The reason for the glossy photos is probably because Raycon uses 3d renders, not actual photographs. The texture of the 3d model is likely more flat and rendered with aggressive light sources
You can also render images with material textures... :D
Josh, I’m missing proper comparison section - AirPods, AP Pro, Galaxy Buds etc. Comparative performance is how many viewers might be able to build better understanding of value proposition of raycons.
Galaxy buds pro is great, compared to this I definitely feel it'll win in all fields
Thanks for the honest review. I bought a pair because a few channels I watch and trust advertised them as having excellent sound quality. I was very disappointed and returned them. I bought a pair of Ear Fun wireless buds for $30 and was shocked at how much better they sounded by comparison.
Lesson learned, money > integrity. But I get it, the youtube life is hard for all but the top tier creators and it's easy for us to just fast forward the ad. If anything when I see a products ad being carpet bombed on every channel my brain instantly thinks low quality scam item.
This issue is most UA-camrs think a headphone is a headphone, and as per your comment, you 'trust' them which means people are getting a sub par product for the money without sometimes realising. One of my favourite UA-camrs has just started being sponsored by these, so disappointed lol
Sounds about what I expected after watching countless UA-camrs plug these. Emphasized bass and treble and kill mids for punch and "clarity" to please the average person who is happy with the headphones that come with an Iphone.
Awesome video, Josh! Do you plan to review the MoonDrop Blessing 2 by any chance?
Wow....that was a surprised review.
Question....have you tried the HifiMan 400se? Haven't seen many reviews at all and I wanted to know how they stack up with the x4 or the 4xx.
Joshua, do a series on the most popular amazon headphones under (insert dollar amount here) and if they suck or worth the price. I think there are a lot of china type brands there that people seem to love.
Hey have you seen the moondrop sparks? I bought them, and other than the bluetooth noise floor and lack of features, they are great true wireless imo
I'M glad somebody in the audiophile community finally made a video about these. thank you Josh i look forward to your video on the Nothing Ear 1 iem
DankPods?
@@ciekceTo be fair it seems Joshua got a newer model with different packaging (albeit sound is equally bad), but correct DankPods did it earlier
@@autotropicplaybench1819 DankPods has made a second Raycon video reviewing a newer model. To summarize, the new ones suck less than the old ones, but they still suck.
@@lukasegeling5205 Yep I did see that too and that was fun on having a little more nuance while still saying they were outright just bad, though that still had different box packaging than this one does.
Joshua, I'd love to hear your take on the Audeze Penrose.
Particularly regarding the gap in sound quality between the Penrose and, say, LCD 2C or LCD X or Sundara, etc.
In terms of sound quality, would the Penrose sit somewhere between the above mentioned audiophile headphones and the regular wireless gaming headphones like the Arctis Pro Wireless, G Pro X Wireless, etc?
Did you compare it with the huh-duh-six-hungeos?
of course i'd see another fellow floating hand enthusiast on a video about raycons
y'all heard of dankpods?
i appreciate your neutral pov in this review although it might annoy some extreme audiophiles
@@kiavaxxaskew I'm pretty sure most of us have at least some interest in wireless buds. Would I use them at home, no, not with much better headphones at my disposal. But out and about? Sure. There's Bluetooth DACs like the BTR5 that can make audiophile cans a bit more usable out and about, but even that doesn't result in an especially compact setup.
I don't see what would annoy people, he was very clear that its selling points are the features but the sound itself is quite bad. It is exactly what I expect from a general consumer market product. I do agree that it is nice to see him do a more objective review of them rather than memey "haha this is so bad".
@@LyK0sa exactly, portability is huge when you're out and about or at work. You wouldn't catch me dead with my over the ear headphones at work. Which is why I picked up some Sony MF-1000 XM4's and I'm super impressed with them. With a little eq tuning, they sound good, and the sound staging is extremely impressive for ear buds. Plus, the audio pass-through feature is great for my work environment. Different situations call for different solutions.
@@jeraldgunderson4349 Same, at work or doing anything outdoors. You can't just wear your huge open back headphones, not for looks or comfort or sound for that matter with all the noise around you.
Plus making phone calls is a big deal when out and about.
@@LyK0sa I bought some 15 dollar tws items for podcasts and youtube videos and they work well for that
I need so badly your *nothing ear (1)* review. You are my spiritual sound master.
Digressing here. I was a bit surprised you did not review the Apple Airpods Pro, even though you mentioned you use them? Or do you use the Airpods?
The thing that confuses me is they made some good steps, but stepped back compared to former models. I have an E50 and the E25 (The one here) and I used the E25 up until Summer of last year.
The E50 models can be separated for two frequencies. So say you want to put on a podcast for background noise and listen to study material, you can program either headphone to play different audio. That's not available in the E25, believe me I've tried, but they are together as a pair no matter how I mess with the Bluetooth. E50 is also good because it did a fine job blocking out ear wax that could muffle sounds through repeated use. Meanwhile the E50s began to have audio dips after about 4 months of use...like you have to take the pads off and wipe down the speaker directly...with mixed results (The left until recently was about a quarter as loud as the right, then suddenly after another seemingly futile effort at cleaning it rose above the right)
For the price I got them, it's fine. It's just jarring to know they removed features and the quality could be arguably worse in some circumstances.
Could you do a review of the fiio fh3? Heard some good things about it and want to hear your take
Personally I don't like them, but I do want to know what his thoughts are
Nice review that raycon was as expected
I would really appreciate a buds pro review I don't know why you haven't reviewed it
That should be as good as it gets for an audiophile for wireless earbuds
Thank you for being really honest about these. The tip on sound quality vs features has helped me somewhat focus whether I want to get RayCons or not. I honestly prefer reviews like this that don't just push all the great things about a product. What I wanna know is whether they're gonna break down on me, or if something's gonna get lost. So thank you, Josh! Great video!
Have you tried the tws bluetooth module for IEM or will do a review on them? I'm using the fiio utws3 and think it's amazing.
Hi :) is the topping A30pro review still coming? Thx!
Hey Josh, with the interest for luxury Bluetooth headphones increasing in demand, could you make a comparison of sub-$600 Bluetooth headphones and how they stack with each other? Really interested to see an audiophile's take on Bang & Olufsen, Bowers & Wilkins, Master & Dynamic, and other available Bluetooth devices.
20$ audio quality, 60$ features, 80$ price tag. I guess it checks out then...
Personally, I'd just wish I didn't have to hear every single youtuber peddle these crappy earbuds, some horrible mobile game or some VPN I have absolutely zero reason to use on me.
I bought them as a cheap pair of beater earbuds for work and I only listen to podcasts. For that purpose I think they are solid. Good battery life too with pretty good passive noise isolation.
You spent $80 for beater earbuds? 😂😂🤣🤣
@@kalel33 it's difficult to spend less for cordless earbuds
@@Regu269 For beater earbuds I have the Sony WC310. They're $18 on Amazon and are really good.
@@kalel33 sounds like they just wanted branded or popular earbuds lol I got some from Walmart for $25 and have been solid for half a year already

Would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the line of wireless earbuds from Soundpeats :-)
What is better? Sound BlasterX G6 (stock) or SMSL M3 so they are same price for me? Can You help me please? Thanks
I'm so glad I saw this. All the other reviews were saying it was too bass-y, so I was so confused why it was sounding shrill and harsh for me. Glad I'm not the only one who had this problem. I totally agree: I love everything about these earbuds except for the sound quality, which is ultimately the most important feature.
for me the sound quality is okay im not a massive audiophile and wanted something to use in bed with my phone for cheap i got mine for around 28 CAD with taxes and shipping definalty worth it
Would you compare these to the jabra elite 85t? Seems to have a similar sound curve, but costs $200
Good review, in the beginning i tough you wanted to "sell" these in this review, but then you went into details and started breaking it down, very nice.
Pretty much the "Beats" of earbuds. Same muddy mid/upper but good bass.
I've been an AKG fan for about 40 years, and love my N400NC TWS. Pricey, but worth it imho.
Do you have any other recommendations for wireless earbuds with good sound and features (or only sound) because I really want to give my cousin some wireless earbuds for his birthday
Congrats on 100k!!
Any chances of you reviewing the Noble Falcon Pro?
I have been using apples normal wired headphones but I can not afford airpods, should I move up the Raycons?
Can you possibly start doing reviews for more active style earbuds? It'd be awesome for your thoughts!
Do you do desktop speakers? I love your reviews and recently bought a hifiman sundara with a ifi dac/ amplifier and im loving it!
Which ifi?
@@bandhanjha8563 sorry for the late reply brother, the IFI HIP-DAC! Absolutely loving the bass boost feature, and the music sounds AMAZING. Great bass with no distortion. *mwah* 🤌
I'm about to answer my own question when I go search through your videos, but did you ever do reviews on the KZ series IEMs? I've heard crazy great things but there are so many different versions it's hard to distinguish what's correct.
True, didn't find logical reviews 😅
Buy the edx, cheap and great.
Beginner Audiophile here , I don't have anything to compare my experience to , but I can confidently tell you that my KZ ZST X's sound fantastic .
And yeah their naming is pretty confusing 😂 The "bang for the buck" models they're known for are mainly the ZST X and the ZSN pro X . Both are around 18-20 USD .
Josh hasn't done any reviews on KZ products afaik. They're not giant killers, but if you like a v-shaped tuning they compete pretty well at the budget prices they specialize in.
@@tharun7290 I have the ZS10 Pro's in my amazon shopping cart right now, so I'll let you know how that goes lol
What's the IP rating? What's the battery life? How many charges in the case? Can the left and right be used independently?
Love your honest review. (as always) Maybe, just maybe you worked a little at finding something to compliment;-) You're a nice guy. Thanks, Josh!
great review, thanks!
Could you maybe compare the raycons to the Airdots 2?
I think they could compare pretty well just that the Airdots dont cost half as much!
Have you ever tried soundmagic products?
What will be fit for my production?
I'm going to use for my mixing and Music production,Blon 03,dq6 and Pro x
For production, big over-ear headphones would be better. If you absolutely need to use IEMs (for portability), look for something with a more neutral sound (I don't have any specific recommendations here, because I only use IEMs for listening and I like a V-shape for that.)
Would love to hear your take/review on more consumer products like this, not just audiophile stuff because I'm surely not an audiophile but I do appreciate good sound.
I wish you can tell us more about how you feel in washington. I wanna move there and your input would be very appreciated 🙂
What are the speakers in the background?
Lypertek Pureplay Z3 would easily destroy these in terms of sound quality alone, owned the z3 and z7 and i can pretty guarantee it, but the lypertek have several issues with its software and u need to reset it sometimes to make it work as intended. Another excellent alternative if you are looking for under $70 earbuds would be the earfun free pro oluv edition, sounds very good with the tuning comapred to the stock edition, would highly recommend it as daily earbud with good connectivity and sound quality for its price.
what about the moondrop sparks?
What music player did he use in Sony Xperia 1 iii impression or audio video
A really good option for good wireless earphones are the Soundpeats H1 roughly the same price of $80 as well hehe
I second this. Better than sabbat e16, soundcore liberty pro 2
Hey, gonna make a moondrop aria review? Looks a lot like your jam
A nice review where you explain the sound signature pretty good.
Only the comparison is just ridiculous.
A person who is in the market for a tws wants the comfort of not having cables it's a given that you'll sacrifice sound quality with wireless and with tws buds even more.
They are made for different purposes.
Dude raycons sound like shit compared to hundreds of other tws, it's not just a tws thing🤣
@@michaelgilbert7841 I've never listened to the raycons but i have the xm3s.
Back then you could get them for €239 or €249 (im not sure anymore) but if you buy a wired headphone in that price category or even €100 less 99 out of the 100 times you'll get better sound from it but you pay the premium for tws just because of the comfort of not having any cables.
My point is that if you want a tws you won't get a wired iem.
@@michaelgilbert7841 Yeah it's given, but it would make more sense if it will be compared to other TWS earbuds only, its a common knowledge that wired buds always sounds better compared to TWS buds at the same price range.
I've always wanted someone who actually knows about sound to review Raycons, awesome video.
Fyi I use wireless earbuds for my job in a warehouse and also for exercise and I still think the galaxy buds plus are an excellent value. They down to $100 even now and I think they actually sound quite good. Pretty close to the new XM4 earbuds from Sony but minus the noise cancelling feature and with top class battery life. And if you like a little lighter in bass I know some audiophiles prefer the original galaxy buds and those are like $50 or $60 now

SoundPeats are some of the best price to performance earbuds for audio (maybe not features). They're the only TWS brand I'll buy for sound. TrueAir 2 and TrueEngine 3 are bananas good for the price.
For the same price as the raycon, you can get the H1 which is a way better option
Soundpeats TrueAir 2 is an absolute gem! It beats most TWS out of the competition with its sound and build quality, no cap.
at first, i thought the true wireless thing was pretty stupid, but after trying out some bluetooth adapters with my wired iems/headphones, i figured i should at least give a try. long story short, i got a the trn bt1 (a true wireless iem) and i found it so convenient that the only other set i use nowadays is my sleeping iems (sony mh755). the concept sounds pretty stupid, but once you actually use them, but in practice it's actually really nice to use
Looking forward to your review of the Nothing Ear (1).
which version of genelec speakers are in the background?
I liked the video very much. I use Raycons and I love the long charge, easy fit and durability. I mostly use them for podcasts while walking or on the subway and they are perfect. I did have to laugh, though, when you said they would not be a good fit for true audiophiles. Firstly, I would assume audiophiles would want larger headphones to cancel out outside noises. And more importantly, since all wireless headphones are designed to work primarily with mp3 or other heavily compressed files, none of them would be good for audiophiles who want the greater sound quality from CDs and esp. vinyl.
I think the shots where the raycons and the Diana phi TCs are within 2 feet of each other are hilarious
It would be dope to hear your analysis of sound of the more reputable earbuds out there (Sennheiser, Bowers and Wilkins, Nura, Jabra, etc).
And the real question....bruh...what true wireless earbuds do YOU use? Haha

I hope you could review galaxy buds plus, because they are in the same price range as these and are, at least imo, much much better.

I'd like a suggestion of one true wireless that sounded better a bit more money or something a little cheaper that sounded similar, otherwise it might be that this is an impressive product since if under the same constrains no one did comparably
Using the stock eq, they sound good. No, they aren’t Beats, but the comfort and options more than make up for it. It’s more than $20 sound.
Do these get loud? I mean like near pain threshold? Every true wireless I have tried so far just seems to be two or three clicks short on where I would like the volume to be.
