What makes me cry is how much she talks during these excellent songs.
Lolll
🤣🤣
Agreed!!
Lol
Just watch the fucking music videos then... Why are you even here? This is a list video where the whole point is to compile the songs into a list and explain their significance. If you just wanted to listen to the music the go search for the songs dummy.
my dad died in 1979 when I was just 12 years of age, he was 40. I am now 49. One track destroys me, to the point that I turn it straight off....Luther Vandross "Dance with my father again". love and miss you always!
Chris Treanor my dad died in 2010 right before I turned 6
Derpy Dinosaur I'm so sorry to hear that.my younger sister was 8 and has said she doesn't remember him to much...I don't know how much you would remember at the age of 6. I hope maybe you have some priceless video footage for your family to help you remember him by. I'm afraid for us we didn't have the technology of today back in 79 so we only have photos...how I'd love to hear his voice just one more time. Take care kid and look after your mom,she needs you as much as you need her.
Chris Treanor that song destroys me
Sorry that happened kiddo.
Chris Treanor that's sad:'(
You can just feel Eric's deep hurt and pain he feels when he sings "Tears in Heaven". What a meaningful song.
Yeh but he's a racist piece of shit
Hat song by Eric was about him losing his son. I'm a older guy and I remember when he lost him. I believe he was a 5 year old boy. :((
Just hearing it makes me tear up 😞
Was my favorite, most played, Clapton song until he went anti-vaxxer. Tought to lose a legend like that. Van Morrison, too. They crushed me.
I know, his poor child falling to his death was so devastating.
I can’t make you love me by Bonnie Rait. Laying next to your person knowing she does not feel the same way anymore…. still gets me
I was in a long love affair that when it ended 31 years ago - we planned one last night together. It was beautiful, excruciating, sublime and gut wrenching. I the while making love that time, all through it this song was in my head. Every time I hear it I’m paralyzed and feel the grief again.
Sometimes it's not the song that makes you emotional.. It's the people and things that comes to your mind when you hear it .
You nailed it. I think everyone’s top 10 would be different.
Don't die Draken, Ily
Right on 👍🏽.... It also takes you back to a special place and time in your past ...
Snyder cut and the watchmen

Sarah McLachlin In the Arms of an Angel. Cannot. Listen. Without. Crying.
lino cortes I have to turn off the tv every time that SPCA commercial comes on! Can't do it!
Yeap! ANGEL by Sarah Mclachlan is one of the most saddest song all over the world. Fallen, Sweet Surrender and I will remember you TOO!!! Also GOODBYE from EmmylouHarris 😭😭😭😭
Yes. Can't even listen to it anymore without wanting to bawl.
Miss you, my sweet angel, Beatrice. 🐱😭
Also Iris by the goo goo dolls
Them poor animals 🥲
I lost my Dad in August. We didn't have the best father/son relationship and The Living Years gets me everytime. The only difference is that I was there when he passed. I miss you Dad. 💔
So sorry for your loss. I’ve lost my Dad 2020 and still miss so bad. You mentioned not great relationship when younger, reminds me of Cats In The Cradle. But sounds like you were better son than lyrics of the song. My sincere condolences.
@@kellyfalletta1949 Thank you.

My beloved Dad passed 8 years ago and my song for him is "Man of the Hour" by Pear Jam...was on the soundtrack for movie Big Fish...
the living years always makes me break down, because my mom died suddenly when i was 18 and we had never been close so it hit me extra hard. i had to go through therapy just to come to terms with the amount of regret i have about my mother
Me too 😥. I'm sorry for your loss
This song will definitely bring sad feelings and make you cry
damn thats rough! dont let regret beat the life outta you cuz it will if you'll let it, remember NOBODY is perfect, we've all made mistakes and have regrets.....gotta be able to look in the mirror and forgive that person first, and im really REALLY sorry for your loss🙏
💖💖💖 big hug to you
I'm sorry for you ducky..I've lost a few family members in the past 3 yrs

Lol, I don't blame you, thts hw I felt...
Yeah,,,yass
Serena Suni I feel ya bro
Serena Suni couldn't agree more :)
Serena Suni lollllllll
Hurt by Johnny Cash is nearly impossible to listen to without rethinking your life.
100% agree.
+Blaine Steele I disagree, Trent Reznors standalone (not with NIN) - Hurt is far more emotional. NIN version of Hurt fucking sucks but if you listen to his unplugged piano cover you will be blown away, look for the charity event.
true story
The lyrics are so fucking sad
+Blaine Steele YES. holy shit, my thoughts exactly. Like seriously I'm a bit stupidly excited over reading this comment.
Living Years was a hit in 1988 when my old man passed away. In 2022, it still has the capacity to reduce me to tears every time I hear it.
I know how you feel brother!!!
But sometimes tears are good.
Keep well.
Foreigner’s I Wanna Know What Love Is is one of the most emotional and sad song. Always moves me when I hear it
Yess God people on the comments got good music taste
Pffft 😂
I might be crying.....but the sobs keep getting interrupted by the commentary....honestly....
that was the same thing I would write in other words. thx your comment was at the top.
You nailed it. This girl needs to shut up with the commentary..
Ralph Bernhard yes the commentator needed to stfu
Unreal KentMurphy well i mean you could watch another channel or just search the songs yourselves

Well the first one IS from a macaroni and cheese commercial
Then ya get it on You tube and cry
"Does any man know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours" - The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" Gordon Lightfoot
Gives me goosebumps every time
Bit that always makes it real for me is:
When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck sayin',
"Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya",
At seven PM, a main hatchway caved in, he said,
"Fellas, it's been good to know ya".
It humanises the victims in a way that just talking about the number of deaths doesn't. It's probably not what they actually said in the real tragedy, but it's a great lyric. The captain going down with his ship and his men, just accepting their fate with one last show of gratitude.
Gordon brings this Tragedy and Sadness and the Savagery of Lake Superior(Gitchie Goomy) to life in an almost Religious way in this anthem and Highlight's solemnly the lives lost of these sailors and how important and truly loved they were by their families and friends and the listeners to this poignant tale.
TOTALLY. When He died. The Mariners Church tolled the Bells 30 times. Fitting. That song ..its in a class by itself.
The Hollies - He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother always makes me cry. Probably because it was used in an addiction commercial when I was young. I agree with #1, so heartbreakingly tragic.
"He ain't heavy" always brings the tears for me.
Oh yeah
😢😢😢😢
When Clapton's son died my ex-husband said, "He's going to write some amazing song because of this". He was definitely right!
My dad played this at my moms funeral when I was 9.
Teresa Fontaine OMG you lost your mom that young. So sorry! :(
I hate this piece of shit song because he should have kept to himself instead of,
"I know mate! The lads dead! I'll write some piece of crap song and make millions!!
...voila! he made his fucking millions!!
Chris Long OMG that was rude!
@@chrislong3938 Hurt much?
"I hurt myself today, to see if I still feel..." what a opening line!
One proof that Trent is a genius songwriter!
Johnny Cash..... Really? 😑
And then you watch the video and see all the then and now imagery and... wow.
I much prefere the original by NIN.. There's a life performance from Trent online that will pull your heart out of your chest and tear it into pieces. It is almost to hard to bear his suffering there..
PA MI nin were not the originals of hurt....jeez.
"Yesterday, when I was young".....you reach a certain age and this song says it all.
In the living years always makes me cry. I cried when i heard it after my Dad passed away in 1996. My brother passed away very unexpectedly on Dec 6, 2023. I think of him all the time, especially when i hear this song. I am older, i always feel like i should have been the first to go.

Johnny Cash's Hurt will always make me cry, because of how much it reasonates with myself and everyone that has passed on from me.
My little cousin died 11 months ago of pneumonia. He was 13 months old. Tears in Heaven does it for me. God Bless Lucas.

so true
That song makes me cry when sung by Johnny Cash.
That song is about being a herion addict and is very sad
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar pain
same dawg
Tears In Heaven was played at my son's funeral as was You Raise Me Up. I can't listen to either one without bawling, now. Music touches our souls in unexplainable ways.😌
Simple Man is a song I treasure. My son was murdered in 2022 from the hands of his ex-girlfriend. He had his drums and guitars with amps set up in my garage. He would have my house rocking, oh how I miss his sound! Had planned to sell his Pearl drums and other things, just can't do it yet. The love a mother has for her only son, a bond that will never be broken.
Tears in Heaven is definitely a tearjerker for sure. I imagine my late sister who died over 41 years ago at only 2 months old from SIDS 09/27/1981-12/0?/1981. The saddest part is I never met her because I was the last born. Only my oldest sister, b. 1980, was able to see her. There's only 4 of us now
I try to imagine how she would look today, who would she be closest with out of all of us. I ask my mother questions about her physical appearance so I could draw her. "Would you know my name" is so true, because I wonder if she would know me. Gosh, I know I will meet her one day as her baby sister. RIP Jotonel Sharee Shaw 🕊️🕊️🕊️
Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" makes me cry every time. It's too real. It's not just a cover, it's a vocal recollection of his life and the mistakes he's made.
Even though it's a cover
+Ash Hudson Yeah?
Zori Day Well, you said it's a vocal recollection of his life and mistakes, except that the song is not about him, it's about Trent Reznor who wrote the song. But yeah, the words are relatable so it doesn't matter. Was just wondering if you were aware though
Ash Hudson I know, I said it was a cover several times. I'm very aware. Johnny Cash did many covers.
+Ash Hudson Pretty sure it was written about drug addiction (heroin) which could certainly be transposed into Johnie's life as he struggled with addiction his whole career. Either way, it's probably one of the only other covers on the list apart from Buckley's rendition of Hallelujah that the artist pours actual emotion into the song and makes it their own. And probably the only real 'tear' jerker on the list
As a father now... "Cat's in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin ...is probably one of the hardest song for me to listen to without welling up. It sheds light on a new found respect for my father, that I never knew, I should have always had. The song saved my relationship with my father even if he didn't know it.
As a son whose father is no longer in his life, it's the hardest song for me to hear and not cry.
Can someone tell me what the songs about? I’ve heard it a few times, and it sounds like a son growing distant from his father as he gets older to me.
@@leeeverett8497 it's about a father who never has time for his son, is hardly ever home and unintentionally misses out on having a good relationship with his son. Then as he gets older and his son moves out and becomes his own man, the father wants to see him more but the son is now the one who doesn't have time for him. The song ends with the father realizing that his son has grown up and become just like him.
@@devon596 fuck our dads bro, never let him back in your life, fuck him
@@leeeverett8497 CrimsonRush117 pretty much nails it. It's about making time to be with your family despite needed to provide for them. Make the effort to spend time with them because one day they won't be there to spend time with ever again. it doesn't have to be a father son relationship but in this song it is. It's also something to be said about learning from the mistake of your elders and not repeating them.
Candle in the wind for sure. Makes you think of who we've lost in our lives
My favorite is Everybody Hurts ❤ Thanks for list
Remembering the first time I saw REM perform that song, as I was swaying arm & arm with my friend Jennifer as I choked down my tears. Today, it means just as much, if not more, as it applies to me personally.
@@calikins2004 smiles, hi Calkins
Wow
Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here always makes me think of my late dad, who passed 16 years ago when I was just 10.
My grandpa who raised like one of his own passed away at 16 we bonded over Pink Floyd especially this song
Pink Floyd will always have a special spot in my heart
I’m so sorry. I can’t imagine how much harder your life must have been having that happen to you.
i also lost my dad this year, he was a pink floyd fan. i'm sorry for your loss
Pink floyd another brick in the wall will always get me in my feelings it was my father song
Everybody Hurts is the song saved my life. I was ready to quit life but when I heard that song I realised I am not the only one who hurts.and yes, I cried when I heard it.
I’m so happy you didn’t quit. You give me hope.
That is such a fantastic song. Music can be a very powerful thing, if you allow it to be..
I'm with you, brother.
I'm glad you didnt do it.
Thank you for being here.
Lol. Nice try to get likes. If a song can stop you from ending your life, you weren't depressed to begin with.
Has anybody tried get in touch with a loved one, but there is someone who always gets in the way? Sylvia's Mother will bring tears to my eyes.
I teared up immediately on hearing the first strands of Tears in Heaven.
It feels like I fell into an ocean of emotion when I listened to that.
Yes. So emotional cool. How are you Barbara ?
Such a sad song. Such a tear jerker every time I hear it
Tears in Heaven is just such a sad song, even if it doesn't remind you of anyone. Just knowing the reason behind the song is what makes it super sad, even after all these years.
more than 22 million people came here to either satisfy their boredom or to cry let's all admit it
Ashley Samimi that's what I thought too. a lot of depressed people out there
boredom yeah hahaha
boredom and curiosity about the songs they chose
I came here to gain knowledge about songs that probably would make me cry, but I end up not crying at all, just a few nostalgic memories in some of these songs... :T
Ashley Samimi 1-
As a sailor, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” always gets me withe the line - “Does anyone know where the Love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?” I spent a lot of time sailing the world with the US Navy, and I can’t think of a lonelier way to die than in the dark among the waves.
I was thinking about that song, too. It is very sad especially since it is a true story.
And that made me think about the song at the end of Titanic, “My Heart Will Go On?”
Arthur Wright..when did you serve?
@@tinamcbride177 1977-1987. 1980 to 85 was at sea aboard The USS Midway CV-41 & USS Ranger CV-61.
@@arthurwright8827 thank you for your service. My husband was aboard the Myles Fox in the 70s. He spent a long time in Brooklyn, NY. He got out in 1980. Strange how tunes such as this evoke such memories. God bless you!
John Denver made two songs that have caused me to soak many hankies with my tears. Back Home Again. It was playing in my head when I was bottomed out and came a 1/4 inch of blowing my brains out. Fortunately I didn't . On a happier note, Take Me Home Country Roads. Every time I hear it I just totally lose it. Reminds me of my old home town in rural Pennsylvania. I imagine me and my best friend walking down the unpaved road, when we have crossed over ro to the Afterlife. Barefoot, holding hands, chewing on a piece of grass, singing along, telling him, well Larry, we have arrived.
I grew up in Youngwood and Greensburg PA... I feel you brother... I feel you... I'll probably end up jumping off a bridge or blowing my brains out or both at the same time. Stay Strong!
Just lost my best friend Mike and my brother in 2019 "How I wish How I wish you were here. love and miss you, Bob and Mike
Even though it's not a sad song, What a Wonderful World has a 100% chance to make me cry.
Same man
Agree.. but listen also to Louis Armstrong's Bond movie tune "We have all the time in the world".. Don't care about the movie, cause the song narrative and ideas are much stronger.. Whenever the for instance worklife gets the better of me, I remind myself of this absolute gem that tells us to take it easier. Cause it's simply our OWN time. And it's more precious than gold.
Will be played at my funeral.
Yeah same
Me too especially since it was last song my friend posted before she passed away 💔💔💔
'Hurt' will always be on my top list as a tear-jerking song.
Johny Cash Version though
Summer Bllob
Yes!
+Summer Bllob I once played the NIN version for someone who was a huge fan of the Johnny Cash cover. He said the original was even sadder
Agree!
+evilclownattack I love both versions, but I do think Cash's was more sorrowful.
As a big A7X fan, hearing So Far Away made me cry. The expression on Matt’s face really got me, and the lyrics are definitely tear-jerking. Syn did a great job writing that song. I know that what they went through was incredibly difficult, losing their best friend. They honored Jimmy well.
@@aileen9553 this has nothing to do with Billy Murray. Did you read my comment?
I remember exactly where I was when Eric Clapton's son died. In fact, I was about 6 blocks away and never knew what was happening so close to where I was. Thinking about it still puts a huge pit in my stomach. Being a father myself, I still think about how terrifying that child's final moments must have been. Sure, it is a beautiful song, but I am certain that Clapton would not only give up that song, but his entire career, to have this tragedy never have happened.
Kid walked out an open unscreened window in a high rise.
@@DaryMatera Yes... As a father, it sent me into a rage of emotions. I was hurt, angry, I cried I even hyperventilated. I was overcome with grief for a child that was not mine. Because, as a parent, I knew the pain of this mother and father. It was just difficult for me to imagine. At the time, I was a young father. My kid was recently born and I was working hard in NY to support my kid. I could not imagine a horrific death like this for an adult, much less a child. It's funny, today, I hear about something like this, and I just go make coffee. Time has a way of hardening us to the tragedies that not only come, but are yet to come. I guess instances like this have made me hard. I still feel horrible, but I feel horrible much differently.
@@danminutsich7509 Life can become very difficult to bear. At times we need to armour ourselves so we can cope with the tragedies we’re experiencing. The pain is still there, yet we’re protected from feeling the depth of that pain, sometimes to even preserve our sanity.
@@maryloulauren8108 Sure, but I would ask you....What protects us from the depth of pain? And, how does our sanity become preserved?
And, as far as armoring ourselves from tragedies. I don't believe that is the right approach. I would say that taking this position can be double-edged.
You see, I believe that sometimes, and certainly not at first, but pain can eventually become one of the highest expressions of love. An emotional sacrifice that grows with time. I believe that pain becomes a badge of honor that we not only learn to live with, but embrace. I also don't believe that pain is an enemy.
The thing is, pain is something that we have been conditioned to fear, so we never embrace or accept it immediately. And, although unwelcome at first, I believe that pain eventually becomes a stranger that walks alongside us for the remainder of our days.
Pain becomes a partner who we get used feeling, and maybe even come to rely on some day. However, mostly, I believe that accepting pain is the only way to truly let go. That's my 2-cents.
“He stopped loving her today” by the great George Jones(RIP) considered by many in the industry(CM) as the greatest song of all time . Gets me every time😢💔💔

Linkin Park One More Light, gets me every time
Johnny Cash’s version of “Hurt” will forever be my #1 make you cry song. It always reminds me of my Papa. I took him to see Walk The Line back when it was in theaters and it was the first and only time he’d ever been to a modern movie theater. His eyes lit up. I will always remember that day and “Hurt” brings back those amazing memories for me.
I love you, Papa. 💕
Johnny Cash?? poor guy hit the bottle and became a slave to evangelical charlatans and believing in one of the 2800 manmade gods of history. If only he had studied evolution and sociobiology he could have lived an honest true life, without false indoctrination, sad.
It is so hard growing older because we lose our parents. No one prepares you for that!!

'Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.'
That's as universal a sentiment as possible.
Father and son by Cat Stevens anyone?? No, just me.
Dirk Tolenaars
How can I try, to explain?
Cause when I do, he turns away, again.
It's always been the same, same old story.
From the moment I could talk, I was ordered to listen.
Now there's a way, and I know, that I have to go away;
I know, I have to go.
That song breaks my heart every time....makes me burst into tears!
Dirk Tolenaars are you here from gotg vol 2
Jovano Dion Manuel No. I've discorved this beautiful piece thanks to my father about 10 years ago. But the way you discover it isn't important. I simply hope you also dearly enjoy this piece of music. And consider yourself lucky to have discovered this amazing song. Just like me and many others.
Dirk Tolenaars whenever i need a lonely cry i play it
I will always love you Whitney Houston....❤
Tears in heaven wins for me too. I lost my dad just a weeks ago and our oldest cat last week. So currently in that very emotional spot again but only that song actually made me cry.
Hallelujah is a song by anyone that always brings tears to my eyes and I refused to let it be played at my mom's funeral because I was already so emotional over it.
You can hear the pain in the song Tears in Heaven. I couldn't imagine the pain he went through.
If you want to hear pain in someones heart. Listen to Alyssa Lies
Elvis presley gospel
Elvis presley gospels
OMG it's heartbreaking
Alyssa Lies was about a little girl he knew and very touching, But Tears in Heaven is about his own son.
One of the songs that has me sobbing like a baby is “Vincent” by Don Maclean. Not only because of the heart wrenching dedication to Van Gogh and his misunderstood beauty, but also because it was one of my dad’s favourite songs. Ugh, so hard to listen to, but it has one of the most hauntingly beautiful melody and lyrics I’ve ever heard.
Me too. Wonderful song, makes me cry but I love it.
"Daniel" by Elton John has always reminded me of my died much too soon older brother.
I agree, McLean should be on any "sad" list, all his songs are so blue.
Yup. Every time. Makes me think of my uncle.
Beautiful
These are the songs that always make me cry...
1. Wilco - A Shot in the Arm
2. Radiohead - How to Disappear Completely
3. Elliott Smith - Between The Bars
4. Nick Drake - Parasite
5. Jeff Buckley - Lilac Wine
6. Sufjan Stevens - Casimir Pulaski Day
7. Bright Eyes - We Are Nowhere and It's Now
8. The Beatles - Eleanor Rigby
9. Flaming Lips - Do You Realize
10. Bon Iver - Blindsided
5. "Casimir pulaski day" makes me cry just for the storytelling. i made people listen to it and would sit there like a panting dog waiting for them to start crying. my mom thought i was so weird!! she didn't cry at the end of six feet under either, cold biatch!
9. "Do you realize", the first day of my first exstistential crisis. thanks flaming lips.
Jeff buckley is goat lilac wine is not his but still so great
@@AnahataMaryjane haha.. maybe it's just a generation gap thing.. glad you love Sufjan!
@pazuzu I'm glad to introduce them bud! I love each of them
@@sydbarrettpsychedelicforever Totally! It's just his ver and his voice that personally hit me..
Nothing compares 2U sung by Sinéad O’Connor. I cry every time I hear it. Also, the Enya song heard at the beginning of the video always makes me cry. It was used in a video that came out after the World Trade Center came down. The song is haunting
Prince wrote Nothing Compares 2U.
Wow, what a beautiful song
As I've gotten older, shit makes me cry more and more.
Yea wtf is up with that and I’m only 27 but life just decided to start shitting on me now 😢
I'm gonna cry me a river in a river of tears i'm gonna cry cry baby i'm gonna CCRRRYYYYY!
Puberty has made me feel so much more sad
Sees birth certificate cries in shower
That's cause we are touched more by the music and life...
These are the days of our lives - Queen
November rain - Guns n´roses
Rocket man - Elton John
-
These are sad songs for me.
Yep, November Rain always does it for me.
Laughing - Crosby, Stills and Nash.
what about fade to black
metallica
These are the days is really sad. It's one of my favorite songs.
Guillermo Luis Antonelli same
Walk on by sung by Dionna Warwick always brings tears to my eyes since I was a little girl. And Luka by Suzanne Vega, it hits way too close to home
I was fine up until that last song. I lost my great grandmother two months ago, and when the song started playing it reminded me of her.
”Unchained Melody” by The Righteous Brothers are definitely missing on this list.
So true, along with soooo many others. This list is what made me cry.
Omg this song is soooo deep... Unchained Melody is one of my favourite song
I wholeheartedly agree. For the longest time I couldn't listen to Unchained Melody without crying like a democrat. Cat's in the Cradle by Harry Chapin makes me cry too....
@@residentrump3271 The pan flute version of Unchained Melody is really good as well.
Honestly, I was shocked that it’s not on here. Definitely my favourite sad song, i’d place it at #1.
Tears in Heaven is so emotional because Eric wrote because of personal loss of a child and only performed the song a number of times before making an announcement that he can’t even perform it anymore because it was way too emotional for him on stage.
So all of that makes ‘Tears in Heaven’ very empathetical, especially when Eric Clapton gets choked up whilst singing it.
It is neraly impossible to go on with your life if your child dies, its not a phrase when parents call their child "my life" in many languages. The incredible grief Calpton and Lory had is crippleing. Lory also lost his other son
@@Omertahun Yeah, it’s just not supposed to happen that way… children passing before parents. It’s sad.
True...
My father(adopted me after his only son died) always listened to this song. His son died right before his 21st birthday in a tragic car accident. He always said he wanted to do better as a parent and took me from a horrible situation. Treated me like his little princess. I always thought he saved me. When he died in 2020, I realized that I was the one who saved him. Rip, my precious Daddy! ❤️🎈
@@cherokeegypsymama Good for him.
Most of these songs are already in my "Sad Songs" playlist. Yeah, I have a Sad Songs playlist, I think listening to sad songs can be therapeutic and relaxing. However, my personal pick for saddest song would definitely be Samson by Regina Spektor. Not only is the song beautiful on its own but the song's topic of losing a loved one to cancer is such a universal theme.
Agree about sad songs begging therapeutic.
I have a sad songs Playlist myself. I don't think, as a parent, and as a father in particular, that anything can touch "the ballad of Hollis Brown" by Bob Dylan
Goodbye My Lover by James Blunt makes me cry!
Omg. I haven’t heard before. Had a listen and total boohoo. Thanks Lee for sharing this one.
I ball like a baby every time I hear that song
Michael Scott also cried listening to Goodbye My Lover
James Blunt Monsters is the saddest song ever written. IMHO
"Runaway Train" Now that I've seen the video, with pictures of dozens of missing children and teens, I can't hear it without tears. "Runaway train, never coming back/ Going nowhere on a one-way track"
Runaway Train made me cry too!!
Oh, god, the video rips me apart.
That was my stepdads song Bill. My mom & I loved him. Others that didn't like him never understood him. We did. I still miss him. Bill helped raise me showed me to never give up. The song that stuck with me after he died was from Phil Collins: It gets easier across those tracks. I swear I could feel and hear my stepdads voice through the birds after he passed. In Loving memory of William Leeroy Yates.
Damn! I forgot about that video. Epic sadness there. I remember when it came out when I was a teen. That one hits a nerve hard at that age when you're feeling all kinds of emotions of resentment, anger, sadness etc. The video just hammers it home. Much like Everybody Hurts. The song is sad, then you watch the video and it really hits home.
Imagine by John Lennon?
Knock on Heaven's door?
You are not alone?
Last David's Bowie's song?
video came out in 2014 bro.
A change is gonna come Sam Cooke
I can't hear Tears in Heaven, or The Living Years without crying. Both songs mean so much to me
Smiles, hello Sue
Ill be right behind you, Josephine - Josh Woodward. Makes me cry every time
10. Wild Horses - conveys no sadness to me at all. Ageless....yes. Stood hair on ends? LOL Not even close. Nice song
9. Sound of Silence - yes.
8. Wish you were here. - Great classic song. Tearjerker? Sorry, not feeling it. Not at all
7. One Sweet Day - No tears or any sadness. Love the song. Lame choice
6. The Living Years - Yes this could do it
5. Candle in the Wind - This is a good selection
4. Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley - Most superb choice
3. Everybody Hurts by REM, - this is one that brings tears to my eyes every time
2. Hurt by Johnny Cash - perfect choice
1. Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton - nice
+Steven Martinovich
As for REM, IMO it could be "Losing my religion" instead.
listening to wish you were here while grieving for a friend or family member it will do it. I play that song at funerals whenever I'm asked to play a song.
+brian Randall you should be here
Hallelujah, brings tears to my eyes all the time
REM makes me cry even in my job when i am listening to radio.
About 15 years ago, I was working at Tower Records. One day, a label rep got staffers and I into a room with a VCR and produced a promo tape.
We were among the first to see the video for "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. I knew Trent Reznor's version, but Johnny owned it and it's his song.
Knowing how huge Cash is in his influence and seeing him so frail near death was too much. I lost and broke down crying right there. Everyone had a similar reaction.
edalder2000
I'm a huge cash fan and he done the song Justice... but NIN owns it and no one can come close
its not cash's song, its 9 inch nails song, cash covered it
Brynden Rivers junky pride?
Brynden Rivers I don't care what you have a 'PhD in. Letting oneself become a 'junky' is having no self control, disrespect for the body, and total disregard for the consequences.
Worked there too...
For some reason, tears classic song from the 60s, "Born Free" always has me tearing up.
OMGosh, I sang that a lot as a kid!
I can't even listen to it.
So true and in my music class we'r singing it together it's so wonderfull
Born Free wants me want. to hop into a Time Machine and go back to pre Ice Age Pleistocene, primeval unspoiled Africa and see all the abundant wildlife before Ice Age climate change and the onslaught of early humans wiped out moat of It.
In high school I read the book Born Free and its sequel "Living Free". At broke down and cried at the end of Living Free, when Elsa died, from a parasite similar to malaria.
Wish you were here by Pink Floyd can be interpreted into so many meanings it is one of my favourite Pink Floyd songs .
Shine On You Crazy Diamond makes me cry even more than does Wish You Were Here. Like A Rock by Bob Seger and It Makes No Difference by The Band also make me cry.
The Show Must Go On by Queen. It’s the only song to ever make me cry. I literally broke down.
We played this Song at my Eldest Sons Funeral for his Dad who committed suicide on 28th November 2011 - he was a massive Queen Fan, breaks my Heart listening to it & under the circumstances of Freddie Mercury writing this Track it defo does deserve a mention!
I’m deeply sorry for your loss, man. May he sit beside God in Heaven. 🙏🏻

@@TheAwesomeDude101 Thank you, I know he has only left his earthly shell, his Soul often is around us
No problem, man.
My son died almost 10 years ago. Tears in Heaven is the one for me. :(
I'm so sorry. Losing a child is the worst thing. What music did he like?
I’m so sorry for you loss.
Sorry for your loss. My father was a huge Eric Clapton fan. So am I. I feel your pain.

I can’t believe “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman was left out. That song chokes me up every single time. It’s so real and so bleak.
this...i agree!!! you can literally see and feel it as if it's real!
@@donnadayle3762 Totally. I can see her working a low paying job in a dying town and barely able to keep herself and her father alive. She believes her father will get better and they can move to the city and have the American Dream when we know it will never happen. I think she knows too but needs a reason and hope to keep her going. Driving is her only escape. It’s an amazing song and Tracy sings with honest emotion.
It's a cover though
I will break down crying in the grocery store if that song comes on.
@@IluvatarEru doesn't matter. Tracey makes it what it is.
