The addition of the graphics is awesome. Great job man, the most educational channel in the gun community. I know when I was a noob, I had no idea what any of the firearms community language meant, so those graphics are very valuable for the noobs.
Thanks Aaron. Great review and visits topics that most casual shooters don't understand and sometimes don't even know to inquire about. Love that you visited the parallax topic.
I was thinking this was just gonna be another video discussing pros/cons and opinions on both for CQB. I love that there are real applicable tests going on. You killed it again dude.
A fun experiment is to close your front scope cap of your LVPO and have the reticle illuminated and shoot the rifle using bindon aiming. It really shows how much scope shadow mattets within 25 yards.
Superb. Really appreciate the picture w/in picture showing the reticle and shadow/offset/parallax. Seemed to me your accuracy, at least in the tests shot for this video, favored the crosshairs of the LPVO. I'd also guess you have much more time on the LPVO than most of us average folks who are choosing, or have chosen, between RDS & LPVO. Thanks Aaron, really appreciate the learned, experienced & critical thoughts you give us here.
As a new shooter and getting to know my weapons systems, I really enjoyed this comparison video. I chose a LPVO for my DD AR and it was cool/informative/educational to see the potential with it. Especially through practice.
Great video thanks! I think those results are amazing! I've been guilty of taking to long sometimes making sure my sight picture is perfect even at closer ranges and it hurts my speed sometimes. Its cool to know I can speed it up a bit if I accidentally snap up with a bit of shadow at close range I can send it n not waste precious time in a even where milliseconds could mean living or back to the mud! Love your content! Thanks for the great video!
Me: “I’m just so much slower with a LPVO at 1x at close distances, therefore I prefer the dot for up close.” Also me: *has almost 10k rounds through one build with one red dot, has only tried the LPVO for 100-200 rounds max* Wild how the “whatever you train with, you get good with” principle comes true.
the stop mugging yourself off and use an LPVO with the same amount of rounds with the red dot then compare them! i find LPVO better then a red dot because i dont just do only CQB , but also medium and long range . the LPVO such as night force does is not slower then a red dot
Thank you so much for all your videos, and all the knowledge transmitted. It's really very enjoyable, especially here in France where the possibilities are much less !
Always appreciate your detail and perspective. For what it’s worth 😆(probably not much): When I put an AR together last year. My first since 1976; my end product, excluding brand name, was the exact same configuration. This was based on: Vietnam era Marine infantry experience and Hunting experience. But mostly “OG” physical issues. ie; bad eyes, bad joints, can’t move for shit anymore. So ultimately working with a home defense/coyote gun in a 1-10 ffp, LVPO and a 45 degree offset RDS gave me the same results. Even shooting off hand. For comparison btw I use a 36yd zero on the LVPO and a 25yd zero on RDS. That gives me a 4x6/2x4 hit using a 12 o’clock hold on anything indoors with either optic. Used your videos switching from irons to a RDS pretty much exclusively. Thanks for the helping the “OG’s”!!!!
Training to change hearts and minds myself. Great content as always, thank you for knowledge. Your channel is very under rated and will get the view counts soon. More drills like the Eleanor please
As a casual viewer, I congratulate you for giving one of the best and most informative videos ever on basics of CQB optics of any channel on this topic. Your demonstration also points out why "older eyes" switch to red dots over iron sights. Target focus vs sight post focus.
Former 0311 here. My tango 6t on a 1.54 feels almost exactly like my acog did when I was in. The only difference is they taught us there was no such thing as too little eye relief with the acog.
Really appreciated this. Also like to see Solgw getting some love. I just purchased a14.5 and I like it as much or more than my DD4. Great shooting rifles.
Well at least I know I wasn’t completely off the path when going through my decision of which optic to throw on my 11.5 & I’m beyond happy with the 36 yard zero and the simplicity of the reticle and point of aim/point of impact from point blank out to 300. Very very satisfied with my Eotech 512
That bit where you said "that guy knows his shit" really got me. Ive never hear anyone but you talk about IR laser reflection off of a FSB or other piece of kit, because they don't actually know and just mount their stuff anywhere it looks cool. You mount it as far forward for that reason. You know. And thank you for sharing with us
Great vid. Application is key with anything. I have setups for home defense and mid to long range. Offset all day. It’s all about knowing what WORKS for you. I have spoken.
Really enjoy your videos. Your reduced target reminds me of German accuracy target used for their Kar98s for their snipers. It was a playing card which was approximately a 2x4 size for one hundred meters. Just thought that was something cool to see.

It's the question that I always get into an argument with local instructors in my country too cuz I don't believe in hitting a nickel every single time at whatever range. Thank you for this. The 4x6 is good. I'll adjust my training to it.
Great video and it might not be a big deal but I would have liked to see a second focal plane as well like the vudu 1-8 to see if FFP and SFP have any major difference in the test
I've run both on my 11.5 and off a timer I'm almost identical. It helps that I've done a lot of dry fire with the lpvo but it feels better to use it under white light than red dot for me. Decision really came down to with where I live, which is very rural, so if something happened the gun will fill the jobs I need it to close or out to a little range. For reference I run the steiner P4Xi and the dot is perfect in the daylight
I've got the same setups and I can't agree more. The Steiner has an excellent red dot, and I prefer it at night (white light doesn't blow out the illumination since it's an etched reticle).
I think it's fair to say that red dots/ holographics are faster and easier for beginners and people who don't do a lot of practice and dryfire. You should, and that will certainly help level the playing field with LPVOs, but especially from awkward positions you can get awkward aim with a scope.
