I like to treat multiclassing as a symbol of character development.
Started as a ranger and as the hunter became the hunted (due to the artefact), he played the uno reverse card on his chasers and went gloom stalker in order to remain the first to strike in his encounters. After the party traversed the underdark, he dipped into the rogue class to further hone his abilities to using the shadows to his advantage and so on. 😊

Playing a swords bard on my first playthrough and loving the class/subclass. Aside from hilarious moments like singing to a Necromancer’s Tome, you have an answer for everything. Need crowd control? Take your pick of spells and abilities. Damage; weapon or magic? Heals and buffs? They got some of that too. The hardest part is deciding what to take at character creation and level up.

Making your player character a Charisma class is definitely beneficial, but one thing BG3 does that I like is the many opportunities to use class-specific interactions in conversation, which often comes with either using an ability that you're more likely to be proficient in (Monks get a lot of insight checks which are wisdom based) or will give advantage (Barbarians got a lot of opportunities to use intimidation with advantage) So the game is more flexible around your choice than at least I expected it to be.

I did a Beast Master Ranger and Beserker build for Minsc (I believe it was 7 / 5 each,) and I can confirm it was a whole lot of fun. That to me feels the most "in-game" representation of Minsc based on his Beserker-Ranger subclass from BG1 and 2. (I also gave him the Gauntlets of Strength to be more like the Minsc we see in his first cutscene.) Having an added bear tank to go alongside his hamster feels just right.
I'd also recommend playing a Great Old One Warlock (Pact of Tomb) / Assassin Rogue build as there is a lot of fun synergy to be had with the way the assassin subclass can apply to things like Eldritch Blast, especially on a Dark Urge run.

I love Great Old One Warlock. In Act 2, there is a certain interaction where it says my patron is excited about what's behind a certain wall. Knowing I was a Great Old One Warlock, that statement alone scared the shit out of me. It encouraged me to do something unusual, and that revealed large plot elements pivotal to the entire game. It also dislocated my shoulder until the next long rest, but frankly that's a small price to pay considering the sheer scale of what I learned and how it impacts the plot.

@@yamabshi So in the first room of Moonrise towers when you enter through the front gate, on your left you have a ladder going up into the rafters above the rooms. There are some wooden beams on the left you can jump towards. Follow those beams and you'll find a cracked wall you can interact with.
I'll spoil the rest after a couple of enters if you really can't find it, it's a good thing to find on your own and there is something of a reward.

So you notice flesh behind the wall, wriggling through the tower. If you're a normal class, your companions will comment on how gross it is. If you're a Great Old One Warlock, you get a message that "your patron is excited about what's behind this wall". So if you reach into the wall, and use the new option to not fight back against it, you'll get a special cutscene with the Absolute herself, telling you she is held against her will by the chosen. You will also be pulled into a giant fleshy area beneath Moonrise, with a Tadpole on a corpse and a glimpse of what you encounter later after the first fight with Ketheric.
You can get that cutscene as well on normal classes if you choose not to wriggle your hand free from the wall, but the Great Old One Warlocks are the only one who get a message encouraging them not to break free.

My brother swears on respeccing Shadowheart from Trickery to Tempest. I can testify that respeccing her to Light is awesome.
Favorite subspec though? Necromancer Wizard. Just insane.
4 flying ghouls from Animate Dead. 5 walking ghouls from Danse Macabre. 1 Mummy from Create Undead (vastly underrated summon BTW). 1 Elemental Myrmidon from Summon Elemental upcasted to rank 6. 1 Deva from the scroll Bestial Communion (obviously this was created for Wizards to learn, not for other classes to use once -- gives Wizards access to Planar Ally without learning Planar Ally, and it happens to be the best one of the bunch for ghouls/mummy thanks to fear.)
This is on top of everything else Wizards have to offer. Your small army is enough to solo just about anything with barely any input from the actual Wizard.
Oh, and throw in the Staff of Cherished Necromancy for unlimited Necromancy spells (just equip, destroy 10 boxes or so, and spam upcasted Blight/Circle of Death/Eyebite to your heart's content. Don't forget about Dethrone for the execute, either!
[P.S. If you're rather, you can unequip Staff of Cherished Necromancy and replace with another staff. The free Necromancy spell charges stay; you do, however, lose the advantage effect for necro spells. Dual Wield staves like a boss, imo.]

Totally agree with this list. Warlock is my favorite class hands down and it fits my playstyle in most situations; dungeon-crawl minimal rests. BG3 taking Pact of the Blade to the next level with some of the Hexblade bonuses and then doubling down on Deepened Pact stacking with other forms of Extra Attack just takes it over the top. In 5E Paladin is probably the strongest class, but with the changes in BG3 It may well be dethroned.
Honorable mention needs to go to the Bard though. They have all the utility of a Rogue, numerous ways to support the party in general, and is all wrapped up with a pretty high degree of variability in how they play. Song of Rest is hugely powerful in BG3 and I feel like any party is at a disadvantage without it. To that end my Tav is a GOO/Swords atm and its a blast to run.

I’m on Act 3 with my Circle of the Moon Druid and having a blast with it. You can Wild Shape as a bonus action (as opposed to other druids who need to use their main action) meaning you can take swipes as an Owlbear or spit acid on someone as a freaking dilophosaur on the same turn.

I personally prefer the Valor Bard (with 2 levels of FIghter for Action Surge) over the Swords Bard. I like having a full spellcaster who is also a tank when I already have a Barbarian/Battlemaster and Warlock/Paladin to deal ridiculous amounts of damage, especially when said spellcaster/tank can also heal and buff said damage dealers (it seems a lot of people forget you can use Bardic Inspiration before combat) or disable key opponents at the start of a combat. It's also great fun from a roleplaying perspective for a "good guys" playthrough since you can be such an over-the-top good guy with some of the dialogue options the class gives you, and then go and sing about how great a good guy you are on the street corner.
My other favourite is a Light domain Cleric with 1 level of Wizard and a Headband of Intellect as a Cleric of Mystra (a very flavourful multi-class option for Gale or someone romancing Gale). You get most of the best Wizard spells as part of the Cleric spell list and can fill in the few missing spells you really want from the Wizard spell list by using some scrolls.

I'm currently running a Tiefling bardlock on my second play-through.
I made Lae'zel just like your showing here but I went with move attack, disarm attack, and counter attack.
I managed to miss her the first time and Karlack too!
So I'm makin up for lost time runnng both with SH and sometimes Gale.
Karlack is also the only character I have immediately liked.
Didn't like Gale, ,Will , even Shadowheart to begin with but,
    they grew on me.
Gale I found was an excellent problem solver tho.
    Really good at chess too.

Monk/College of Swords has been really fun to play this game with, as a melee/ranged hybrid. I had first intended to make it an elements monk, which visually is amazing with their fire fangs strike that can use weapon animations - bonus fact, it applies to ranged weapons after, so that's a nifty little thing that's just cool. Anyway, in these late levels I've tried Swords bard10/monk2 instead and it is amazing with the banishing smite, along with the mystic scoundrel ring.. a certain trident visually fits this so well too, although i had to go Weapon master to make it work, but really several weapons look so cool with the monk flavour.
Stats difficult (12 con :P), unusual combination, but it really evoked the dancing pole weapon master. Anyway... Swords bard ftw!

Here is a fun build idea:
    Wizard 2, Bard 3, sorcerer 6, Cleric 1
    The idea:
Wizard 2 - You go for divination so you can reroll 2 dice every long rest.
Bard 3 - You get bardic inspiration as well as cutting words so you can just interrupt anyone you want anytime.
Sorcerer 6 - You take at level 4 the "Lucky" feat so you can reroll any dice you want. and at level 6 wild mage sorcerer you get "Bend Luck" Which you can use to add 1d4 to attack rolls, saving throw, etc.
Cleric 1 - You take the light domain so you can impose disadvantage on any attack about to hit you.
Welcome to the "Bender of reality" build.
If you want to top this, have either halfling as a race so you cannot practically roll crit fails, OR take gomes for their ability to have advantage on saving throws regarding wis, int and char. An alternative is going for githyanki for custom proficiency bonuses based on need or be astarion for the +1 vampire bonus from bites. Welcome!

Good call on all of these.
The Bard in particular gives me that F/M/T power fantasy from old school D&D CRPGs.
In BG3, if not multiclassing, I keep coming back to the draconic bloodline sorcerer. You can do more burst damage, particularly in the late game, with a multi class build. But as early as level two or three, with the right spell selection Twin or Quicken spell can just clear away half of your opponents on round one. And it’s still a powerhouse in the last act.

I prefer Archfey Warlock, for the starting spells it grants. Tempest Cleric is what I use for Shadowheart as well, I really like the Thunderwave, blasting people off cliffs. my third class is the Berserker barbarian, more specifically, the enraged thrower build, which I use on Karlach, it's so much fun and does massive damage and the last one? the Gloomstalker Ranger. I don't know why, but I've always loved the ranged physical damage dealers in the games I play. the archer rogue in Dragon Age origins, the hunter in World of Warcraft, the Sniper or the Mercenary in SWTOR. it also really seals it for me that the gloomstalker, the archer rogue and the WoW hunter get an animal companion that helps them do damage too. in my current playthrough, I have 4 of these 5. My character players the gloomstalker ranger, Karlach is the enraged thrower, Shadowheart the tempest cleric, and Wyll is the warlock, although, I kept him as the fiend because it's lore friendly.

Tempest Cleric's one weak spot is not having all the lightning spells. Luckily Call Lightning is efficient. Add the equipment that adds reverberation on lightning hits and other gear that adds debuffs whenever you afflicted a debuff and you can really debilitate survivors of your AoE.

No Barbarian, sadge. I like having a tempest cleric just as you which is Shadowheart. I also like playing my Wizard the same as you so I make Gale and Evo Wizard. So that is two spell casters. Then I usually run Astarion as a Thief/Ranger or Thief/Fighter hybrid as well. So having a Wild Magic Barbarian I really enjoy. It keeps the gameplay fresh as everytime you Rage it's different and having 2 potentially 3 casters depending if I go Ranger or not being able to restore spell slots is also nice and fun. Plus Raging in general is just really cool to me and Barbs combined with some other things like Wilf Magic 9th Barb with 3rd level champion fighter can while not the most damage still do a ton and crit super often. I jus find it really fun and it also fits in with the kind of party I like to play really well.
