Diddy said the industry only elevates people without talent, bc then the "artists" know they're only successful bc the industry allowed them to be and it can be taken away at any time. It's literally designed to avoid elevating talented musicians. It's not a bug, it's a feature.
This whole show was pure magic. Just perfect all night. For folks who asked.. At one point during the show Chris said.. Should we play the rest with just one shoe off. And they both kneeled down at the same time and indeed took a shoe off. It was such a fun little moment out of many. At one point Chris's shoe came untied and Billy bent down and tied it. Chris says.. See Billy has respect for his elders lol he had everyone cracking up. This little theater in Lincoln center was renovated and now is easily one of the most amazing acoustically sounding rooms you could ever see a performance at. Absolutely perfect for this stripped down show. I really hope they play together some more. They only practiced a little together before this and it was like they'd been playing together their whole lives. So grateful to have been there.
One of the many things I love about Billy is how he doesn't hog the spotlight. It's hard to look away from him as it is, but he gives fellow musicians the floor and can work in with anyone. That's special.
Funny because I hadn't heard of Billy before but Chris and Cory are absolute monsters. So 'hog the spotlight' indeed, it all depends on your perspective.
@@bobbycressey Yup same! Perspective. Thile has been getting Grammy nominations since 1997, and has been awarded a few. Billy's climb to fame was super steep (deservedly so).
Billy is one crazy guy. There's videos of him plying with a ton of people, in different genres - a testimony of how much he is respected and liked by other musicians.
Chris is the actual star , he was selling albums when he was a teen. Billy looks up to him. Billy is amazing, Chris is one of the best ever in his instrument. One with a long line of greats
Whoever took this video had to have been sitting near us (6th row center aisle). This show was a revelation in every way. The sound in Geffen Hall was spectacular the performances for the ages. Hope these guys get together again. More please!
Makes me cry all the time. My dad and I used to knee slap and sing along in the car all the time on the way and back from his doctors appts and stuff. I made a playlist and we’d just sing away like a couple of the happiest people on earth. I still love hearing it even though it’s hard but I know he’s up there still singing with me. ❤

I love that Billy is bringing a whole new demographic & fan base to Bluegrass. I hope folks also check out the other artists he's collaborating with, because they are incredible as welll. Chris has been part of several groups and 8've been lucky enough to see him live with two of them for a total of 5 times I think. I don't know as much about Cory Henry, but I'll be checking out his solo stuff and listening to more Snarky Puppy, that's for sure! this sounds like it was a magical night. I thank these amazing musicians for making the world a better place.
(mostly for JP) If you want a little more of Cory Henry, check out "Snarky Puppy - Lingus (We Like It Here)". I saw your title and thought, "Holy $%^&, Billy and Cory on stage together... I GOTTA hear that." Clearly, that evening was exactly what I would have imagined. World class musicians, no doubt.

Wow wow wow. Never imagine seeing two of my favorite musician up there together. Cory Henry is a master in jazz music and Billy strings in Bluegrass. I don’t know the name of the guy on the mandolin but he is pretty awesome too. Y’all made my day.
Corporate music cannot compete with this....we need more.

The supergroup we never knew we needed.
This is what was needed at Telluride Bluegrass's 50th last summer!!! Glad it's finally happening
Amen to that.😊😊
Need more of these guys together

Billy's goofy grin.

Thile is only 10 yrs older than Billy -
not exactly his “elder”😂
thx for sharing your experience with us - sounds like an amazing and unique venue and performance ❤
Sounds like an amazing show. People taking one shoe off. So sad I missed that amazing act of performance 🙄
They really should do a duet album! It would be splendid like the duet albums Chris has done with Edgar Meyer or Mike Marshall.
@@alro11 Thanks for reading it. It truly was a really special show.
This is a Grammy winning trio if I've ever seen one
I’m pretty sure two of the three already have one. 😂
They gotta put out some records for sure 🤞🤞

Only two kinds of music in the world -- good music and bad music.
no dancers, costumes, make up, pyrotechnics ,ego trips, just talent, and it blows away everything !
Well said ♥️🕊
They even shut off the PA for this one. Just really talented musicians playing from their hearts
Just like the 70’s
I love how Billy always pays close attention to what the others are playing. He's so real.

that’s actually insane

As a Christian… I love how hymns have become a part of classic folk music like this and Where the soul of many never dies etc.
As a former Christian, I like how this music has brought me back.
