Wow that drop test...wasn't prepared for that, I spit out my water! I'm so glad this dude does these tests so I don't have to. I baby all my optics, even though they are trijicons, eotechs, vortex, holosuns, etc.
I've used the MRO HD on patrol for few months now and like it a lot. Only real complaint I have is when using the 65 MOA reticle the outer circle tends to wash out in very bright sun light even on the brightest setting. I'm in Texas in the middle of summer so we get VERY bright days occasionally. When I'm working midnight shift I have no complaints at all.
I have the Gen 1 MRO and love it. Never had the issues that other people have complained about. But, I also never torture tested it like other people have either. I’ve been waiting for Trijicon to come out with a 3x magnifier. Thx for the awesome review as always.

I have the MRO non-HD but it’s like serial #189,000. I love it & haven’t had the issues of parallax shift or the dot not being crisp. I’ve shot it in weird positions with no issue & out to 200 yards. It seems they listened & fixed the issues of the previous earlier MROs. I’d buy it again 100%. I had the same complaint about the 3x magnifier being bulky too compared to my other magnifiers on my AimPoint Micro T-2 & Eotech EXPS3-2. Other than that, no problems. I’d go to war with this set up & have no qualms. I’m looking to buy the HD model though because of the donut of death & red dot options.
would love to see you do a side by side comparrison with the Eotech with a magnafier. Explain the differences between holographic sights vs red dot sights. The way you communicate your knowledge so that the technically challenged like my self can understand is awesome!
I'd like to see the Trijicon with 3x VS Eotech with 3x from him for the same reason, I'm trying to decide between the two and I'm worried about eye relief.
Red dots use an led and holographic use lasers. The reticle design (dot and circle vs just dot) used to be the main difference but now that some red dots are also doing the circle dot reticle there isnt as much of a difference....The eotech’s are good for giving a wide field of view and tend to work better with night vision, they can also be better for certain people’s astigmatisms.. red dots will give you a much better battery life compared to eotechs.
I have two of them. Love them, just wish the adjustments had more positive clicks. By the way, your channel rocks! Best testing, best input, most trusted by me.

I saw a UA-cam review complaining about the reflection but you have to really try to experience that. The two reticle choices are great, functionality is very good, lightweight, tough, and made in the USA. The MRO HD is definitely a winner for my use.
I ran into the same problem with my trijicon 3x magnifier so I just implemented a relief cut at the rear of the mount and applied aluminum gun blue to that area. Problem solved! 💪🇺🇸🇺🇸👊
Glad they addressed the parallax, weird magnification and blueish purple glass tint issues. If the MRO HD came in around $450, and the magnifier at $300, they’d be crushing in terms of sales.
i run a livefree armory 8,5 inch 300 blk with the dead arms cycle system and the 2,5 inch tailhook brace it all so has a holosun solar powered millitary reddot and a 7*magnifier that is crystal clear and a green laser plus a 800 lumes light plus a trigger tex 3 pound trigger and i love it
I recently got the MRO just not the overpriced dual reticle one and plan on getting their magnifier and getting the Unity FAST mount for both. Recently got my first NV setup and the taller the mount the easier to shoot under NV and anytime really. I like having my head more upright than leaning over.
I currently have an MRO on my go-to rifle, and I like it. Based on this review, my preference for Trijicon, and all the other info I've found, I'm definitely going with the MRO HD and 3x for when I put together the next iteration of that rifle.
As always, objective, excellent and very informative reviews coming from Aaron. But in as much as I advocate for supporting anything US Made, I would equally urge US manufacturing companies not be so greedy as to drive away people who would sincerely support anything Made in USA. I do believed it can be done.
@@TommyTombstone there's more than one acog. Different fields of view and different eye relief. It's all compromises. Fixed prismatics are fairly outdated at this point however. To the OPs point, it seems like more of a rebranding of trijicon's products than upgrades across the board.
Apart from the mounts, I wonder how this magnifier compares to the EOTech G43. I like how the Trijicon is advertised as lighter and the adjustments are flush with the body.
I had the original vortex 3x, sold it and bought the micro when I found out about it. paired it behind an eotech. magpul pro buis front and rear with blitzkrieg components orange spike front sight replacement. pretty much does everything, and the micro vortex 3x is pretty clear
Idk about proprietary on that mag mount - the lever, swingarm and tensioning all seem to scream the same mount that's on Eotech's G33 and similar. If it uses the same holes, I will say I personally like the Samson mounts - USA made, spring actuated flip to side and mounts right up against the back of the optic. Just my .02, killer vid as always
Got one of the magnifiers and I’m running it with the mro green dot which looks fine for me.. I agree the mount for the magnifier isn’t great, 1 doesn’t fit w the mbus pros and 2 - the quick detach won’t work if you mount it right behind to the optic with the rubber cover/lens caps on it (haven’t taken it off to try again sans cover).
If you still have the HD, can you pretty please do a parallax test on it? (Similar to the one you did 3-4 years ago comparing the Comp M5 and the original MRO.) No one on youtube seems to have done that compared to the original parallax video that you did. Would be great to know if the HD update has fixed this.
Or if my target has a Thermal Scope and I only have Night Vision. Unfortunately, in that scenario I’m dead. Expensive Night Vision setups have become almost obsolete, except in CQB, with the advent of good Thermal Scopes.
I have this setup and a Eotech + vortex micro 3x magnifier setup. MRO has sharper image , better battery life, better quickness to get the optic onto prime setting, and a secondary reticle. Eotech has a wider FOV and potentially looks better depending on who your talking to. idk which one is more durable. I believe the Trijicon 3x is slightly the best magnifier , over the vortex micro, little better eye relief and clarity, where the vortex weights less, is slightly smaller and less expensive. I have never tried the adm one.

Did they fix the off axis poi shift on the HD!!! I was disappointed when I saw the difference between the MRO parallax compared to the Eotech and Aimpoint t2
why not run rear backup iron sight in front of the optic, and move the optic and magnifier back on the gun. Wouldn't that allow you to keep you cheek weld in closer to the same place between magnified and unmagnified?
I have the original MRO. It sits in the safe and I throw it on new guns thinking I'll like it. I never do. I always take it off and order something better. The slight zoom is very annoying especially at close range. Its very usable but I hate it.
Put the optic more forward on the rail You still have a decent amount of Picatinny space on your upper receiver before it meets the handguard. It may look cool centered on the receiver but if It causes an issue with your back up irons just put it more forward….. also check out unity risers you do not flip to the side it heightens you do a 2.2 overbore and it’s a push down pull up on the magnifier And it doesn’t Mess up your field of view if you’re shooting say left-handed. It gives you less stress on your neck also and you get more of a chin weld but I use eotech a heads up display but same height so no dif there ….
That reflection they are talking about is just what's called a cosmetic blemish. Just like chicken wire from the micro channel plate under nvgs. They might wanna look up material defects. (I.e , shading, edge glow, flickering, and emission points.) As always great review bro.
If you’re a left hander, the magnifier will cause compromises. The base the magnifier mounts to has 4 presets so you can change the position of the magnifier. Great for right handers, sucks for lefties. To reverse the magnifier, the only way to mount is all the back to the charging handle- no rear backup sight for you!. The EOTECH flip mount is far superior for left handers, causes no issues, and their magnifier doesn’t interfere with the rear backup sight. Even mounted as it came from the factory, the Trijicon ran into my Troy back up sight and it’s only 3/8” height. Extremely disappointed in this magnifier, just printed return forms
Anyone know if the battery compartment in the MRO HD is any different from the old MRO? I briefly had a MRO in 2017 and had issues with the battery contact tabs breaking off when changing the battery.
I have this optic and can see the circuit board indoors depending on lighting. Its slightly distracting if just the simple red dot is on, but a non issue with the complex reticle on.

Good video, I personally like the sig Juliet 3 or 4 magnifier. I have it paired with a holosun 510c and it works great. Tempted to get a MRO HD.

Seeing the Combo for about 750 after taxes now days. Not terrible considering a aimpoint T-2 is that or more alone without a mount or magnifier.

Mount isn’t great tho, I tried it so I could run offset irons to the right and immediately switched it back.
after using lpvos for a few years im back to dots and magnifiers and I cant believe I ever left them.

I used to have the exact setup, until I realized that I have a stigma. The dot was a smear. So now Eotech is the way to go

Trijicon has had the diode reflection issue ever since the SRS...
Military Arms Channel said he could see the image of the circuit board when the optic was off… In your experience could you see the same reflection?
I have this optic and can see the circuit board indoors depending on lighting. Its slightly distracting if just the simple red dot is on, but a non issue with the complex reticle on.
