Люди шокированы не только тем, что это Иму уничтожили остров с лица земли, но это связано с тем чтобы никто вообще этого не ожидал от One piece.
Этот мир очень темный сам по себе.
И похожую ситуацию я могу сравнить с Убийца Акаме, где тупо так же правители засиделась на троне, но в One piece она гораздо хуже, несмотря на яркий оттенок аниме.

Notice the difference in introduction between Blackbeard and Imu. They are both “main” villains, but Blackbeard is more a personal villain towards Luffy. The fact that Aokiji joined him shows you that Blackbeard isn’t necessarily a monster, just a man with different goals and ideals.
Imu however, is straight evil. He’s a monster to the world and needs to be taken out, I wouldn’t be surprised if Luffy and Blackbeard formed a temporary alliance towards this goal. After all Blackbeard holds the “D” moniker as well, it can’t be for no reason.

One thing that BOTHERS me. Is that SOOOOO many people misunderstood this scene. Imu and the elders didn't destroy lulusia because of sabo. They were already planning on destroying lulusia anyway. you know I heard a theory. you know how some people just have superior versions of various fruits? like snow < ice, fire < lava, etc. Imu may have the direct upgrade from Borsalino's fruit allowing him to control all versions of light. which also may explain the void century... Remember Foxy? he went into a some weird detail about his fruit they usually dont do unless its important... he said his powers worked by a previously unknown particle of LIGHT. thats right he may have used his power on the entire world for a century.

I'm not sure if that's theory's very valid. Like how Saint Jaygarcia Saturn of the Five Elders also seems to have a Mythical Zoan.

Anime did this scene justice!👏👏👏 The animation combined with the music really emphasizes the horror and powerlessness in the face of WG:s secret weapon. It kinda reminds me of Exterminatus from Warhammer 40k-universe, or the Covenant's glassing beams from Halo.🤔
Also, it is clear that Lulusia isn't the first kingdom to be erased from both existence and histories. Imu & WG have committed several similar genocides throughout their 800 years of existence.
When the truth of Lulusia's destruction and/or the true nature of WG's history eventually comes forth, it is likely that those Marines with a sense of honor and true concern for the common people (such as Garp, Smoker, Tashigi and Sengoku) may form a splinter faction that opposes Imu's rule.🤔

Like, showing the Kingdom before its destruction during its heyday. Then, as some bystanders ventured forward through an oncoming storm, they see through the clearing of the storm's mist a hole left behind in the wake of the Kingdom's destruction. And then the roll credits roll without the drama music, just the ambience of the storm and the seas being heard as echos. It would truly be an eerie and dreadful experience.
