- In this Archeage 101 (2019 Edition) I will be giving an overview of Healers.
Big question people have is if they should go Plate, Cloth or Leather. Also, what other bits and pieces should they be using. All of this is covered inside.
This goes along with the builds section I promised in the Classes Video ( • Archeage Classes (2019... ) however I never give full builds and this is intentional. I do enough of a build that a person gets a feel for the class, but I leave enough of it that they need to do some self discovered.

the only skill hate with a passion so far is renewal, the fact that it is a chance base trigger for me is a red flag, then it's a HoT when it triggers is another problem, then it has a cast time too many cons for it to be on my bar

I stopped playing Archeage last fall when Gamigo basically derped the launch of Archeage Unchained. With that said a lot of the videos I've done are still relevant!

Yeah been busy man. Really busy. Building a community slowly and making sure to hit all the good benchmarks on views, comments, likes, etc. Sure, I'd be thrilled to be at 40,000 subs and 50,000 views per video, but as long as my videos are helping people, that's all that matters to me.

I’ve always wanted to play a healer but that’s all I ever played on WOW. I mained a priest.. but ever since I’ve played archeage all I ever played was paladin and argent but I’m actually going for Cleric so I’m hyped for it

I've watched a very large quantity of your videos and I am really impressed with the work you've done covering the content in the game.
I have a few questions regarding a few things in this video.
1. What is a pocket healer? Like a class that doesn't stack spirit and has no healing power and instead fights using Sorcery/Battlerage/Archery ? If yes, then how does a pocket dps look like? Isn't the Vitalism tree a pocket dps itself from the get go?
2. I am a cloth healer. Currently switching between Doombringer for AoE to Soothsayer for single target healing. Physical shield and club. Hiram. What gems should I aim for? I am having a lot of trouble figuring things out in regards to what tempering, lunafrosts, lunagems and stuff like that are. Could you please give me some direction?
A pocket healer is someone who's sole job is to heal a single player.

I have not looked into the black dragon stuff yet, but as soon as I have it all together, it will end up as a video.

A pocket healer is a dedicated healer for a specific Individual. So you always heal one person and make sure they dont die.

Hey, Awesome video. I’m playing Unchained, which spec do I take as a healer, I’m going to be doing a lot of PVP, I like being support, Apart from healing,I’d like to have the ability to CC and annoy the enemy (not really damage but annoy). Thank you in advance for the response :)

I'm a newbie. If I want to level a healer, I must begin with vitalism, or for levelling faster I could choose sorcery?
You could level Sorcery, but I recommend say Battlerage + Vitalism with something.
Make the switch to healer at 55.
Although this is all up for grabs until I can test it.

when you unlock all 3 skill trees it wont matter but shadow play make it easy early on

How well do you think fatespinner (vita, song, maledict) will run as a healer? Love the idea of the combined crit, and still staying on heals, but it's a class that has 0 guide, so wonder how viable it will really be
I would not run this combo at all.
I'm playing a doombringer right now, but I am thinking of switching to Assassin for the extra CC. In your experience healing for small skirmishes 3-5 people each side is the CC that witchcraft brings worth losing the aoe healing synergy from Occ? Thanks for the response.
It depends really on what the other 2-4 people are, but yes you can usually CC as a healer if you are good and the group you are with has worked together for a long time.
Hello, I’m new to the game and I’m playing doombringer aswell, some people told me about goin resilience and Max health instead of resistance on the armor , is that right?
Its not "right" and its not "wrong" its just a different way to do it.
Its not the way I would do it, but ask those people why they are commending that.
This is fairly general question. Im new to the game, and I don't like cookie cutter skill trees, and im glad this game doesn't seem to promote that, however honestly, when it comes to gear, ive got no idea. I don't know where to look. I don't know how to do it. Should I craft? is there a dungeon I do? Im honestly completely clueless. Im only lvl 34 and went to do a dungeon and found my healing power severely lacking, which was a learning experience. So in short, any tips for healers gear before 55? or should I just stop trying to do anything and power level first?
Secondly, any tips for healers having enough dps pre level cap? vit/occult/sorc is what ive been running to get be through solo play. sorc definitely helped me out a lot. after watching this, im definitely bringing shadowplay in instead of sorc though. didn't know about the anti spam, so is there anything I can do to speed things up?
First and foremost about healers, there is a -30% Self Heal Nerf Coming at the end of the month. Want you to know about that.

Thanks for the info great video! I am new to Archeage starting for the first time with the new fresh start server launch. Do you have any guides or advise for leveling as a Healer/Doombringer
Due to how Gamigo has treated their customers I no longer play Archeage. I kept all the old content up as a resource, but I'd feel dirty if I made content supporting that game.
I can tell you you should be able to Holy Bolt level as a Doombringer without issue.

Hey I'm new to the game and I have found myself drawn to playing a cleric. I'm still learning as I go but I'm not sure I understand the combo system from different skill trees. Do all skill trees have a combo for other skill trees or are they pretty specific?
For the new vitalism, yes Vitalism has combos in many other Trees. Big ones are Shadowplay and Occultism.
Hello, i saw some high gs running leather on unchained as healer what are your thought about it ? i'm currently using cloth and i keep getting detroyed by archer and DR, very frustating :/ i wonder if i should run leather aswell with physical shield and magic resist lunagem.
If you know what you are doing you can run leather, but it takes a specific sort of build.
Just found your video, If i wanna go melee healer with plate should i take doombringer or argent?
Doombringer wont' be melee healer. Doombringer is an AOE healer. There is some melee abilities to be had in Shadowplay but nowhere near the potency of Battlerage.
You'll want to go Paladin or Argent.

Hey paradox,what do you think of deathwarden? im still undecided on what my 3rd skillset is gonna be and i like the idea of a tanky healer. i heard templar is not strong as it used to be.Any alternative?
Templar is not as strong as it used to be as a healer because of the removal of synergy between Auramancy and Vitalism, but it is still the tankiest of the healers, so if you want to be a tanky healer that is the one to go with.
Deathwarden will give you a lot of sustainability Justicar (Swap Shadow for Occultims) will trade off some of that sustainabilty to provide you with AOE Mend spam ability.

So MS shield is better than t4 hiram? 😮 What do you think? Would like to hear your opinion.
The Mistsong shield is a good option to have to hot swap in in order to use the AOE heal ability.
I wouldn't rank it as "better" or "worse" than a T4 Hiram (when we get T4)
I run a MS Shield in one set and then a T3 Epic Dagger in the other. Once I get the Dagger Gemmed I'll be at 269.9 Critical Heal Bonus. When all the weapons go to T4 I should be right around 290%
The T4 shield doesn't really specifically help with that, but it is a good shield.
What would be the best way to reduce cast time? In terms of how would you recommend reducing cast time most efficiently? I know Galeglows give reduced cast time on undies and flutes, but is there any other way to make a decent impact in terms of reducing it?
Flute and Combat Panties gems.
Also taking it as a stat wherever you can (Cloak, Combat Panties, Costume)
Remember 60% is the hard cap, so no need to reduce it below that.

New player here. Is there a reason that the two SS rank healers in the latest tier list video by Belamy, those being the Edgewalker and Heirophant, are not in your guide as viable healers? Sorry if it's a stupid question. Also, if you want to level as a healer in Unchained, do you just keep the same trees as the one you want to play? Thanks
Couple of reasons for that. First, Belamy and I have different views and different opinions. Second, heavy CC healer classes are not what I would consider 101 level. 101 is basic entry stuff. When you start getting more comfortable with playing you move on to more complex classes.
He mainly thought about PVP when making that list, PvE and leveling have different priorities.
CC is strong as hell in PvP, but buffs and debuffs are king if your teammates are having your back. For me SS tier is something like a Confessor, buffs and debuffs, healing, and stealth/backdrop for obvious reasons.
Hows necromancer? Can you weapon swap and still heal your self and do decent damage?
Weapon swaps make it rough, but yes you can.
Would Vitalism/Defense/Occultism be a good healer. Seems to me like it would offer decent interaction and CC, along with high sustain. What are your thoughts and do you have any tips. I am brand new to Archeage.
Depends if you are running plate or cloth.

If I want to play as a healer, do I level 1-55 as Vitalism, or is that the slowest possible way to level?
Holy bolt is your main dps. Plate armor plus great club. You can also level with vitamins as a carry and do like battlerage vita and a tree then swap out battlerage at 55. The new tree catches up to 55 as you level to ancestral 34

Hey man, I know I'm late to the party, but how do you currently see Clerics at the moment? I've not seen a lot of chatter about them but they seem like my kinda class. Lot of focus on both tanking and healing with a fair bit of damage behind it. What are your thoughts?
Cleric isn't going to be a lot to the table for tanking. Little bit since it has Auramancy, but Cleric got gutted when they changed songcraft. Cleric is now a heal/song build, but it won't outheal or outtank other Vita + Shadow/Occult classes.
What do you feel is the best healer at the moment? In terms of survivability/good heals. Would you say Cleric?

Plate Healers running Vitalism + Aurmanacy are damn hard to kill. The 3rd tree gets added for play style and don't loose too much in terms of healing potency.
But...there is a plate nerf coming sometime soon so that needs to be considered. I have no idea what the nerf is, just that they are fixing it.

I went plate healer with mdef hiram shield, i am wondering if i can still afford to go with the Stealthfang Shield as a main shield or is it only viable as a weapon swap heal.
You'd have to look at your magic defense, but you are probably going to want to do it as a weapon hotswap.

I still do Archeage Content Creation because I really have nowhere else to plant my butt at the moment.
I'm probably going to make the transition to Aestilla when it comes out this summer for something to do. I'll still make the occasional Archeage content, stay up with the news, but Archeage is sort of in this limbo.
I'm still making the videos mainly because I'm hoping for an Archeage Freshstart server. One more go around before I move on.
Doombringer or Confessor? Which one would you advice as new player?
I don't give advice like that because somehow if you are unhappy with your choice it becomes my fault.
I will say I played doombringer and I have healer friends who played and still play confessor.

Once you are ancestral 10, keep prayer stacked up so that its the Divine Response buff and then just Ancestral Holy Bolt spam everything until it dies.

I will add this to the list of things I will try to explain. I'm sure I already explained it somewhere but I can't really recommend the video it is so horrible and dated.
I didn't see anything about a Confessor build here. :( But the gearing part of the video helped alot. I played way back but not with the update of Anscestral
I generally don't get into the build level of detail. I will offer feedback on builds, but I don't provide cookie cutter builds.
You mention that stamina is now important. A lot of people are telling me to reroll my gear to get as much spirit as possible when a lot of this gear has a ton of stamina on it already. Should I do SOME stamina and some Spirit? What exactly does spirit do: increase healing? Thanks! I am completely new to the game.
If you go into game, hit C and then cursor over the attributes it will tell you what each one does.
Spirit increases your Healing Power and Heal Rate.
Stamina increases your Health and defenses.

I consider playing as a Healer at incoming AA: Unchained. I was thinking about Confessor and after your video I'm concerned. I played previously as Defiler and I love Occultism tree - but as a healer, I fought it cannot combine well.
1) Can you tell me the difference between Confessor and Doombringer?
2) Do you have any tips for someone who wants to play as Confessor?
So my personal opinion is that there should be dedicated bards in raids now, instead of Healers trying to bard and heal. This is just my personal opinion based on how many "other" things bards can do now.
Confessor is a Song/Vita blend where as doombringer has the most heals per second output due to Occultism (Absorb Lifeforce to allies and Pain Harvest + Mend spam)
Tips for playing as a confessor, nothing above and beyond what I would have talked about for playing any other healer.

- is it possible to level up vitalism since 1 level of better is switch to it on 30 or higher?

Haven't played in years. But was a good Confessor.
Most useful in world pvp. With a dps partner. Stealth until needed... then ....surprise!
But your guild will never understand the build until they come hunting with you. Then they will believe.
But in raid pvp healing, you rarely top the charts.
Confessor was incredibly fun once your learn the class.

vitalism bcs well heals and fancy dmg skills+utility
auramacy .. because of mobility
but i struggle with the 3rd option and not sure whats better for it.. ocultist or songcraft.. or the next class

@@ParadoxGamingNetwork no, its the set from sea of drowned love, has healer stats, cooldown mend, mana reduction, pve reduction. Atm i have the hiram set but im searching a better set for stats
@@serpisorveninos Oh, that set. I mean yeah if you are doing only PvE content and you manage to get that set anyway, it will do.
But its not like a set I'd say you should try and get.

Hm im a new payer creating my first character, and i wanna play healer so i have no clue what i should pick Doombringer, Sorrowsong, Assassin, Necromancer
Good news is, you can switch between them all you want.
Once the first trees are 55, you can swap them out and level the others to 55 while you are leveling your character level to Ancestral 34.

Where do clerics sit as healers in aa:u? It's hard to believe the definition of a healer class in cleric isn't a viable healer.
Its not that it isn't viable, its that Songcraft no longer scales on healing power, and there is no synergy between Vitalism and Auramancy. Vitalism has synergy with Shadowplay (Freerunner, Backdrop) and Occultism (Pain Harvest, Absorb Lifeforce).
@@ParadoxGamingNetwork thank you for the clarification. I'm not sure I'm a fan of those changes but I'll have to see I propose. Does that mean it's more optimal to run cloth now as well?

You'd have to give me the 3 trees, I don't know all of them off the top of my head and fate spinner sounds like one that is way outside the box.

I have to be honest, I'm not sure when or even if I'll get to melee.
It was on my storyboard of stuff to do, however, with the information I'm getting out of Ashes of Creation, where I am an official Content Creator, I am pretty busy.
When my time frees up there, I'll get back to Archeage. Sadly Gamigo and I could not come to terms about a CC partnership so the places that do have a deal with me, get my primary attention.

Is edgewalker a good healer ?
Yes it is fairly decent as it is a combines Occultism with Vitalism which gives you access to a lot of the bits and pieces you want (Mend Spam and Absorb Lifeforce)
...Gem slot. extra gem slot at eternal. It does SOMETHING.

how is the solo ability of healers these days?
Actually really really good. There is a video running around somewhere of me 2 shotting mobs with the new Ancestral Holy Bolt.
I'm not going healer again in Unchained, but that's because I want to do something different.
