    Great informative video! Tinker popped up at 17:22! I however did not use your method to fix the problem. The issue is a divot that wears into the plate you replaced. If you are cheap like me you simply fix the plate you have by using a bench grinder to smooth out the divot then just lubricate the area and reinstall. Your video does a great job of showing the steps to take it all apart and reinstalling.

    I have the LT3000 and just took care of this problem before seeing this video. I still had a GOOD return spring. However, looking at the wear marks on the plate, (beyond the divots that those rollers create) I also discovered that the bottom of the plate had significant wear (FRICTION) against the mower deck. Under that plate is a large but thin washer intended to keep it from resting on the mower deck. I added a large slightly thicker washer which made the difference for me. I also hand filed those divot spots smooth again.

    This has to be the best video on the internet showing how to do this. Very clear and concise. I noticed that I'm missing that spring, too! I guess I'll be ordering one.

    I’m not sure what’s available at sears anymore but Amazon is carrying them cause I just looked a package deal that includes the arm as well as the two brakes with the roller cams on them. It even includes the springs all for under $30. I think it was 27.99. This is the same repair package. I used to carry on the truck when I used to work for Sears repair services. It only makes sense to replace it all with that kind of money. Of course you should also make sure the bearings are good on those idler pulleys while you have them off. Those idler pulleys are kind of expensive, but the actual bearings can be purchased very cheaply usually and it’s not that big of a project to replace them.

    Great video. I installed the new plate, but the blades still turn. At 12:40 on your video, you can see a tab above the half moon slot that acts as a stop for the plate. My new plate goes all the way to this tab but blades still turn. My thought was to cut a groove in the new plate to allow it to move further to disengage the blade. I found this plate in a deck kit I had ordered years ago, any thoughts.

    I would fill in that indentation by welding, then perfectly shape it like the original and never have that problem again. Weld is harder than mild steel. The new part will fail in time also.

    Tinker on your LT2000 when you increase your engine speed do your blades spin the same speed or faster

    • @TinkerForward
      @TinkerForward  3 роки тому

      Hi, I believe they spin the same speed

    • @Chuck_S
      @Chuck_S 2 роки тому +2

      The belts spin with the engine. Therefore when you throttle up 🐇 to increase your engine speed the blades spin faster as well. But blade speed is in no relation to transmission/wheel speed.

    Didnt need to spend any money for that bottom plate to fix your problem. Look at the part and sand/grind any burs off and replace. There is a video on it. Highly recommend sanding some of that rust off all the moving parts and add a lite grease before putting all the pieces back in place.

  • @NTSRFR4

    Couldn't you put a little weld on that groove to fill it in and then hit it with a grinder to smooth it out?

    • @NTSRFR4
      @NTSRFR4 8 місяців тому

      Dang, that spring could have been the main cause if the problem. I know someone with a Poulan Pro that just started with the blades not disengaging and also there was a spring like that all stretched out and wrapped around one of the blades. We haven't been able to find where the spring came from so far though.
      On second thought, it couldn't just be the spring, because that would be too easy.

    Why not just clearance that plate, or the one that’s causing the interference, or both? Seems like a five minute job with a good die grinder.
