Hmm.. I actually looked at the replacement brake prices for my lawn mower deck, $25x3. I didn't know they sold "pucks". So I actually went cheaper - I drilled a hole into the brake lever(a spring steel), and mounted a $4/4 bicycle brake pad to it. I'll see how it wears over the course of a season... Had to adjust the spacing, of course. Mine adjusts by a nut on a rod, so it was easy.
I have working on lawn equipment for over 65 years- i use piece of hardwood
Thank you for info.where to get bads

Another great tip I wasn't even looking for!
I'm fed up with brake pads -- or "pucks" -- falling out when I dismantle brakes for maintenance so was looking for a tip on how to put a coupla dabs of glue on them. Ideas, anyone? Thanks.
I was wondering what you think about using epoxy itself for the brake pad? I was thinking I could build a ridge all the way around with tape or foil or something ,Not important what & then fill it in with epoxy. It would be faster & you could make it any thickness. What do you think? Thank you
I don't think epoxy itself will work.
But I could be wrong.
heat the Cured glue up. keep tabs on how warm you have it. Most epoxies begin to fail as they approach 200F and fail completely at about 250F.
Since you know full well that braking generates heat this may or not be an issue for you.
There are high temp epoxies. JB makes one
@Raul28153
Heat won't be an issue on the blade Brake Pads as they only take about 2 seconds to stop the blades from turning once disengaged.
The Pads aren't being used until disengage then about 2 seconds to stop the blades from turning.
Definitely don't do this on a vehicle...lol

@@sartingarage8045 I didn't ask. I should have: What is the marketing pitch for a blade brake in the first place? What benefit did they claim was being delivered? I'm scratching my head over this.
@Raul28153
There is actually a tester for the Blades to stop turning in a certain amount of time. I forget the exact time limit but it's like 3 seconds Max

@@sartingarage8045 How very interesting. Leave it to government to but in everywhere. So according to that, the blade must stop which would be an issue for mowers that are direct drive. I guess the motor has to stop too. I haven't used a walk behind in decades. My last one was a 10 year old Ransomes almost 30 years ago and since then it's been Ferris Zero turn riders.
Im running into issues on reinstall. What is the order of reinstallation. I cant get both bolts to start.
