I get the feeling she's just jammin'. I'm pretty sure she could if she wanted to but, I've never heard her play a song the same way twice. I've noticed a lot gets added to the songs the more she plays them.
I'm thankful UA-cam has the loop feature and I'm thankful Sierra Hull shares music I want to hear over and over...sometimes for hours on one song. There's so much there and it hits me different each time.
One of the best versions of this song. Fantastic. Saw you in Portland OR in 2022 with Cory Wong. That was also one of the best concerts I've been to. Great stuff, Sierra!
Dear Lord, giving me the shivers. So good. Bela fleck jam. Just saw him wailing with Dave a month ago. Next time Dave crushes Phoenix, Jeff please bring Sierra.
Awesome! This strikes me as some kind of a breakthrough, or a step to the next level. Sierra's stage presence was commanding and the combination of various instruments was perfect!
This sounds like an old "Strength In Numbers" piece - written by Bela Fleck. How cool that the original mandolin player on that recording was Sam Bush - Sierra's mentor. Gotta love it.
@@neilgendzwill3260 I was 99% sure I knew it's her 2009 Gibson Master Model, checking myself I found this; "Sierra Hull indeed plays a Gibson Master Model, dated from 2009, David Harvey signed and it does have the L.R. Baggs pickup. I got to play her MM at Huck Finn Jubilee in June of this year; really fine instrument that reminded me a lot of my buddy's 2007 Gibson Sam Bush in it's tonality and feel. As an aside I asked her how does her MM compare to the "better" Loars she has played and she replied, favorably!"
Sierra has a special brand of music. She is so unique, so adaptable to any genre...she always strives to add something special to any song or tune every time she plays it, like in this version of Stomping Grounds...Sierra is really the only artist out there who has tastefully turned the mandolin into a superb sounding lead acoustic instrument - and yet her rhythm parts are off the charts. Her style of guitar playing is quite special too...One of the genuine jewels in the crown of truly great musicans out there today.
I saw her perform in St. Augustine, St. Patrick's Day weekend 2017. She, and an equally talented Double Bassist, did a rendition of "Battle of Evermore", followed by a Big Tymers cover. She made me cry, and I'm a Grown Ass Man... I felt no shame.... To say that she is truly an amazing talent would be the understatement of the Millenia...
Wow, just wow. The joy of all those amazing players on the stage is contagious even though it's just a recording on youtube. Can't imagine what it was like seeing this live! Great job!
WOW! This is beautiful!!!! ❤ So much raw talent on that stage it's awesome!!! Thanks Sierra for sharing this! I think you are such a talented woman! And very pretty. Keep playing , music is LIFE! Love you all!
I was actually just looking for good soprano saxophonists, as I play it myself, and came across you. You have inspired me. What a time, what joy and lightness, what a composition, and what a successful combination of soprano sax and folk-country music. I love it! Best regards, Ralf Olbrich from the E3-Acoustic-Band from Germany.
I've been noticing the guitarist in Sierra's band for a while now, but I never know his name, such a delightful musician, great phrasing when he does his solo lines, awesome accompaniment and complements Sierra extremely well. Anybody knows who he is?
Omg!!!! Just found you. You are amazing. My dad sent me this video saying you are an amazing musician, he was right. You and all. Thanks 😍 Also agree with other comments here, your smile while playing is like your music!!
This young lady is a musical genius and her smile makes me happy. Jeff Coffin…genius, of course.
yes she is

INDEED!
She is so good it's uncanny.
I'm thankful UA-cam has the loop feature and I'm thankful Sierra Hull shares music I want to hear over and over...sometimes for hours on one song. There's so much there and it hits me different each time.
Now this was a fun jam! Sierra remains at the top of her game!
OMG...what a thrill! He's the OG? The Oh Golly? Holy smokes. Bela and Victor gonna dig this!! Thanks so much...go Sierra and friends!!
It is raining, cold, and dark out there, but you guys brightened my day. Sierra and this group of amazing musicians!!!
Extremely talented acoustic masters of their instruments..Pure acoustic display of top level mastery.
Can't stop listening to this. What is it? Bluegrass, jazz, Gentle Giant ;) ? Anyway it's Sierra Hull on a next level. Beautiful!
Yes! Absolutely. I think I might have heard some Pink Floyd in there.
@@irrefudiateVery droll, Baldrick! ☮️🧙🏼♂️🏴 🇬🇧

I hear a bit of Swedish folk in here too!
A lot of jazz fusion influence, like The Rippingtons, but less bassy. Pretty neat stuff, I love it!
Sierra puts the mandolin sound in a new dimension. All the music are awesome! Great show!
One of the best versions of this song. Fantastic. Saw you in Portland OR in 2022 with Cory Wong. That was also one of the best concerts I've been to. Great stuff, Sierra!
Sierra is such a badass. All amazing musicians.

I keep sharing this jam to my friends cause it brings me joy, I wish it can do the same to other people.
Yea! That's just how Bela Fleck and the Flecktones woiuld have done it! .......except with a banjo. I loved this Sierra!
Such an enjoyable performance! Very impressed by the level of musicianship here.

Wow the improvisational chops on all of them is amazing!
This put a real smile on my face. Thanks!
how beautiful it is 👌
Absolutely first class!
Love the way everyone had a solo in the song.
This is amazing stuff! I was all smile thoroughout. Thank you all!
That is just incredible. It’s so fun to watch and listen to musicians having a great time themselves.
Keeps getting better and better!
Great cover!!! Been a Bela Fleck fan for decades! The Wootens too! Wow!
Absolutely love how effortless y’all make it and how much fun you’re having with such a great song. Can’t wait to catch y’all again live!
Sierra Hull us surely giving that 1920's Lloyd Loar mandolin a work out.
Damn beautiful instrument, and she rocks the shit out of it!
Don’t think it’s a Loar. Her main axe is a modern Gibson, custom crafted for her.

Brought a smile to my face! Great job everyone! 🥰
Absolutely wonderful 👏👏👏👏👏
Excellent! Keep on doing what you do so well!
Those guys are tighter than a banjo head. And, this arrangement is amazing. Very nice.
I never fail to be blown away by Sierra's incredible talent. She makes it look so easy.
its ok to put this on repeat - you're not alone
Sierra you are BADD!!!! Dang!!! Bless you, you make such a difference. ❤️
been to heaven and it sounds just like this. amen
Sierra. Please put this arrangement on your next album
I mean Sierra and the entire band is just awesome
Why am I just now learning about this gorgeous young woman with monster mandolin skills?!
Wow! Just Wow! Love this.
You guys look like you're having Sooooo much fun and the music is amazing!
Love it !!!
Oh boy !!
My favorite bluegrass band.
Every player is top-notch.
Jeff Coffin fits in amazingly.
So fun, what an impressive lineup here!
Saw Jeff with the Flecktones years ago. That dude can play! Same with Sierra. Saw her at Blueplumb in Johnson City when she was a child.
That was recording quality. I didn't know this kind of music still existed in this corporate music world.
Awesome!!
it's the mirth of virtuosity. mind blowing
WOW is not enough when you can feel the taste of music in your mouth.
unreal 😮

Sierra is on top !
Every so often musicians touch on that magic and the instruments really become voices and songs become conversations. Magic
I love this jazz grass fusion!
Reminds me back in 88’ when I saw Chic Corea with John Patitucci and Frank Gambale. But I like y’all better. Your musicality wins me over.
Nice... uplifting..thanks !
Well done - Bravo !
Oh Sierra you make me so happy . Thanks. Jonas
Yes! Sinister minister would be amazing too
Absolutely brilliant! Thank you:)
Got me up and dancing alone in my office. Thank you for the smiles. I needed that 🙏
I had a smile on my face the whole time watching this. That's what music should do. ❤ Such an awesome and talented band! 😍🤘
La Mejor Sierra!! Sorprendente. Saludos desde Caracas 🇻🇪 Venezuela 🤙🌊💯🌹
Ive seen the Flecktones multiple times, and this is as good as they can do. Bravo Sierra. You and your band (with Jeff) sound friggin great!

I miss the Jeff Coffin Flecktone years. His sense of musical playfulness fit so perfectly. Awesome jam, Sierra and co. Does the original justice.
The call and response was well practiced no doubt, but to be that good and have that much fun is amazing to witness.
Glad to know the concert was a sellout, Sierra! Love the pink outfit.
Her show the other night didn't have an horn or woodwind instruments. But several of the songs still had quite a jazzy feel to them.
