I would NEVER again encrypt an SD card. My phone is dead from dropping in pool, so now my photos, videos are lost. Some were automatically saved to the cloud, so I have gotten many back, but many are still grayed out on the cloud, and the error indicates they weren't saved to the cloud due to size. That doesn't even make sense because they are pics that were taken the same time as ones that were saved...no difference in size. I need to decrypt on original phone! I'm searching for how to decrypt my SD card without the phone on which it was encrypted. All I've found is that it is NOT possible. :'( Why would the encryption of an SD card option NOT give a STRONG warning about the possibility of losing everything on it if the phone dies!!!??? How stupid!
I understand how you feel. This encryption method is STUPID! It should have a password like HDD and USB drive encryption has in Windows and allow you to decrypt anywhere on an android device based on the password. Also it should have a persistant warning that you can loose the data on the card if the phone fails, exactly as you say. This is just a poor implementation of encryption. It might be safer, but the risk is way too high. If the photos are really important I would search for a service that does board level repairs and fix the motherboard in your phone or transplant it to a new phone if possible. Hope you will get it solved one way or another :(

Not sure I understand what you mean. On the original phone, if you did not factory reset it, you can decrypt the data.

man my phone broke, its LCD screen is completely devoured, bought a whole new phone expecting all of my data to be transferred to the new phone, but NO! IT DOESN'T! I was mad before that these new phones don't allow micro sd cards, but now i see why people are happy that they are gone. I hate to put a price on memories but now I'm going to pay whatever I have to get all of my data back by fixing my old phone and decrypting it just to put it inside of my new one. This process is so irritating....

There is no encryption password on Android version 10.
My SD card became corrupted and on replacement the phone refused to recognise and format the new card unless I activated "Forget" the old card (thus deleting that SD card's encryption key from the phone).
Is there any way to get my photos and videos back from that corrupted SD card?
I do not know in your case. Android might have made this situation even worse in the newer versions.

Din pacate nu cred ca exista nici o solutie. La resetarea din fabrica se schimba cheia de criptare si nu se mai poate ajunge inapoi la cea veche.

Also going through the same crisis, hence I landed here. Try putting your SD card on another device/ phone, all your files should appear then delete the one's you don't need, this should be done preferably on a tablet, i for one inserted my sd card on my Huawei tablet then deleted some old music on the SD card then went on to encrypt the SD back on my smartphone. IT WORKED. Try it

What do you do if your phone suddenly says your SD card is corrupted and you cannot see the files on the computer, it just asks you to format it. It says the SD card is Raw so can't be read outside the device. And trying to recover with other software doesn't work because it's encrypted. Any advice??

This SD card cannot be decrypted because it was encrypted on another device. SD cards can only be decrypted on the device used to encrypt them. Decrypt the SD card on the device used to encrypt it, then reinsert it in this device, and try again.
I think I explain the situation quite clearly in the video.

Please help. So I'm able to watch all of the sd card content on my phone, but android says it's been set to view only to protect the data. The thing is that I can't format it from my pc or phone. When I do it on the phone, the phone would get restarted and on pc it just say that windows couldn't complete the format.
I never had this issue, so I don't know a fix for it. Are you sure your card is not starting to fail? It sounds like it.
@@UltimateDIY the thing is that I was trying to decrypt the card when suddenly just paused at 19% and reboot. When it got back I got that message saying "sd card decryption error occurred" and it said that is now readonly protected to avoid data lost
Could still be a card begining to fail. Back up all the data on it, if you can, and try to replace it if possible.

I have a 64GB SD card. Which was accidentally encrypted in Samsung's mobile a year ago. Years ago, after watching this video of yours, the data was recovered. But the mistake was that the data was not saved elsewhere and put back in the same SD card. Data was not visible in any other mobile except the Samsung mobile. It happened that I had factory reset the Samsung mobile. Now data is not showing in Samsung too. When the card is inserted in the Samsung, the notification also comes that the card is encrypted on another device. Any solution to this problem? The card has the best memories of my life. 😢😢
No sollution as far as I know. The encryption key changed when the phone was reset.
I know what you are feeling right now. I have mine with me, but it seems the phone encrypted without my knowledge, which sucks cause I lost it all after resetting the phone and not recognizing it. I hope there is a way in the future, I still have hope. Someone might crack it, 😢.

Hi. Sadly, your data might be lost. Normally once you do a factory reset the encryption key changes and you can't get the data back. Only on cheap phones the key does not change and you can recover the data. Your only chance is to setup the phone with the exact settings (password or pin or sign) that you had and see if it will alow you to decrypt.

If your phone is not working, probably not.
On No name phones it might work to do this procedure in a phone identical to yours, but for any of the better known brands this will not work.

No way to get the data back, unless the phone is a really cheap chinese no name. Those have a really poor implementation of the encryption and sometimes an identical phone model set uo with the same account and lockscreen can decrypt it. But if your phone is from a big brand, no chance to get the data back.

This st card cannot be decrypted because it was encrypted on another device sd card can only be decrypted on the device used to encrypted them decrypt the st card on the device use to encrypted it. Thdn reinsrrt it in this device and try again

This sd card cannot be decrypted becouse it was encrypted on another device.sd cards can only be decrypted on the bevice used to encrypted them.Decrypted the sd card on the device used to encrypted it,then reinsert it in this device,and try again

There is no sollution to decrypt a card on another phone. It must be decrypted on the phone that encrypted it.
