Help me .....I am going to make a journal .....I don't understand why u add the papers that come outta a book or even the music sheets or pictures. Do I write on them or is it for looks ???

looks... part of the "treasure" to find within. such as making pockets thru out and filling them things like... vintage cards, recipe cards, trivia cards, a nice poem folded up and placed inside an envelope...U could also cut off Strips of the musical notes and glue it on to a blank page for decoration.. Or use as background FOR a Blank piece of paper. maybe tear and ink the edges of the blank paper u want to write on. 😊

My my goodness- I watched every single second of this entire process. You are my biggest inspiration of how I want to approach junk journaling ... but ... I’ve purchase SO many printables and wishing I had started out with more of an organic style. That said, it’s never too late. I will implement more and more this style and will eventually stop buying printables. Thank you, Natasa... you’re one of the great ones, in my opinion xo

You nailed my preference!! Thank you.

"I WANT TO BE WILD AND FREE LIKE THE SEA 🌊 🎶 ✨️"
Darling Natasha, perhaps you don't realize that your wild and free waves have lapped upon the shores of Michigan! Do you know you've changed my life? Your sweet, lyrical, easy-going commentary so freely providing artistic details has inspired my creativity and lifted me out of a SEVEN YEAR DEPRESSION? I lost my Mama and myself, and now through your tutorials, I am creating memory books, recipe books, family tradition books, and JOY! I AM CREATING JOY AGAIN THANKS TO YOU, DARLING NATASHA❣️
I apologize for all caps, but I'm not sure how long ago this gem was made (thank you for specifically showing me HOW to use the journal to PLAY) and I feel it's important you realize your "I dunno. Doesn't matter. It's not perfect but that's ok. I'm not sure if I like it but that's what we're going with." and all your little sing-sing phrases of love and acceptance of things the way they are, the way they've fallen into place, and if we don't like it now, we might later, and if we still don't like it later, we can beautifully change it to our liking. 😊It may seem trite, but you have helped my little retired suburban housewife life in an unimaginable way. All of my curated things can be beautifully enshrined in a book made of junk mail for pennies.
Thank you thank you thank you 🎉🎉🎉
    😢 I'm not kidding, 7 years😢

I hurt my dominant wrist so not much I can do for 2 weeks in my studio - so I decided to binge watch your videos. typing with left hand so excujse typos. Even though I'm not a beginner I still like to watch beginner videos because we can learn so much. I relly liked this video especially where you showed the used sticker backing with a pocket attached. THAT WAS verY creative. Even though I love to hand embroider I don't like sewing signatures very much - si I tried stapling mine. it worked ok...but I admit sewing is prettier. Subscribed nages ago, love your channel, your voice, thorough instructions, and tips - great job!

Dear Natasa, No detail ever escapes you. This is soooo inspiring...especially the cover. Just a couple fyi's: your stitching around the sides of the cover is called whip stitch (don't ask me how I know that because I don't sew)and what you called "wall tape"...close. It is drywall tape to cover seams. Some call it Sheetrock or wallboard instead of drywall. Now how is that for totally useless trivia? Giving thanks this Thanksgiving in America for your kind spirit.

    • @TreasureBooks
      @TreasureBooks  5 років тому

hehe Susan, thank you so much. I was calling it embroidery the whole time, and each time I would say it, I winced because I knew it was wrong, but just didn't know what else to call it. The wall tape - hehe, I knew it had the word "wall" in there somewhere. Thank you for giving me correct names, and its definitely not useless!!

I am doing your tutorial for the junk journal again about a year later. I have modified it slightly with different colors and used a mica spray to add a glazed finish to the cover. I’m quite pleased with the results! This is one of my favorite journal covers. I can’t wait to put it all together. I wish I could send you a picture of it! I love your tutorials! Thanks!

Looking through UA-cam at all the junk journals since I am wanting to make my first after Christmas. I have enough "stuff" to make several to start with. I have a box of newspaper clippings that belonged to my Grandmother I am thinking of laminating or preserving somehow to add to these journals. I really love this one for sure.

It was by chance yesterday that your content popped up. I am doing journaling but never heard about junk-journals before. All I can say after watching some of your videos: Absolutely amazing! Your creativity, style, superbe explaining and ideas are outstanding! Never again will I buy any journals now but have plenty of fun in future with my own projects. Thank you so much. I am especially delighted since I kept some lovely magazines for years due to some realy beautiful pages and always thought they are worth being upcycled. Now I know what for. So, thank you again, greezings from Germany. Besides: a happy and healthy new year 2024!

If there is something perfect, it's this tutorial video. I'm always having questions after tutorial videos, but this one was just perfect "go ahead and do it with me" all the questions answered. I just finished my second ever journal and I am so proud of it I could cry 😍😭😍
Such great techniques and tons of ideas. I feel so inspired to decorate it from the inside now 😀❤
I didn't use another color for the cover and I highlighted it with bronze acrylic paint. I did the sewing with rainbow yarn and it looks fabulous 😍
I'm starting creative writing classes next month and this will be my journal for it. I made it more as a journal to write in, but with paper I used your techniques to dye it. I'm so in love with it, I can't even express 😍
Thank you ever so much for this wonderful video! Love and light! ☺❤💜❤

I loved going through the steps.. I am so inspired to make one with all the papers that i saved for I just liked them.. Though I do not have any colorful scrapbook paper, I think I can get started with the junk mail, few colorful ones I have for now. That way I can still have those papers to myself but in an organized way.

Natasa has a video using an envelope as the cover. The point being, perhaps you can cover the journal that same way. Torn book pages, ModPodge, inks.

I love this, I am making my granddaughter a mermaid themed junk journal, and I'm sending her some ephemera, but I also will explain what a true junk journal is and encourage her to use those type of items. It would be wonderful to have a series to help her get inspired. Thanks. So much for this. Oh, by the way, I must say when you said you were going to put orange paint on the cover, and I saw how bright it was I was a little surprised, but it really turned out quite nice. Again thankyou for your great ideas.

    Hi!
This is so pretty! I did something similar, but I didn’t use gesso. I didn’t know about it, I’m a newbie to all of this paper crafting. I’m loving it and I’ve learned so much from your tutorials! Thank you for that. With my project I used a brown paper bag and I used paper mache’ glue with a beautiful napkin which I separated. It did wrinkle, but I like the effect very much! I’m having problems binding my journals, but as time goes on, and I watch these tutorials, I’m learning so much! Have a great day!

Thank you so much for this comprehensive video. I have viewed it several times, and it has taken me through every step as I've been making several of my own first journals. (I'm still working on cereal box covers for my next one.) I love how clearly you explain things. I also appreciate that you work with true JUNK, reusing things and finding a new purpose for old things. Loads of warm appreciation from Oregon (western US).
