Indeed! :) I absolutely love Milestone's work! One of my all time favorite developers ;) Thanks for watching and for leaving your comment, David! Have a great day! Cheers!
Great material you have produced here! Titles from the time PC gaming started to takeoff as a gaming platform to consider (although due to costs it couldn't be that mainstream yet). Even better years came after. Late 90s to 2004 or so was terrific to PC gaming, both in hardware and software.
My 4 year old love cars, and when he got curious about racing games, I started looking for simple but plain fun race games. I ended up installing DOSBOX with my copy of Screamers, and he got instantly hooked. He loved the graphics, but then he realized that race after race he was doing better and better. It is the kind of progression that got lost on many modern games.
I remember playing the first screamer on my P1 150Mhz back in the day. I was immediately blown away by it. I still boot it up now and then for a quick fix ;) Good job once again!
Never tried the first one, but screamer 2 was the first racing game I got as a present for our new pc in late 97 or 98. So many good memories with that game :)
I remember playing Screamer (aka Bleifuss) all the way back in 97, it was included with the Gold Games 2 Compilation and boy was it a blast to play, like almost all the games in the compilation EDIT: they also sold Ignition under the name Bleifuss Fun here in Germany, even when it has nothing to do with the Screamer series
I don't recall playing the first Screamer with 3D acceleration. I bought my very own 3DFX card around the time Screamer Rally came out and it was out of this world! :) Went back to Screamer 2 with a patch and it was amazing, but never knew that we could do the same with the first Screamer ;) Thanks for the tip! Have a great week! All the best!

Loved screamer when it came out. Would be great if there was an accelerated version. My other favourite at the time was a game called ‘fatal racing’ from Gremlin.
This game was my childhood, I used to race against my dad ghost cars for hours trying to beat him when I was like 4 or 5 y/o... Also had the second game, and nowadays I love playing MotoGP and Ride with my friends, but it's only now, thanks to your video that i realized it was the same studio, it makes me really happy, sorry if my english isn't that good, I suscribed to you channel and I'll be checking out your other videos when I have some more time :)
I just bought this on GOG and am loving it so far! It plays especially well with my PS4 controller, using the shoulder buttons to brake/accelerate and the D-Pad (yes, the D-Pad) to steer. Looking forward to playing Screamer 2 someday.
Played Screamer Rally just yesterday. Very good arcade racing game. EXOdos software gives instant access to any dos game, feels great! Thanks for the review.
@@itsaPIXELthing I didn't even know the dev was still making games. A good video indeed mate. I don't suppose you have any other 98 machine to try Screamer 2 on? I only ask because I wondered if the game's timing is based on the CPU clock like some of the old dos games (hence why they run too fast on modern machines). I use to play S2 on a 100mhz machine and it was smooth and playable but just a bit slow. Now, on my 1ghz 98 machine it runs so much quicker, not toooo fast and it's enjoyable, but leaves me with that nagging question, is it too fast? It's in fact quicker than your PII-400 from watching the vid. So I'm wondering if my 1ghz is just too fast. Does that make sense? I might buy a 1.6ghz or what ever will fit my mobo and test the fps.
I wanted Sega Rally so bad as a kid and got Screamer Rally instead. "We have Sega Rally at home". I still had loads of fun with it, and it had an arcade feel similar to Sega Rally.
I got one of the 'Screamer' games bundled free along with 'Wipeout 2097' when I picked up my Power VR. Both games made everything on the PlayStation look immediately dated.
Right? My poor old PS1 was relegated to a drawer the day I bought my Diamond 3DFX card ;) Thanks for watching and for sharing your memories, Shiryu! Have a great week! Cheers!
I still really love the first 3 titles in the screamer series. The high-res 640x480 mode in this first outing already looks great, but screamer 2 & screamer rally with the voodoo glide support takes it to another level. Pro tip: When running on real hardware, and not having access to a CRT, the best way to enjoy these early voodoo titles is through a LCD that supports its native resolution. Samsung, LG and a few manufacturers released 20" LCD tv's in the mid 2000's with a 640x480 VA panel. Most of these have VGA input. You can play loads of late dos titles and early glide games in 640x480 with no scaling artifacts.
Humm.. I have a 22'' Samsung TV connected to my ZX Spectrum +3 and Amiga 600. It has also VGA input. Have to try it out ;) Cheers! Thanks for watching and for your comment and tips! Have a great week!
Right? What a great game! :) Just discovered it recently, when researching for Screamer ;) Had to grab a copy! Cheers! Thanks for watching and for your comment! Have a great week!
It's a lot smoother if you use a 3DFX card. I remember playing Screamer 1 and 2 at this speed back in the day. When Screamer Rally came out, I was already a proud owner of a Diamond Voodoo 3DFX card with 4Mb :) Blew me away, not only with these games, but also with Tomb Raider, Carmageddon and Ignition! Thank you so much for watching and for leaving your feedback! Have a great week! Cheers!
Owned and played Screamer, Screamer 2 and Screamer Rally it due to these 3 games that i always look to see what racing games Milestone are working on. We need more arcade style games everyone is fixated on reality lets have some good old fashioned arcade racing fun. Ridge Racer, Burnout 1 and 2 these were great games...

Screamer 2 would "offer a lot more vehicles"? My GOG copy only has 4! I can't get a handle on its drifting mechanics though, so while I beat all the original Screamer's leagues, I have no shot in this sequel, not ever even managing to come in first on the England map.
Enjoyed the video. Not played Screamer in many years and noticed it's on GOG! Must admit though, I do not rate Milestone as a developer. Given their experience, games like Moto GP07 and the WRC series were truly horrible experiences, far worse than other, older games of the same style. I was a little surprised when i realised they did Screamer.

Screamer actually does support 3D acceleration via a patch. it supports the S3D API on the Virge cards though only the GX2 can run it acceptably.
