    Ugh, your intro hit me! “I feel like advisors are out here to ruin people’s lives” This is so important for any new college student there are not enough resources in educating decisions. i went into college as a nursing major because of my mom, but no one told me I could’ve tried an assessment or go undeclared so I didn’t waste my time. New Sub here! Also, you’re gorgeous! 🥰

    I wish I had taken classes separately too. One day someone who switched their major from biology saw all of my books and gave me such great advice. I didn't follow the advice, but in hindsight I know I should have. They told me not to major in biology, but instead major in a subject that I actually like. Then take the pre-med prerequisites separately. Instead I kept packing my schedule and my GPA suffered so much I just gave up on medical school. So if medical school is your goal, slow down, get a certification, major is something other than biology, and take science classes separately. You'll be much better off.

    Well, I triple majored in Biology (Medical Technology Track), Electrical Engineering (Biomedical Engineering Emphasis), Physics (Physics Track) for undergrad. Took 1.5 years off for mental health/other health issues. Total of 7 years for undergrad which prepared me for my PhD in materials engineering. I also worked at least 30+ hours while juggling undergrad and have been working since high school.
    Good video/advice for biology majors.

      PLEASE take a gap semester or even a whole year! It’s not a race and your mental Heath should be your first priority. Classes can pile on and stress you out quickly so having a strong mental health base will really help you to succeed. Take it from me, I went straight from high school to college and had to drop out only 3 years in because I had a mental breakdown. Now I’m a returning student at 28 and I find myself having the same workload as before but having the confidence in myself to do well and really enjoy the difficult material that I hated before!!

      As a pre-health student it’s so easy to get caught up in making yourself a competitive applicant. I think that’s why post grad can be depressing if things don’t go according to plan abdd so your left struggling to find a job. Keep doing videos like this! I have to agree with you on that. It can be difficult to find a job in general but sometimes a little harder with a bio degree. Most often, it is assumed that those who major in Bio will go on to further education but that may not be the case. I think that's a great topic to talk about in a future video. Don’t do it. You can make your own schedule yourself as long as you taking the right classes. I know how to add my own classes and my advisor just look over it but you don’t necessarily have to take two different sciences in one semester.

    • @danabelle7736
      @danabelle7736  3 роки тому +2

      Yeah, I agree with the others. You have more control than you think with your schedule. Some people are able to handle multiple science classes at once but if that isn't you, it's ok and just help your schedule reflect that.

    • @danabelle7736
      @danabelle7736  4 роки тому +11

      Great question! So I'm going to explain with the mindset of med school, but feel free to tailor it to whatever you'd wanna do. Also sorry, I should have specified this but when I say separate science classes, I meant the harder science classes like Bio, gen chem, organic chem, physics, anatomy. Most often, advisors would put bio and chem together for the year or some other combination. I'd simply not do that and just try and take the classes one at a time while doing gen ed classes. For example, I'd take bio w/ lab my first year only then take gen chem w/ lab sophomore year, ochem w/ lab junior year and physics senior year. I know there are other science classes but they are usually semester-long and with less rigor. This way, I believe that I could have dedicated more time and could focus better on that rigorous class compared to both at once. Hopefully, this made sense lol. Thanks for watching!
