No way dude. These are one of those godly videos you came across ever so often which is just really simple but extremely helpful. I knew there was an easy way to do this. Thank you so much for this!
Lifesaver!!! Amazing. First option worked. Didn't have "voice recorder" application but I do have "audacity". Put headphones on and voila! Magnificent! Thank you!
I will record Kevin's voice instead of music. Your voice is just so clear and easy to understand. Audacity and OBS are probably the best free apps out there that do almost everything you want it to do. The only Window that I will never close is the Windows operating system. Great video.
Thanks Kevin. I installed Audacity on my system years ago but forgot how to use it. I was almost going to uninstall it a few months ago but thank god i waited for a bit! Seeing this your video i made my first recording with Audacity! Tnx
Configuring StereoMix on Windows 10 looks completely different on my PC than shown here. Your tutorials are excellent so I hate to ask you to do more work. While most of us are sticking with or can't upgrade to Win11 we need both the Win10 and Win11 versions when changes need to be made using Setings. Keep up the excellent tutorials, always clear and easy to follow. Thanks.
Neil Muller I was considering saying the same thing. I really appreciate Kevin's work! But ... finding these features within these two operating systems is a completely different experience for me as well, as I am also on Windows 10 still.
@@tyrant351 Well... If it's like a job for the video's creator, sure. But most of time people are doing such things just because they want/like, so in the end it's *us* that should search in another place. I'm sure there are other videos in Windows 10 or even 7 if it's the case, or even text explanation.
Thank you. Been having the worst time trying got make stereo mix work on new Windows 11 device. Installed Realtek codec which fixed the issue but this then stopped my headphones from working properly. This is a nice simple work-around.
I did try your first suggestion before but I did not get the sound. I watched your video and now IT WORKS. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Thank you for such clear explanations too. Some YTers jump around and it is hard to follow.
Your voice is sick. Never heard anyone's voice more clearer and understandable. Awesome! Thank you so much for all the videos you share, especially your tutorials. You are one awesome person!
Thank you very much! i was able to resolve the problem of not recording my laptop audio. i thought i needed to troubleshoot. and your voice is very clear when i test recorded.Thank you! :)
Many thanks, Kevin - you are a lifesaver. I downloaded a third party program which had no guidance on how to record! You made it simple to do with Windows itself!
This is FANTASTIC!! I already had Audacity on my system and I went with that. I have videos that people have sent me where they are really just people talking. I want to be able to listen while I walk the dogs and now I can. Thank you SOOOOOOOO much!!!
None of the solutions allow you to record both other party's zoom meeting voice nor your voice at the same time if you are using headphones. Without using speakers and only with headphones, how can you record both voices?
When using Audacity at 4:19 to the right of Speakers where it says Mono you should select Stereo. I would think you would want the music you record to be in Stereo. As a side note Audacity takes up alot of RAW internal storage when recording so you may not want to be recording for very long recording session if you are low on disk space. This storage is freed up when you exit however. it is only used while the app is open. Learned this the hard way. Computer froze up because I ran out of disk space and had no way to save. Mind you it was a long recording session. I don't see a reason to use Virtual Audio Cable unless you have multiple audio sources using multiple audio cards. OBS is another free tool you can use to save audio but it only saves as MP4 but it is not application storage intensive. Just open the MP4 in Audacity to obtain the audio and save as whatever format you need.
Whenever I have a problem or need to accomplish something on my computer, you always come up with a solution! I really appreciate your help, Kevin, and thank you for sharing such a helpful video.
Thanks for this little tutorial. The first option wasn't working for me, but I downloaded Audacity and followed your instructions. The latest version of Audacity is a bit different from what appears in the video, but I was able to get it to work and successfully recorded the audio clip I wanted. Very grateful!

Hi kevin. Wonderful wonderful help, mate. Being an older user, some of the tech stuff flies overhead, but your explanation is simple, concise, and very easily-delivered and understood. With a mixer that supports ‘mix minus’ so the voices don’t repeat against each other..
