@@The_Reductionist He is a dragon Hoid writes to in IIRC Oathbringer. One of the parts' little opening paragraph bits was his letter to Frost, or Frost's response, I believe.
@@Z3DT You're correct on both--part of the letter is from Hoid to Frost, the other is vice versa. The term you're looking for is epigraph. Edit: It's not Oathbringer though. It's Way of Kings and Words of Radiance.

Did you read Tress? Or The Way of Kings or Words of Radiance? Tress straight up features a dragon. TWoK and WoR both mention Frost by name. They've been present for a while!

It's true. I maintain that the community is a big part of the fun. The interaction with the author, and the fun fans. Brandon does such a good job at being transparent and involved.
It’s weird that when Frost shows up it feels like an appearance from an old character we all know and love even though this is actually the first time we have seen him in person.

@@ccol17215A dragon we only know of through the letter Hoid writes him in the Way of Kings Epigraphs and his response to Hoid in the Words of Radiance Epigraphs
There is an unpublished short story where he and Hoid talk about the events of Scadrial Era 1. I don't think it's really canon, but we have technically seen him in person if you count it.
He also appears in Dragonsteel Prime but that's noncanon
Frost, Nazh, Hoid, Xisis, Dusk, aethers, metalborn, radiants, aviar, Hoards, Silverlight, and YOLEN all in one book??

Isles of the Emberdark might be the most Fantasy name for a Fantasy book I've ever heard and I love it. Way of Kings, Mistborn, even Elantris, you might not know what the genre was. But Isle of the Emberdark, you know your in for a Fantasy adventure.
Yeah I'm picturing broken floating chunks of land in a lightning filled cluttered void. Kinda like the Reef in Destiny
Lol the first time a friend of mine tried to convince me to read the Way of Kings, I thought it was a historical fiction based in the title (they refused to tell me anything about the book, just pestered me to read, and I am stubborn)

i think he actually mentioned something like this in response to someone asking about the possibility of a Radiant making their bonded spren into a ShardGun and talking about how he'd make that happen if it's able to fit within the rules he's established for his Cosmere, wasn't expecting that to just get dropped on us like this though lmao
We've actually had an early version of that chapter for a few years now, Brandon read it at the release party for RoW back in 2020. It's cool to see that the book it's from is finally getting released.
Yolen, Dragons, Dusk. Well, time to tack this at the end of the Cosmere Reading order.

probably because that chapter brandon has read to us before so it was not new to most of us. The Dragon and Yolen stuff is new to us and very exciting. not that the super war isn't gonna be exciting, weve just been aware of it for some time.
I reakon bullets of some sort - makes sense that a spren can become the shape of a gun/function like one, but not really that it could fire part of itself (in the form of bullets) over a distance.
That's my guess at least!

@@MrHulainecouldn’t it? Similar to how they can throw their swords if they concentrate on not dismissing it. And then they can dismiss the bullets and resummon them after firing perhaps.

So we got hints at Frost, Xixis, Cognitive Shadow Nazh, possible name drop for the Aether world, Dhatri, possible new shard with Prosperity, a knight radiant in 40k style power armor (Windrunner or Skybreaker?), Scadrian starships, Hoid is missing again, and the two powerhouse Sanderson series, Mistborn and Stormlight, heading to galactic conflict with the Sleepless involved?

I'm pretty sure the knight was a skybreaker because of him asking about the laws on first of the sun, also the skybreaker glyph looks kinda like a bird how dusk described it
Good catch on prosperity! It makes a lot of sense for the last shard to be prosperity from what brandon has said about what they're up to

@curtiswfranks I agree, it could go either way but people that can fly that care about laws is a way we've identified skybreakers in the past
@@prestonc9059: Oh, I think that they most definitely are a Skybreaker. So, the question is whether they were a Windrunner too. The shardplate may be of two different colors, representing different Orders. Or something else. Hard to say.

That's not Sixth of the Dusk. That was from a RoW release reading. We've been waiting on this sequel since then
@@durvilemayfieldsr7150 The original Sixth of the Dusk is going to be included as flashbacks with some minor changes. That's the whole part about having a guide for those who have already read it and don't want to reread it.

And then cutting the chapter on "...yours." - you are really good at leaving us hanging, ey? Jokes on you, i'm into this particular kind of torture!

@@hrothgarnogar yeah, but every Cosmere story is a woven thread of many other stories. It still has that coming of age story of Starling and her transformation as a part of it, albeit probably a small one. Should be ridiculously epic as a whole!

Point of note, Brandon. (when describing the white scales). Wouldn't it be a 'tint' of white, not shade? Shade is adding black to a base color, but there is no base color to white. It's your world though! Looking forward to holding the project once completed.
To be fair albinism doesn’t always mean a complete lack of melanin but a severe lack of it. I personally have albinism but don’t have a complete lack of melanin so I don’t have complete white hair.
So, I'm new to the Cosmere (finished Mistborn Era 1 and started Warbreaker). I backed this project because of how passionate everyone was about the first secret projects. After hearing the first chapter, I know that I need to go get the other secret projects immediately. Honestly, a big thank you to Brandon for making me a voracious reader again. It's been so much fun.
Good thing this comes out next year, gives me time to prep by reading every book in the cosmere!

OK the prologue had me excited, and then he read the first sentence of chapter 3 and I SCREAMED
What I REALLY want to see is an army of futuristic Radiants with Shardguns and Stormlight powered battleships fighting against an army of Mistings, Mistborns, Feruchemists, Hemalurgic beings, and all sorts of combinations with crazy contraptions that helps them best utilize their own powers.
