I like your videos and your presentation, but may I suggest you put a few acoustic panels up on your wall. You can get aesthetically interesting ones that would make your "UA-cam studio" look more pro and will improve the audio by removing some or all of the room reverb. Or, you could use something like WAVES Clarity Vx plugin to remove it. This will make the videos instantly more pro!

Surely Bit Perfect (no filter) should not roll off any highs. The whole purpose of a filter is to roll off highs, with the "ideal" of being said to be one that rolls off frequencies a little above 22kHz.
you would think so, but that’s not the case that’s why i left the GTO filter paper in comments so people can learn more. If bitperfect is the best, than why ifi also market how “GTO” filter is best. There high end models even have “bitperfect+” Below explains why bitperfect+ is better...it actually confirms my subjective take which is hilarious. Says it restores "detail and air" haha. I swear i didnt read this before

GTO filter all day :) it gets better with a better/linear power supply. I found that in many songs with layers regular power supplies have a flat presentation and smear the layers. When you put a good LPS (Jcat with a good power cord and good jack dc plug) you get the full 3D layering and the highs becomes more real.
Some people will say you should buy a better dac instead, but i have more expensive ones and they don't do what ifi products do.
yeah gto filter is quite nice! I only tried it with default power supply because my ican one is too powerful for the neo 2
@@ryanhostudio The ican power supply is rated at 15V and the Neo 2 works with 9V to 15V ;) For the amperage the device takes only what it needs. So you have what you need :) You can check with the ifi support team they will confirm

I use the GTO filter in my iDSD Neo 1 and its the better filter. Can't wait to get this one to play even more. Pity is a bit too expensive but still a treat.
What would you recommend between ifi neo idsd 2 and topping dx7 pro + for mixing and mastering?
@@user-zb2nn7wp2w hi i can only vouch for the of neo idsd 2 because it has a neutral sound. Most topping stuff also have neutral as well but i haven’t tried the dx7 pro+ so i cannot confirm. topping d70 octo had a lot of flavor i would avoid that one

How well does it drive the HE-6se V2? Read somewhere that the actual power (RMS) is not really 5+ watts, but rather only 1.5 watts (@ 32 ohms).
i’ve had no issue with it driving the he6se v2

I just bought one of these and find the Xbass is way more subtle than on my other iFi ZEN DAC V2. Did you find it subtle?
it is a noticeable increase in bass on neo 2 but not sure how it compare to zen dac v2 as i no longer have it
@@ryanhostudio I seriously think my unit might defective Xbass. If you have the time, I actually have a couple more questions for you. The first is when using the Xbass on the iFi pro iCan Signature, does it emphasize the bass more than on the Neo IDSD? My second question is how did the Abyss MR react to the bass boost? I am thinking of getting one but being a bit of a bass head I want to make sure I can jack up the lower end a bit. I tried a Diana V2 on the iFi ZEN DAC V2 and that really reacted in a big (good) way to the Xbass.
Diana MR reacts really well to bass boost it doesnt disort. I pro ican has a more advanced bass boost, it has 3 different tiers to go up. The first one is more subbass boost, second one boosts most of the bass, and 3rd one is like extreme bass boost that definitely bleeds into the mids. Pretty much use bass boost if your trying to go basshead mode yeah

If you connect the little iFi DAC to the headphone amp and the Neo2 to the headphone amp, so you are just comparing the DAC's, can you hear any difference?
yeah so i did the crazy thing of hooking up the ifi uno ($80) to ifi ican ($2250) and the uno did not really sound better. The soundstage might of gotten bigger but you can easily tell how it lacked in soundstage, notes sounded smeared, and treble and low notes were still not anywhere close to how good it sounded with the ifi neo 2 connected to ifi ican.
I was curious too but yep confirms cheap dacs are still cheap dacs
i don't get why companies still use that stupid B connector instead of USB-C not only that put they always give you such a short usb cable it's literally useless without extension cable even devices that cost over $1000 companies still won't give you a proper length cable that it costs them few cents same for USB-C

i think the standout difference for me is the the fiio k9 pro was more narrow soundstage and focused in the middle while the ifi idsd2 soundstage sounds more wide. K9 pro also has a more in your face type of presentation compared to ifi idsd2
What can you recommend for dac/amp or stack for same price as is this for deskstop gaming or listening
for separate dac amp I like the ifi zen dac signature v2 and ifi zen can signature amp. I reviewed both in one video! You can use it for gaming and listening, just keep in mind you need a separate micophone

Damn this is disappointing, I was hoping the neo 2 would have that musicality other units are known for. There are so many neutral dac/amps on the market already, it is so boring.
you can either listen to it in bitperfect mode, or get a neo 1 or the smsl su-9 pro dac are more “musical” in my experience
