+Whitewingdevil To be fair, this is probably the second time LRR has played with cards from Alara block. The first time is likely the Pot O'Gold video they did for MTGOAcademy.
The Lorwyn flavor text of Oblivion Ring is "a circle of sugar and a word of forbiddance," and the Shards one is "a circle of light and a word of confinement." Huh, cool.
I just watched, all on youtube. My only problem was the draft itself - after the first few cards, I basically just skipped the draft, because I wasn't familiar with the format (which, to be fair, basically doesn't exist). Also, I couldn't keep up with either player's picks because they weren't up, and their reasoning wasn't clear (again, mostly because this format doesn't exist). That said, everything else was great. The card reader helped IMMENSELY. Showcasing different matches mostly regardless of record was great, allowed plenty of variety and interest. The setup of the video itself is actually pretty amazing - I get to see literally everything, from the board state to the players to the cards themselves, it's all awesome and exactly what I want from this kind of thing. I actually wish everyone had the card recognition technology you all have here - it would make pretty much every form of physical coverage twice as good as it is now.
Okay, I know I am a couple years behind, but Graham, Telemin Performance is probably bad in Draft, but is in fact a Legacy SB staple, mostly in stuff like Storm decks.
I really love these drafts that are done the only issue I have and that has been mentioned previously is the draft segment which is my favorite part. It's really hard to know what's happening during that segment and I'm not sure there's an easy fix. Maybe make a mtgo type set up where you have Paul open them beforehand and line them up like in mtgo, screen shot it, and number the packs. It would create a situation where Graham (our followed player) starts with pack 1 and so below we can see all 15 cards. He then takes his pick and gets pack 2, repeat. Even if cards are being taken from the packs we'll still be able to see what all 15 were in each pack, what was taken, and then compare what's left to what was there to start. I'm sure this would be a huge ordeal but may be worth it if paper drafts are going to be more common?
2:02:34 Sphinx should have gotten exiled. It was the target of an ability. Crystallization would exile it at that point. Didn't change the outcome, but that was an error.
It would have been nice (if able) to get the auto card recognizers on James and Graham's cards. 42 minutes in. a) YAY! Done with drafting. b) I have no idea what's going on. Maybe... Paul can narrate a single drafter's picks?
Depends on how long ago this happened. What was the airdate? If it's recent, then yeah, but if it's older, then it was probably tthe SOI pre-pre-release.
also serge is too nice sometimes. he warns his opponents of things. and a more cutthroat player would've let his opponent attack and then blow him out with the double capsule and then block the now non flying 2/1 but instead he did it pre attackers and left the elemental and the second stormblade alive. granted he got to nab the birds but still. lol
I had a lot of trouble reading the cards while they were drafting and james talked about his picks as if he was drafting in online wich made it hard to understand the others sometimes When they held them closers to the cams it was alot easier to read it would probably be better if the two with the drafting cameras also have mics so you can understand them over the small talk from the others (Maybe graham had one i had an easy time understanding him)
Well I mean I watched it, I'm just more partial to watching actual games of magic and figure that If someone wants to cut close to the action, it's a fine courtesy to let them.
"lets not tap our mana bad" taps a dual instead of a basic lol. but also i love how serge says he doesnt like the zombies against artifacts gets talked into playing it because he takes artifacts then faces the mirror match lol
At 2:02:40, shouldn't serge's sphinx be dead b/c it was targeted by an ability while it had crystallization on it? Also, why didn't he activate sludge strider for lethal when those 5 thopters (that never should have entered play as sphinx should have been dead)?
Cam I love you but please for the love of all the Gods of all the Realms stop card flicking! The noise it makes on mic is somewhere between intensely infuriating and aurally nauseating. Other than that, great stream guys, thanks very much!
that was almost back to back mistakes from cam. he should have played out the predator dragon pre-combat and attacked back to back turns because the predator dragon has haste (game over). also was so dumb to not fiery fall the behemoth.
+exaveron I would disagree on the play with the predator dragon since playing it that turn and attacking through would have left him shields down and a single red permanent on James side would have been lethal since it would have given the spider +1/+0.
"Chat says you have 39 cards." well friggin' done, Chat.
Bounced a plains with the borderpost, then forgot to re-play the plains. Silly Graham.

I love the fact that Graham and James both pick an oblivion ring, then next pack found a lavalanche XD
Wait it got better.
I just liked this person’s funny comment and then discovered that they were written by me from 3 years ago 😂
19:20 for the simultaneous Oblivion Ring pick.
Lol, was about to post it, it was great
God looking at every pack and going "Man that'd be sweet in my cube"
yeah no kidding
Idk some of these cards wish they were wetpath sherpas
James definitely had to take that dragon. I'm not an expert, but I think a foil Dragon Broodmother is a good pick

That crack-a-pack at the end - James "Unless the card cures cancer it's trash" Turner.
Wait, Graham's on 4/5 color fun things?
It's Alara. Seems dece
This is maybe the happiest I've seen Cam in a draft video
When he says " you can see our pics " and said the camera was between his legs.... I misheard one of those statements
This is one of my favorite sets of all time.
my love for mtg is real, this is how bad I want to play lol, that I am rewatching these over and over
Alara was probably my favorite block, so this was a really cool watch.
Here's a fun question!
Are the foils from these alara foil packs a different foil than regular alara pack foils?
Welp, James opened my favorite card pack three. Way to go!
Super jelly now though.
6 months later and I am still watching these drafts lol
I wish I would've caught that live, good job crew.
Cam + Steven Universe =
Okay, I know I am a couple years behind, but Graham, Telemin Performance is probably bad in Draft, but is in fact a Legacy SB staple, mostly in stuff like Storm decks.
2:16:16 Serge played a sphinx summoner for no black, and then used his only black source to play another creature. Cheats?
Damn, Cam has some serious pen flipping skills

1:17:00 when Graham played lavalanche, I mashed the fuck out of the like button
God damn it Serge, that Sharting Sphinx nearly killed me...
Was this their first LRRMTG branded live draft?
It would be cool if they did this for every block where there was a novelty pack with foil cards from all the sets
+Billy La Bufanda It would ruin the secondary markets price of foils completely and turn everything upside down i think
+Noah Nielsen who cares about the "market price of foils" it would be so fun and cool
Dakota Stedman But it would kind of take away the fun that is foils as they are despecialized.
2:02:34 Sphinx should have gotten exiled. It was the target of an ability. Crystallization would exile it at that point. Didn't change the outcome, but that was an error.
1:11:54 Adaaaam blow up the Borderpost!!! How often do you get early mana denial in a draft format? Sigh. Missed opportunity
Aaaand he got Lavalanched. Turns out it would've mattered.
James 'Switch to Wide shot and then put stuff on the cardreader' Turner
This was brilliant. But somehow it only made me more hyped for the chaos draft.
the Ian punts, so painful. I know he's a new player, but man that hurts.
I'm now half-expecting a Friday Nights to use the term "Flasted" when someone gets killed by a flying haste creature.
Hype for the hype for the hype!!!!
It would have been nice (if able) to get the auto card recognizers on James and Graham's cards.

Looking at Graham sitting at 2 life "I've won Standard games on 1". Boy, am I optimistic :P
Yup, it's tank with face, cast Ugin, win kind of deal :)
Absolutely expected Cam to pick Grixis.
Called it.
how did i know graham was going to force five color?!
What happened to James' pinkie? Looks like he smashed it.
+TJForceIX He applies nail polish for each PAX. I think blue is for Prime.
Ah, ok. Only to one nail? Interesting.
why is James's deck so thin? 40 cards yeah?
Announcement is probably the Chaos Draft
Depends on how long ago this happened. What was the airdate? If it's recent, then yeah, but if it's older, then it was probably tthe SOI pre-pre-release.

Serge's deck is really good

Poor Ian, if he'd just played the Cormorants and swung with the team, he had lethal.
Serge tap your mana the full 90 degrees, it's killing me!
Can you please do a live draft of James' Pauper Cube @loadingreadylive
I could build a second America with all the triggers and fights Serge and Ian missed.
Love the vids there so good
5-color good stuff, but graham forgot the good stuff
what pen/pencil is cam spinning?
+john mackay That's a Staedtler 2mm lead holder. If youtube will allow the link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000YQEFGU
thank you my good (insert pronoun hear)
foil thopter foundry is a trade binder include going for $30+
nobody wants to make a thallid?
About 41:30 If you're not one for watching draft.
But..that's the best part of it D=
that and 5 colors badtsuffs
Well I mean I watched it, I'm just more partial to watching actual games of magic and figure that If someone wants to cut close to the action, it's a fine courtesy to let them.
now i want some alara darn
Yes good set up
"lets not tap our mana bad" taps a dual instead of a basic lol. but also i love how serge says he doesnt like the zombies against artifacts gets talked into playing it because he takes artifacts then faces the mirror match lol
GRAHAM NO. JUND EM!!
He could have such a sick jund deck! :(
Serge cheated in game two he played two spell with black in the mana cost and had only one black source to tap for mana.
Do a kaladesh draft
no alex? doesn't he want to jund em out?
+Jordan PM Klein Alex doesn't really like drafting all that much. Also, might have been busy.
Fun game, I liked when chat tricked paul into saying the b-word in russian
why would they make a team draft? why not just do swiss rounds and have best decks play eachother
probably to make sure all 6 got screentime
James you forgot to scry 1
24:00 Graham's face on dat 2nd copy
30:50 Another Graham breaking the 4th wall
Lol, Serge's hiccup at 2:19:28
Adahmergeiajam!
At 2:02:40, shouldn't serge's sphinx be dead b/c it was targeted by an ability while it had crystallization on it? Also, why didn't he activate sludge strider for lethal when those 5 thopters (that never should have entered play as sphinx should have been dead)?
These are all just words to me.
Exalted from another players card? B fucking S.
Cam I love you but please for the love of all the Gods of all the Realms stop card flicking! The noise it makes on mic is somewhere between intensely infuriating and aurally nauseating.
