@@its_aled8950 bro, the advice to give is always garage it (so paint stays fresh, and doesn't peel eventually, which it will if you park it outside perpetually). 2), ideally, you don't use it as a daily. Instead buy an old Camry or something for daily driving. And 3) just do the regular and proper car maintenance.
Now I now for most people, especially young people, having 2 cars is not possible. But it's legit the best way to extend the life of a car (you can add like 10-30 years of extended life to it by doing this), and is important for sport cars. You never see people daily driving a Skyline, or a EVO, etc etc. If your car was an STI I would 100% advise this (due to the future collector value of the cars). But a WRX less so. Anyhow, I have 2 cars, with my daily being a Camry (and will prob buy a few more cars in the future lol).
If you MUST daily it tho, then just be more strict on maintenance. More regular oil changes. And regularly check oil and other fluids yourself. And take it to a shop that knows the brand (a specialist shop - where you will pay more). Don't just take it to the generic mechanic shop that does all brands, they will 100% miss preventable problems. Once problems start compounding, that is when cars become a major headache. Also even when dailying, always garage it when not using it. And wash regularly. Do all that and you can still daily it no problem. It's actually 100% do-able and if done properly you won't have problems. Just know about Subaru's also, i.e. never ever rev hard on a cold engine, only rev remotely hard when it is fully to temp, always check the oil etc. Watch Mr Subaru also and learn about even doing some basic work or monitoring of parts yourself. Learn about common problems for your model that you should watch for (so you can catch them early), and so forth. Do all this it can last a very long time as a daily.
Most young people don't do any of this, they skip services, they delay part replacements due to lack of funds, they don't garage the car at all, they drive like maniacs everywhere on cold engines, then they wonder why their USED 20+ year old car looks nothing like it did when they bought it only 5 years ago, with peeling paint, leaking oil, and sounding like a tractor lol. I basically did that with my 2nd hand 2004 Liberty (Legacy) when I was young. Don't do the same.

Not really if you buy Toyota/Lexus or Honda/Acura and you know about which models are the most reliable, you can easily get 300-400k+ miles out of the right cars if you know what you're looking for. They also have cheap parts and are easy to modify. You could buy a 90's to 2000's Camry and replace all of the worn internals for cheaper than buying new and it would probably last you twice as long too. Same with an LS, Integra or a Civic. I could buy a new transmission and engine for my 2001 Camry for 4000 or less which I probably won't even have to do until it's past 300k miles if not 400k+.

Well I'm 30 but I didn't know anything about cars and got obsessed with rotary engines and bought a barely running 2004 Mazda RX8 and drove the hell out of it. Learned how to work on cars and learned how to drive a manual transmission. I'm currently pulling out the motor and I'm rebuilding it myself. Best decision I've ever made, I love every second of driving that car. Boxer engines are my second favorite engine design after rotaries, and they both have a somewhat undeserved reputation as "unreliable" engines, so I feel kinship with Subarus when I see them lol. Plus that rally legacy will always be a part of the WRX.

Bought a black '99 Audi TT at 19. Loved every second of it untill i didn't. Even gave her a name (that i never used, but i felt so proud that i wanted to mimic what it's usually done with boats). After 2 years, i had to rebuild the engine, speding something like the entire price of the car again. I really wanted to care for the car, as i belived it deserved to be loved and needed to be preserved.
Just sold it at 24, and i sometimes miss it. Problems were too overwhelming, fuel economy was terrible and i just couldnt afford to use it as daily driver. My GF even made me a painting of the car, it meant alot to me. The last year or so i just started to hate it with every inch of my body, to the point that i found every excuse to use my parents car just to don't have to deal with it- at that poit i just HAD to sell it. I couldn't stand hating her.
If ill'ever have a son, i would definitely let him have what i had: a vintage shitbox to fall in love with, then hate and miss when it's gone. I created many memories i will never forget, and going back i would do it all over again (mostly). See you Eleanor (yeah i'm a nerd)

A few reminders before you go buying your first car:
    1. Buy within your means, if you're getting a loan to purchase your first car, you're doing it wrong.
    2. Look for a car that's popular in your area, when parts start break or general maintenance comes calling, you don't want to break the bank buying parts just to get your car back on the road.
    3. Look for a car around 10-15 years old and with relatively low mileage for the year, after this time period most cars will require more serious mechanical maintenance.
    4. Don't buy something you already know has a lot of problems, do your due diligence and research.
Don't spend much on your first car and drive it until the wheels fall off, once you've saved up enough money, then upgrade your car or get a house loan. Between the time you buy your first car and when you reach your mid 20's you're going to understand exactly what I'm saying. You're at an age where you're learning about, but not quite thriving in the adult world, granted you're gonna make mistakes; lots of them, be humble about those lessons. I spent around $3k on my first car, 2002 Hyundai Tiburon. I owned that car for 7 years, I never spent a cent more than I had to on general maintenance/ oil changes etc. I drove it until the clutch fell out, I could have spent another $2k fixing it and theoretically drive it for another 200,000 km's, but with the money I had saved up I upgraded.

Great learning platform, "subarus are special" will only improve your general skill with handling cars in a more straight to the point mechanical way in my opinion. After all it turned out to be more reliable then others cars who always flexed with em but only did standart maintenance cause thats all they could do... no shit things break all the time if you dont care or ignore whats about to happen if you dont. Keep it up man, boring cars arent worth the effort ♥

28, got my Blobeye WRX 8 months ago. Though parts are worn and some things are going out on it, the 2.0T has been nothing but reliable for me so far in 10k miles. She has 188k now, and I swapped the front clip with a JDM Bugeye STi one with an STi wing to complete its idiocy.
I regret nothing about this car. After driving plenty of fast cars in a straight line(particularly Dodges and pickup trucks), this car has been my favorite. Still stock internals(minus a muffler delete), plan to keep it that way. It's just a joy to hear and drive on a twisty backroad.

U have to warm them up before driving hard and lett them cool down after. Don`t tune them ( then the reliability drops dramatically )

Loved the video, in 2020 I bought a subaru baja for the same reasons. That car has made me a wiser man, and I hope that me sharing my experience can prepare you.
at the 1:00 minute mark you make a hint at what will likely be your biggest nightmare. You have no doubt noticed that when you open the hood of your beautiful 2003 Subaru WRX the engine inside is an EJ20, or as we enthusiasts call a Boxer Engine. The Boxer engine has a history of blowing gaskets, just like on your Mitsubishi. And all things considered not the worst issue to have as long as you can catch it before it warps your heads.
The fatal flaw of the EJ20 is that the heads are on the side of the engine, causing the engine itself is pretty flat, meaning most of the accessory are on top; intake manifold, controllers, etc.
You may be beginning to see the issue.
So lets say spark plugs, a common maintenance thing right? Not with the EJ20 my young friend. To easily access your spark plugs, things will have to get removed.
And when those Subaru head gaskets pop, the easiest way to replace them is to completely remove the engine, because the head bolts for that cursed machine is just about a foot (30cm) and I can promise you, you dont have that wiggle room in the engine bay.
This is all to say, Enjoy the Suby! And maybe find a mechanic you trust.

I have a subatu legacy of '04, it has been beaten up, it crushed once (now it wears some outback plastics) and it got watered down gas another time (had to change the becks) and on top of everything my family had to leave for 10 years untoutched because of economic issues.
I picked it up, freshened it up a bit and it works perfectly. It shallows gasoline like its smarties in elementary school garden, but it gets me from point A to point B reliably. I am not huge in car racing or overall running with my car, i do abuse the 4x4 capabilities but that's it.

Good roads around your uni mate. Keeping your licence will be the main challenge!
