer isn't bad
This car is a huge mistake - the legendary shape of the lr3 lr4 - should have been improved upon - even big changes in certain areas but the complete new shape is horrible -
BIG MISTAKE LANDROVER - this is the first time I rather an older car then a new one. Give me the lr4
Hide your “coke” lol
This car had it's face ....
But what is yhis now....
Land rover is an indian brand, owner Tata group
2:13 speaking of efficient...99.9l/100km 😂😂
this is fine good looking jeep you are okay
The rear is hideous
no idea what they were thinking
Land Rover ruined the Discovery. No height in the rear and skinny tyres only. Must admit it’s perfect for the school run.
The hype sales talk does not help
Урода поставили для рассказа!!!
old ones look better
I can fold my own seats down. I don't need a $2500 repair of something that is totally unnecessary.
If you want pretty, get a Velar.
Hide your coke……😂

Yep, though I did buy 2015 ML 250 Diesel SUV and getting over 35mph on the highway and due to low RPM these Diesels' last forever
it is just fugly
wow this new discovery is so ugly
most uglyest disco ever
Oren Broder worst baddest English ever
The ugliest car produced today. Thoroughly hideous.
I have 2 x Kia Sportage 4wd 2.0 turbo diesels 2017 for that money , and they are better quality .
Better quality says... ROFL
Your just jealous you cant afford it.Yeahbthey are definitely better quality
The most ugliest and least practical Discovery Landover has ever made
copy of nissan patrol
You do realise Land Rover pretty much invented this segment... the Nissan is in fact the copy...
