This is a dear song. I was 16 when my daughter was born, & though I was married to her father, I often felt like I raised her & her brother alone. I had an oak rocker,& I rocked my babies and sang rock songs as their lullabies. I usually cry when I hear this, because I think of how I we grew together. I learned a lot, and some of it wasn't fun to learn. It was both a blessing and a hardship, but they've grown into wonderful people, who rock their own children and sing rock n roll songs.
Sheena, 12 years later . . . I grew up with this song also, but my story starts now. My wife has dementia, it started in her 40s. She lost her speech and now chatters in a language of her own. One thing she says is: "Sha na na na na na," and I sing this song. She smiles a beautiful smile.
OMG...WHAT A WONDERFUL SONG AND GOOD-LOOKING MAN! I had the wonderful experience of meeting him, in all places, my hometown, performing...got signed picture and everything! Woo hoo! What a great memory!
I'm in my mid-fifties now but this song sounds as fresh as when I first heard it as a teenager in the 1970s and will probably be the same when I turn 100 and beyond!! If only today's music was also made to to touch the heart and soul and last forever!! Long live Billy J Thomas!
I was a teenage mother and this song has always been a big part of my life. BJ has had a big influence on my life, the best was when I got to meet him in person and get a hug in his trailer, I was in heaven. Thank you BJ for all the great memories.
When I saw him in concert in NJ a few weeks back, the audience usually sings along but this time just BJ was singing. Smooth as silk. I not only got to visit with my MOM and sister, but also to attend this concert. The trip from KS to NJ was worth it all.
This is May 29...Saturday...Just read that B.J. died today...One of my 60's favorites...singing here with the Beach Boys backing vocals. ..."Nothing moves my soul like the sound of Rock and Roll "...
My Mom was 17 when she had me and Dad was in the military. Always think of her when I hear it. I have sang it as bedtime songs to my children and grandchildren. Thanks for posting.
RIP, BJ. You will be greatly missed, but your music will live on. I was so lucky to have seen B.J in 2018 in St. Cloud Minn. Still had a awesome voice and still very handsome man

Escutem! Cinco grammys... Magnânimo, Eterno e Único, infelizmente o mundo está ficando paupérrimo no quesito música. Eu te Amo, daqui até o céu!

This song is so sad yet deep...l always cry when l hear it. I often wonder if this is about his own mother and his childhood. Back in those days an unwed mother was like a curse. It must have been real difficult being 16 and all alone...😢 She must be so proud of how he came to be in the spotlight and stardom. He started out singing in the church choir. RIP Bj.and Mom❤🙏❤
More than a million hits on this video, wow! My favorite BJ Thomas song. He looks so...enticing here, doesn't he? He does a great job singing this live in concert too.

If you have not seen BJ, dont pass up the opportunity to see a terrific crooner while he still call belt out the oldies
I grew up listening to BJ and have many great memories attached to his songs. "Hooked On A Feeling" was playing on a Sears Silvertone portable record player when I finally got to kiss my first real love at 11 years of age. I feel sorry for today's youth as their music is all flash and no substance as well as no soul...

I saw BJ in concert around the late 60's or early 70's. Got his autograph and a kiss from BJ. Thrilled me to the moon!!!! He was such a nice guy. Met his sweet brother, as well. A little slow I think, but looked a lot like BJ. I thought it was so cool to have his brother with him. Thanks for reminding me of nice days and pleasant memories.
1987 on a starlit summer night, far out into the country on a deserted hill top road, dancing to this song coming from the car radio. Truly the most romantic night of my life. Little did we know then that a year later he would be dead and I would leave for the East Coast.
Many people think that this is a love song about between a couple (man and woman / or/ whatever), but, when I read the lines, I understood. It's a story about a girl who, at her 16's had a baby. And she was alone in the world and didn't know what to do. So, to make her child to sleep, she sang songs of rock'n'roll lullaby. But even so, a very very beautiful song. For sure, it will last forever and ever. All of my congratulations for the author.
