Nice review. I have been shooting the Oak Ridge Viridian, which is a 62" Samick Sage with a different badge. It has D97 Flemish twist string on it. My arrows are GT Traditionals. I've had it for four years. It has never failed me. Samick Sages are affordable but excellent quality bows.
How well is the riser finished? It looks good on camera. I have to say that I ordered one recently and the finish was unbelievably horrendous, so I ordered another and the replacement was just as bad if not worse! I did however get the tigershark recurve bow back several years ago and the finish was gorgeous 🤷🏼♂️
One of the nice things about QUALITY bows at affordable prices...... Competition. We will see more and more of them hitting the market. It's happening in the compound and xbow markets too. GREAT review!
I've been shooting trad archery for 10 years now. I have 2 Spyders, 3 Tigersharks from Southwest Archery. Love these bows. Affordable and fun to shoot and very accurate. My two Spyders 40# and 45# are the perfect bows at this price range, a fantastic grip, no stacking, a very smooth release and very light. Like you, I shoot with an elevated rest which is easy to install on the Spyder.
In my opinion, a company could make a killing if they made a quality 23" wood ilf riser for 3d shooters. White feather lark is nice but not much else out there. Being a taller archer with a 30+ draw length it is hard to find a quality longer bow.
@@worldtraveler8372 Don't know the max. My draw length is 29.5" and there is zero stacking. Just a guess, but you might be ok with even a 30-31" draw. It's worth a try since it is a 64" bow for less than $200.00. I have other bows but I shoot the Spyder xl 35# more than any of the others. Good luck!
"Samick Sage Killer"? I started with a Sage some years ago. I've got more expensive recurve bows and a hybrid longbow. I occasionally dust my Sage off and shoot a few rounds of 3D. It's solid build quality, and its performance is amazing at the price point. Good video. Greetings from the UK.
Wonder why they don't just go ahead and put the better strings with these bows and charge $15 more? There'd be better feedback and less complaints I'm sure from the start. I was looking at the Black Hunter and in the comments someone said they had all three of this bow, the Sage and the Black Hunter and recommended this bow. So I checked your video out and thank you for the review and you're opinions.
Great!! Contact TTT strings on facebook. Tell Trevor you have this bow and what arrows you shoot. Opt for the silencers and you will love shooting this bow.
I highly recommend the Southwest Spyder at 29 lbs. if he is a big kid maybe 35lbs the good thing is as he gets stronger this bow can be upgraded inexpensively . Here is a great place to get it : archerypast.com/collections/bows-1/products/spyder-62-takedown-recurve-bow?variant=17130310434906
my form with all the one off bows I review is terrible, I get a short time to actually work with them and it makes it hard to get the feel. What makes me like this one is that I felt pretty comfortable shooting it and my form and accuracy was improving in a very short time. I think thats what makes this a nice bow for almost anyone.
Those are great for the person getting into Traditional archery. Affordable and reliable.

Thank you! Archery 🏹 Geek! I just ordered a 40 lbs. SWA Spider XL, Left Handed. I will use your video to help me put it together and tweek it.

Love that more companies are making these affordable good quality bows.

Great bow for sure 👍
Amazing video, thank you for all the effort put into this, it really shows!

I totally agree.
I have the same bow, what string would you recommend? Do you know of any reputable folks who sell or make the strings?
I like your video thanks for making this.
I agree. I never unstring my recurve.
I started with the Spyder and now shoot the Tigershark. The price and quality of the bow is hard to beat.
6’3” so a longer draw is better for me. Love this bow. Accurate. Quiet. I shoot it every day. I’d buy another tomorrow if I lost this one.
Couldn’t agree more.
Whats the max draw length?

They are a fun shoot especially at low poundage
Yeah, mine draws at 40#.

I have to disagree, it is not how you feel, but how you look and according to Billy Crystal's Fernando: "You, you loook Maarvelous!"
Haha! If only I could shoot as good as you !!!!
:It's more important to look good than to feel good!" Fernando SNL
So what string did you end up putting on the bow? Im heavily considering picking up one of these and I would like to put a great string on it.
TTT Strings. Trevor is awesome. Look them up on Facebook
I mounted a quiver on mine. It fell out, fittings and all. Havent decided how to address this yet.
If it’s the bushings, just epoxy them back in and good to go 😊
@@ArcheryGeek Thanks. Looking forward to your next vid on this bow. You earned a sub too.
@@DiggisGay awesome !! Thank you. I’m going to put a few accessories and show what it can do
Just curious here, what was the nock height on your once you were shooting off the shelf? I’ve been having trouble finding the perfect spot on mine
It was pretty high. Maybe a half to 3/4 if I remember correctly.
@@ArcheryGeek thanks, I will give that a try. I keep getting nock high but only went to about 5/8ths
Any thoughts or difference between the Spyder or the Tigershark bows?
I prefer the spyder XL it’s longer and smoother. You won’t be disappointed
@@ArcheryGeek Great. Thanks
Limbs interchange with the sage?
Yes
So I just bought one. What string do you suggest?

Hit me up if you have any questions on IG or FB .. or here is fine too!
What bow do you recommend for a 13 year old boy looking to start shooting a recurve?
