- Trapping is excellent knowledge to have as another way to provide meat for you and your family. This is quickly becoming a forgotten skill but not all is lost. In this video, I do a short demonstration of setting up a dog-proof cuff for raccoons.

I would recommend the Dukes Dog Proofs if you have cats nearby. The dukes is a pull only trigger and it keeps the cats from setting it off. Push/pull is better for possums but it’s rare they stick their arm in it anyway.
Just got a few traps today! I have a serious raccoon problem at my house right now! There are about 20 of them who think this is their house! Hopefully these work and I can eliminate my pest problem.
Wish I was there to adopt a baby raccoon from you I want to tame one has a pet
@@spidy05no you don't
@@spidy05 They are sweet hearts as babies. But when they mature and "want some", they become very mean.
Any traps will work, you should get about 3 traps if you have 20 racoons. You'll have to transport every one of them at least 20 miles away and release them or they will just keep coming back. Or kill them....
Raccoons make that noise when they know it's game over.
Awesome video, just got in to trapping this '21 season and got a fat raccoon with dog proof trap.
Awesome! These are a great way to learn to trap.
Good luck trapping
Una pregunta y que le ponen de comer.. saludos desde Guatemala
Wow
Thanks for watching!
So how are the legwarmers coming along
We are still collecting furs for the leg warmers.
Cool
What do u do with the coons after dispatching? Trash can?
Taters and gravy
where can I buy this trap ?
At many farm stores......such as farm fleet....for hardware stores
Sería bueno el video en español

www.southernsnares.com/search?q=z+trap
Amazon does not sell these traps, but here is the link to where we purchase most of our traps from.
Bridge trap company
Thanks for the video..but it’s prolly best to turn comments off bc of these antis
Some years ago I caught a cat with this type trap.
Hoped you could demo it using your finger ?????
Just buy one and show us. Im sure you would get a lot of likes !
Do you eat the raccoon?
Yes, we do.
@@g2outdooradventures4 That’s good to know. I just had to ask. How do you prepare and cook them? A few of my family members ate them, that was years ago though. I was confident that nothing goes to waste, with you and your family. Happy New Year
@@denisemccarson1163 a very popular way is to slow cook it with sweet potatoes. Also cooking on an open campfire so it will have a smokey flavor. Keep in mind though the front and back legs have glands in them that need to be removed. Here is a video we talk about it: ua-cam.com/video/BI7h3ikWF1U/v-deo.html
@@g2outdooradventures4 Thank you
I only eat vegan animals. I don’t like the taste of rabies. 🤣
Will it accidentally catch a cat?
Hi , trapper here, this trap works as follow : the racoon must put his paw in the trap and GRAP and pull for the trap to activate , only dogs and coons can be caught in them for avoiding dogs you put a small cap on top of it for the coon to take it off , hope it helps!
Yep, just let ‘em go
Awh your gana shoit tht sweet faced little guy?
Can't trap Raccoons in Georgia! Why would you trap coon anyway? Not good eating!
You can eat them if in a survival situation but otherwise, they have great fur for garments.
Cuz they kill your chickens and you are protecting your flock.
@@marimaynard1435 Don't give me those lame excuses. You can't kill wild animals, let alone with a cruel trap like this. Raccoons don't attack the cattele. Lock your chicken coop at night.
@@mxblyxky what do you mean “you can’t kill wild animals” I do just yesterday I killed a coon and a deer
@@mxblyxky and that’s not a excuse I have chickens and coons kill one just about every month they dig under my coop and sometimes open it with there hands so how is that a excuse for killing them they kill my chickens I kill them
Never heard of anyone doing this in my life till today. I don’t like it. I’m all for whatever it takes when they’re rabid. Btw, I live where there’s a lot of hunting and fishing.
I appreciate the wild and confused how you coukd film the coon suffering in the trap and not recognize your lack of empathy....im all for hunting but man thats cold blooded
But here you are watching it! Smdh
The traps don’t hurt them
Mouse traps are more painful than the coon traps
Circle of life can be Cruel but it's Life .
Don't know why your catching raccoons
Predator control, food source, garments, and to sell fur.
Yes Victoria, raccoons are horrible for people keeping chickens. The raccoon comes in and kills them all and leaves the chickens behind.
Sick! 😳 Humans don’t need meat to live a healthy life! Live, and let others live!
And much less meat from wild animals. Human cruelty knows no bounds.
@@mxblyxky exactly!
Nobody cares lame 😂, you should research if plants feel and have a conscious. Then I want you to never eat anything cause everyone deserves to live
Id disagree..... As a Peace Corps volunteer to Liberia Africa......in our group of 65 volunteers......there were 7 .......so called vegans. In Liberia......up country........you seldom found veggies.....and if there were........you couldnt afford to buy !!!! Those 7 volunteers left the country with in 6 months.....because they were starving to death ! So..... meat is important in a real world !
@@jimmyjohnson7041 we are not in Liberia!!!
You're Evil
Your unintelligent
Why are you torturing and killing wild animals? This is shameful.
nope its food, money, predator and population control
What about the coons killing chickens..... rodents......other animals with no regard !!!!! What are you doing about those ? You have an online sight for them to visit.......and learn ?
@@jimmyjohnson7041 When I lived temporarily in the country I never killed a wild animal even the ones that attacked the chicken coop. I would trap them in a box trap and release them far away. On You Tube there are other farmers who are looking for other solutions but do not kill wild animals.
@@mxblyxkythen you’re a dumbass. They always comeback
You're a monster.
Please stop hurting animals, how would you feel if that poor raccoon was you? 😢
You’ve obviously never lived in the country.
I'd probably feel trapped. 😃
You don't understand why we trap - to keep the animals in balance to help prevent disease & overpopulation of each species!
