This is the only place I could find that explained which direction to put the seals in. Thanks!

Hi. Just found this video. Very helpful. 5/16 threaded bar for auto advance unit removal, but what thread pitch please.

Great help, been puzzled by the oil warning light coming on at tickover when hot, the seal was hard and way out of Spec. Just need to watch part two and put it back together.

      Hi Peter :-)
I am just on with a rebuild, after having the same problem, oil light flashing at tick over when really hot.
I have decided it is wear on my very high mileage crank, after three sets of shells over the years it's high time she got a re-grind, which is what I'm on with now.
Things to check are Oil seals, Oil pressure switch, Oil pressure relief valve then big-ends.

+lunmad Hi, back together and gave it a hard ride, now no warning light on tick over and running cooler, tried your tip to protect oil seal for ignition but sadly still knicked the oil seal. the proper tool was only a fiver so got one on order. Fortunately hadn't replaced that oil seal so have a spare.

Hi Peter :-) glad your repair was a success, another thing to keep an eye out for is the crank-shaft oil seal can wear a groove on the nose of the crank repositioning the seal so it runs in a different place can work but if the damage is too great the nose can be machined and a sleeve can be made.
The seal behind the points will not alter oil pressure but will make a mess and can cause ignition problems.
One day I will invest in one of those proper tools, we'll see up to now I've always got away without one.
