    Here’s a free tip. If you look at SRV’s guitar the bare wood spots are much darker. Take a pencil and shade in those spots like you would a sketch. Then take your finger and smudge it. It simulates the worn-out grimey wood look very well.

    I bought a factory reliced guitar and loving it. I have been using it and also displayed in our living room. I have the cort sunset tc worn butter. 😊

    Relics go too far where the guitar is destroyed! It should appear to be a natural progression of wear not making it look water logged and mistreated! 😂

    That's how I do it! Start from bare wood! I mask all the wear spots. You're strat looks great!!

    The 64,000 dollar question: What do you use to make the stencil? I've seen the templates, but what do you trace them to (and how), and how does this medium stick to the guitar and peel off? Thanks!

    Don’t pretend you reliced the entire body yourself too much haha. I bought a guitar body from Allen Eden that looks exactly like this. I’d paste the link but I don’t want UA-cam to auto remove the comment :)

      @@bewusstsein3527 Nothing wrong with using sand paper, lots of people do it that way. It should be fine grit though.
      Relic'ing takes a lot of time patience and re-evaluation your work regularly. Have a plan in mind, don't just fuck up the instrument....

    I have a 80's tele that is pretty beat up. I thought about doing this but the more i think the more dishonest it seems..kind of like buying patches to put on your new leather jacket for your new "harley" style Honda...

      @@massive_walnut4602 Well vintage guitars only sound good because of the natural petrification process of the woods that its made of, the wood become drier, harder, the glue it has crystalizes further and the finish of the guitar as well, which slowly but surely gives the guitar more natural resonance and sustain. Obviously, the better made it was, the better it will sound when it's aged, due to the better materials. But to relic a guitar is only an aesthetic thing, it has no real equivalence to an actual aged guitar.

    It looks exactly like the SRV guitar i bought from Sunfield Music store. Minus the pickguard .. i need to replace the tuners due to the fact that it will not stay in tune. Otherwise a pretty cool guitar. Thanks for sharing bro.

    I got a relic Steinberger G4 and I wish it wasn’t . It suffered a flood few years back so I’m struggling with if I want it relect or total restoration . I hate fk relic I think it stupid. I use to love old strats but now days ya can’t tell.

      The problem really is that the finishes they put on guitars now are much tougher than guitars in the 60s. If you buy an American Standard Strat it will never truly age like those old ones.

      @@UmAdxXbRo oh and one thing i forgot to ask. i have Strat but not Fender or Squier. my guitar brand is Darling . will it be nice tone too? it's a budget guitar in Malaysia and the price is RM 500 ( 120 US dollars ) . did i need to change guitar setup ? and if i need to change can you suggest me which one is nice

    super easy ..and stuff like that...thats all you do.
    no instruction at all.
    how do you age the wood?
    what kind of paint do you use how do you get multiple layers of colors
    how do you dull the paint as he says.
    this kid made a video and skipped about 5,000 steps and all he kept saying is how easy it is.
    then why not show each and every one of the steps? let me guess that would take a lot of time
    and let me guess something else it wouldn't be easy to make an actual video of how to relic a guitar

    There is no "Cheap way" to relic a guitar other than time. It is very obyius even when a company like Sure does it that it is not "Real"-I would never pay for relicing on a 3,000 instrument. They want an additional 1,500-I have worked with many national & international bands. I have NEVER senn anyone of them with a "Custom Relic". This is over a period of 40+ years. Naturally this was not even heard of in the 70s-80s. I even recall when there were no RF anything.

    You should leave the guitar at a smokers house to make it sound better..get all the bar smoke into the tone wood......honestly I think relic is super phony wanting it look like its been on tour.     Buy a guitar, join a band and keep gigging for 30 years - voila! Taking a shortcut is completely missing the point, is a terrible thing to do to a guitar and is a completely naff display of inauthenticity and daftness. What next? Pre-crashed cars? Pre-smoked lungs? Utter madness.

      You understand that modern guitars are made with poly finishes that will NEVER wear like the old ones. You could play them for 50 years and the only way the age is thick plastic finish crumbling off. It looks terrible.

Authenticity - like a real Harley versus a Japanese copy, a head of real hair versus a toupe, a genuine poker winner versus a cheat...
