I studied biology planning to go to medical school, life changed for the good so I didn’t go to med school. I joined a biotech company as a laboratory technician and in 16 years I have had roles a scientist, process engineer, project manager and Director of strategy in multiple companies and locations. I can assure that there’s a lot of more options than the ones I have chosen. If you love science and are curious, the biology degree could bring a rewarding career for you.
Where are you from?
Thank you for the inspiration
I can’t get any of those jobs with a bsc do I need a masters ?
Did you need to get a PhD?
Ohh wow is it possible to contact you for advice?
I attained a B.S. Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Afterwards, I attended a state college for a masters in secondary education in one year with a 4.0 (very easy) I took all praxis tests (Biology, math, writing, reading). The following year, I taught high school Biology, anatomy and physiology, zoology, and wrote curriculum and instruction during the summer. I hope this helps... it was acheap, easy and fast pace to a career. Also, i was one of the first teachers to implement the STEM program (i was part of the trial run for the program the first year)
Haven't been able to find work with a biology degree, but this video helped pep me up to the wide-range of possibilities. Even if I need a little more school or to move, I'll be okay and the bio degree wasn't useless. Thank you!

I initially went to school to be a veterinary technician and got my associate's degree back in 2010. When I moved states to a place that required national certification, I intended to just get whatever job possible to save up for the exam and then go back into it, but I ended up working at a law firm and have been a legal assistant for the last 8 years. Next spring I start classes toward a bachelor's degree in Botany. I opted for that over a general biology degree because it involved a little less chemistry and I can get it online through a university 40 minutes away. It should also serve me well as a base point to eventually get a master's degree in either genetics or ecology and environmental science. I still haven't made up my mind on which path to go on with that.
I used a 24/7 tutoring service which I am fairly sure is through the Princeton review. Appreciate you guys.
which service?
I’m currently teaching High School Biology and I love the experience, but I still want to learn more about human biology/neuroscience, so haven’t decided yet if I should or not follow medical school or a different branch, still I will never regret studying biology, it has been the best decision I could have made 🙌🏻.
This video just solidified my decision to major in biology.

Great video, thank you! After I earn my bachelors degree in Biology, I plan on earning my PhD in virology.
I am applying to become a Biology Teacher. I got support from my parents and siblings for it! 😄 I'll keep giving my best!
Good evening sir, I want to study biology and become a teacher also. So what are the subject combination for that sir.
If you are not going to med school pls dont bother studying biology and find something else that can get u a higher paying jobs
Why
I have a biomedical science degree and have worked in labs for a year and a half. They both shut down because they are covid labs so I gave up and am now working in childcare. well confused about future plans. my heart is in helping people, and I enjoy some aspects of biology, but not everything. Don’t know where to begin.

I'm a freshman in college as a behavioral neuroscience major and am still determining the career I want. I don't want to take chemistry or physics, and I can't tell if it's worth it since I need to figure out what to do with the degree. I love bio and psych, though; any thoughts?
I'm a freshman in biology, I can honestly say I love what I learn and I can see my self in many many fields doing things I would do for free as hobby. I would say you're probably in the wrong field if you can't Invision a future 🙂❤️
Im a bio major and minor in chem and still can't find a job. I need a teacher certificate and the content. That costs bout 7 to 10k nowadays. Crazy life. .
That’s exactly how I am, and it makes it just that much more difficult to reach the goal of getting out of debt

Hey how is it going?
Having worked in the medical field for years. Due to the low pay and lack of leadership I would suggest not bothering with it.
I was originally a microbiology major and then I recently decided to add computer science as another major because of the low opportunity with just an undergraduate degree in bio
@@TDDVlogs Honestly that’s the case with almost every single major. CS isn’t any better. Legit everyone I know is taking CS, it’s just a phase and hyped right now. Choose whatever makes you the most happy.
@@hugochen2293 you literally couldn’t be any more wrong, I’m only a few months into my new comp sci program, and I’ve already had more opportunities to network and build my resume than I ever had during my entire 4 years in biology. Lots of people are taking comp sci because an undergraduate comp sci degree will get you WAY more jobs than an undergraduate biology degree because it teaches you practical skills in the workplace that apply to MANY jobs, and there is data that shows this. I agree that you should do what makes you happy, but it would be foolish to also say that all degrees have low opportunity at the bachelor level
@@hugochen2293 it’s not even just comp sci, accounting, finance, many other business majors, engineering, nursing, mathematics, statistics and economics all leader to greater success after undergraduate graduation than biology does, I just picked comp sci because I enjoyed it the most

The truth is that biology degrees are so common now that you're just one of many out there with it. I know, I have an undergrad and masters in biology. Even if you get a masters degree in biology (or related field) you're not likely to get a job. I tried for 3 years after graduating to get a job in the field. I volunteered, I offered to work/do internships for free just to get my foot in the door. Nope, didnt matter. Five years after graduation, I gave up trying to land something in the field. Because I knew it was pointless. So yeah, dont waste your time or your money doing a bio-related degree. You'll just end up working in job that you could obtained with just a high school diploma in the end.
it isnt common at all and even if it were why is that a bad thing lol
@@XXX-hc9cdit’s extremely common just like childhood Ed and nursing
I held a Bachelor degree in microbiology , unfortunately it has been a year and 5 months with nothing not even training because of the numbers of graduates from the same major and I feel so useless, I tried everything called ,emailed and physically applied for roles but every time I get apologizes because of the number of graduates

Yes
But you can have an undergrad degree in anything to go to medical school
Getting into medical school? Yes. Start being a DOCTOR because you have a bachelor's? Absolutely NOT.
