- The secret is (nearly) out! Join Brandon Sanderson and special guest Esther Hi’ilani Candari (www.hiilanifinearts.com/) this Friday evening as they discuss the new secret project. 43:28 As a fan I just want to add my voice to the plethora of others commending you for your stance on adaptations. I think the vast majority of us would rather have no adaptation than a bad adaptation, and I personally don’t care how long I have to wait so long as any adaptations that do come along are one hundred percent Brandon and team Dragonsteel approved.
100% agree. Especially with all of the incredibly bad adaptations we've gotten here recently, I'd rather just wait for things to line up nicer. The Dune movies are amazing adaptations of the story, and that one came 60 years after the first book was published

I love that you all at Dragonsteel go through the effort these streams and videos. Other authors do not do this kind of thing, nor do they need to, but I am grateful that one of my favorites does :)
This is why he's the modern GOAT! He takes such good care of his fanbase and still churning books like a madman
The comment about Sixth and Rock getting along was funny, but Sixth live his entire life at sea level, I feel like Rock might take extreme offense to that 🤣
I'm sooo excited for this one! Sixth of the Dusk is my favourite Cosmere story, such an amazing setting and characters. I don't have enough money to back the campaing, but I'll be waiting eagerly for the normal bookstore release! 💚
You might not like ebooks or audio but you can just get those quite cheap. The ebook is only $10.
Yep, you don’t have to back the expensive leatherbound to get the Secret Project. You can get that on its own!

I had the same experience with the Sistine Chapel. It's amazing how much better it was than all the other 10/10 masterpieces.
I get technical difficulties and all, but I wish they gave Esther more spotlight rather than answering random questions not related to the secret project

So I seem to have missed the prior live stream? I knew about the 5th secret project (and backed it) ... but this stream seems to presuppose much more than just the existence of the book.
in a video a couple of days ago he did a reading from secret project 5 which gave us more info about what would be involved in it

@Brandon Sanderson: How will this book affect the canonicity of previously-published versions of Sixth of the Dusk?
I think he said in the chapter readings that the unofficial chapter reading for Sixth of Dusk 2 would be roughly the same with some minor details changed or edited. The short story should be nearly the same.

I’m really glad to hear that Dragonsteel is being picky with adaptations. The Good Omens adaptation is an extreme example of author pickiness, and that turned out amazing.

Brandon should just read the One Piece manga if he doesn't have time. 3 chapters a day and he'd be caught up in a year. Maximum 30 minutes a day and probably a lot less.
I don't wanna be one of those annoying one piece fans but this is the top comment on my list so I must like it by law 😂

One Piece is great but IMO shouldn't be a top recommendation for Brandon.
@@Kestrel-lp8hoI think a lot of people want Brandon to read One Piece because it has a very similar combination of scope and intentionality to the Cosmere. Both massive narratives with tons of references to their own intricate continuity that both have a clear plan and require incredible improvisation to make the process of executing that plan actually work as an entertaining and emotional story
As much as I love One Piece, I am unsure that Brando would enjoy it, and I don't know that he has the time

My understanding is that Mistborn Era 4 is supposed to be the last thing chronologically in the Cosmere

For the audiobook, it would be amazing if the narrators were Pacific Islander or Southeast Asian!
6 fans here, all agree with not making an adaption until it can be a good one. We would all rather have no adaptation ever and love the books than have a bad adaptation come out.

So what exactly is this secret project??.
He turned what once was the short story "Sixth of Dusk" and what was originally going to be it's sequel into one novel, now titled "Isles of the Emberdark". The original "Sixth of Dusk" is included in the novel as a flashback sequence, while the main story is a dual narrative between Dusk and the one of Hoid's 3 apprentices, a female Dragon named Starling. How exactly their stories intertwine we don't know. Book releases after Stormlight 5, around Q1/Q2 2025

L take. There are very comprehensive filler guides. That's like saying don't watch Naruto or Bleach or Dragon Ball lol.
It doesn’t get that to not be worth recommending until Marineford-Timeskip. I’m still watching the anime in Punk Hazard, and I can’t imagine maintaining this pacing in Dressrosa. I’m switching to the manga.
Manga is the way to go. And maybe the movies
