SCP-2399 - A Malfunctioning Destroyer : Object Class - Keter : Indestructible SCP

Object Class: Keter
Special Containment Procedures: Due to SCP-2399's location and nature, physical means of containment are currently impossible. Implanted Foundation agents in major observatories are to contain footage or images of SCP-2399. An ongoing misinformation campaign is in effect, which has thus far been able to completely suppress any knowledge pertaining to SCP-2399 from public awareness.
Foundation satellites in orbit around Jupiter are to maintain constant vigilance of SCP-2399's reconstruction efforts, and make all attempts to hinder that process should SCP-2399 reach a minimum of 75% completion. Additionally, a perimeter of long-range electromagnetic jamming satellites (BARRIER Array) has been situated in high-Jupiter orbit. Any transmissions intercepted by this array are to be summarily decoded and logged.

Y'all never actually seen or read good horror and it shows.
This is one of my favourite pieces of cosmic horror, definitely the best I’ve seen from SCP. Unstoppable, beyond our comprehension, and prevented by luck, and desperate humans trying to stop it, with the most primitive of technologies.
One can only hope they'd view our planet and civilization the same way we view Sentinel island; small, primitive, and not worth messing with.
Then there are also things like the Claw. That kinda make the fear of scps like this moot. Which is why I like the foundation.

Assuming they intercepted the commands and assuming they DECODED THEM (since they show us the commands in english) They could attempt to use that knowledge to send a valid command
Or, just a thought. Tell it to hold position and cease repairs. If the problem of 'it may eventually receive a signal' is that it may eventually repair enough of the comms equipment, commanding it to cease repairs should halt that.

Innocuous_Cat The "Red Spot" isn't just some intergalactic hurricane on Jupiter's surface, but the result of the weapons of whatever 2399 is going off prematurely. Not to mention it has repair drones, etc. that the Foundation has difficulty disabling. In a sense, Jupiter is the Death Star, and Earth is Alderaan. Only a matter of time before they give the all-clear to fire...

at 15:06 it said "Unit is out of range of target: proceed to planet #3 in system." This means that earth wasn't the original target it was change because the real target is out of range so its more like storm troopers drove the death star into a planet on the way there then what they were aiming for is out of range so they aim for Alderaan.
MLGdux Hell, maybe in a relieving but still scary scenario, it merely wants to use Earth as its base of operations? By landing there (and probably wiping out all forms of life in the process) it can proceed to its intended target.
Something interesting to go along with your theory, MLG...maybe its true target is our own Sun? In a sense, blasting Earth to smithereens might be a "mercy kill" in the eyes of the aliens. If they were a cruel and heartless extraterrestrial intelligence, maybe they would rather have us suffer a slower but more agonizing death by destroying our Sun? It's just a thought, but hey, who knows?
It occurred to me that the best way to destroy the SCP would be to knock a moon out of orbit and slam it into the ship because that seemed to work pretty well

@@wood9738 Honestly... I find this SCP to be the most Dangerous. Remember, they said best estimates put 25 Years (assuming estimate recieved in 2015) before it breaks the Barrier. Meaning itll get that Code that says "Cease Repairs and go to earth". I dont think we can and the fact we now have 20 Years till 2040 when this thing is supposed to break our barrier and recieve its order

Witch got no reaction. scp 096-1. And if you are literally asking how they took a photo without looking, your smart phone camera can locate a face and auto focus dude. No human needs to literally see the photo. Just confirm it was taken. Or they could have had some poor class D take it and be ready to re contain 096 on the spot and cover said photo. My favourite one isn't even scary, it's just a bus some hippies somehow outfitted to be a spaceship, but somehow they fucked up the calculations and they all starved to death or overdosed. It's mostly just kind of depressing and I feel it's kind of an analogy for how the 60s were full of optimism and wishful thinking, followed by crushing, depressing reality.

Would be amusing if the second transmission that was totally blocked was a "oh shit, there must be intelligent life in that system after all - stop mucking with the place and lay low and don't harm them" but we stopped that, and so it original order "repair by any means necessary" keeps going and one day it requires something (for some reason - another SCP entity?) from Earth - that is, leaving everything alone would have saved us (like with that on SCP regarding the scarlet king).

The barrier satelites are blocking the message from reaching 2399, but, if the message would reach it, then yes, it would come here.
The last instructions it got before the barrier were set up was "unit damaged: repair" so, that's what it's going to do unless told otherwise.
Good thing the foundation still has those things running.

Chronologically, the ship entered the solar system in the 17th century and hit Io. This damaged it to the extent where it got sucked into Jupiter's gravitational field
After that, it began receiving orders from another galaxy telling it to repair.
Then, there was a period of radio silence; the person on the other end of the comms console probably thought it would spend that time repairing. But, because it was stuck in a hostile gas giant, it took longer than expected.
Then we set up the communication barrier array, which is (for the moment) succeeding in preventing the destroyer from receiving its orders, but it's slowly building its communications systems and in around 25 years the communications will get through.
They sent the machine an order to proceed to planet #3 and then go to a encrypted location for repairs.
Then, the machine got a new order to just proceed to planet #3 and to disregard any further repairs; the target [Earth] was the priority. These instructions have been continuously transmitted since 2015, but due to the blocker array none of them have gotten through aside from the original order before the array was put in place.

Tried that already. It caused a paradoxical loop. We write it in the book only for the book to redact it along with the memory of ever had written in it in the first place. So, we write in the book which redacts it and we do it all over again ad infinitum. That in itself has caused an SCP that now needs containment and we don't have a clue what to do... ”How about we use that magical book that...”(guard walks over shoots him in the head.) An explanation for this SCP is that its current file is a cover story for its true nature. 2399, The Destroyer, is an alien ship/construct/intelligence that is connected to Mekhane (The Church of The Broken Gods diety). During the 1940’s The Church Of The Broken God managed to assemble a group of anomalous machine parts together as they neared the completion of what they believed to be a vessel for the Mekhane they were presented with The Broken Gods “heart” SCP 882 which in truth was a false heart fabricated by the Group Of Interest “The Factory” presumably given to Robert Bumaro as a “gift” or handed to some devout sect of TCOTBG, upon completion of “the broken god” the machine parts became a mechanized entity that would devour any kind of matter, the more matter it devoured the larger it became, it (in the SCPverse) was responsible for creating the gulf of California. With hope fading and the world facing an XK event a humanoid entity came forth to the Allied Occult Initiative, what would later become the Global Occult Coalition with a unique artifact that it claimed could stop 001 and the imminent XK event. The humanoid entity was given permission to take the artifact to the site of 001, the morning after it arrived 2399 appeared in the sky and proceeded to fire a weapon that emitted a blue beam, this weapon was sufficient enough to damage SCP 001 and render it completely inert/inactive, however not before 001 could cause significant damage to 2399. In the AOI after report and some interviews with former Church members it is revealed that 2399 is apparently capable of inter dimensional travel as it is revealed 001 “damaged the device it uses to slip between dimensions” which explains why it is where it is, it’s repairing itself until the day it is needed to destroy 001, which may come sooner than you think!

I don't think so it even states in the Twisted Gears proposal for SCP 001 that the file for SCP 2399 is merely a cover story, 2399 sustained critical damage during its engagement with 001 and as a result could not use its warp/wormhole technology to return home and therefore chose to hide in Jupiter's atmosphere to make repairs and apparently its not going so well and it seems like the Foundation is secretly devising a means to communicate with 2399 to assist with its repairs should it ever be needed to destroy SCP 001 again. It doesnt seem like this is the first time 001 and 2399 have faced off the Church member states that it was damaged before the incident in the 1940's.

I wouldn't say 2399 is on our side, If anything it is a creation of the Mekhane (The Church of The Broken God's deity) so I would say its benign.
It would make sense if the O5 initiation didn't specifically state that SCP-001 doesn't exist and is in fact absolutely nothing.

Fartuess No, the rescue stranded ship anomaly doesn't always fail. I saw it pop up in an Apocalypse playthrough I'm currently watching and saw that event happen. The guys I was watching were able to get the ship which I'm not sure if it's random or not but they got a free Cruiser out of it.
I highly suggest the SCP-2399 video made by Infame Kato. It's absolutely amazing.
as we've seen, The SCP foundation has superluminal travel, meaning they could easily create a generation ship that moves at the speed of light.
Some of the other stories especially the one about the architect, creator of all SCPs(SCP-184), have shown that the foundation has been capable of making machines that move FAR beyond the speed of light, actually attaining speeds to reach the outer edge of our universe in a matter of months. Also, if you haven't read SCP - 184, I suggest you do it. It is one of the most mind-bending SCPs of them all potentially giving context to all anomalies in that universe. It also gives rise to the implication that the SCP universe exists in OUR reality, just inside some small building or something.
SCP is headcanon. Whether the foundation stops the threat is dependent on you, and you alone.

10:15 I've actually had an experience like that. My cousin, sister, and I went to the Calgary stampede (its one of Canada's largest festivals and among the world's largest rodeos with roughly 1.5 million annual attendees). We were there closing night at the midway and found a ride we all really enjoyed: the fireball. The ride had 6 rows of 6 seats that facing echother that swung on a pendulum. It stood at least 40 or 50 feet high and swung nearly vertical, meaning at its apex the riders were 'round 80-100 feet up.
Well we had fast passes so we rode it back to back until the park closed. A week later I saw the exact same ride on the news. One of the mounts holding on a row of seats had snapped sending the seats and their 6 occupants frying into a crowd. Happened in Ohio if memory serves. My heart goes out to the victims. I may only be a young man but I'dve rather it happened to me in a nearly empty park

Some of the worst parts about articles like this are the things they redact. There's no reason not to leave dates in, or to describe how the entity reacted to the explosives hurled at it. I feel as if too many SCP authors cop out of figuring out how their entity actually works with this.

No, it’s obviously a drone because when it got shot it just didn’t react at all other than destroying aggressor.
Seemed like it had to continue receiving orders to take actions, which is a terrible idea when sending a drone to a planet on a different solar system, as it would take months to years for information/commands to go to and from home planet to where ever the drone is.

It is a device that can without a doubt destroy the entire planet. Surveillance is barely containing messages from reaching it. The density of Jupiter would likely kill any living thing that attempted to board said ship, let alone even attempt to enter the red spot. Also the ship can and will defend itself.
