The machine comes with small metal angle brackets to secure the unit to a baseboard. It is a simple DIY job to add a support under the free arm, which makes for a more solid unit. Once secured to a wood base board, there are no shake issues. It’s a no brainer fix well worth doing.
Nice review! You may want to look at squaring the acrylic bases if you are getting to much wobble. Best thing to do like you said would be to screw it down though. Good job!
Have you already tried if it REALLY cuts the power to the laser beam when you bump into it? Mine does NOT stop the laser, even if I start shaking the machine.
Those engravings are awesome!!!!! Can you share what settings you use for your engravings? I know you said to test it out but a video explaining how to interpret the test results and how to translate them to engraving would be beautiful. Even easier would be you put the settings on screen so we can have a baseline.
I want to get a laser to engrave on fleece jackets mainly. Maybe on normal cotton Shirts and sweaters too. Does maybe someone know if this is the right tool? And if so, wich laser modul?
Not directly from xTool but there are a few pretty cheap 3rd party add ons. At the end of the day your basically just attaching a rubber tube to the side of the laser module with a compressor at the other end.
Engraving is the process of removing material, so, yeah, you'll lose gold - basically it will go up in smoke. Only way to check amount of loss is to experiment. 1. Weigh the gold before cutting/engraving 2. Cut engrave a known distance 3. Weigh the gold after cutting/engraving. 4. Subtract weight in step 3. from weight in step 4. This will tell you how much has been lost for that amount of cutting/engraving.
What GPH would you recommend for the Air Pump? Your link leads to one that ranges from 600GPH to 1750GPH. I went ahead and purchased this Laser with the LU2-2 7W and the LU2-4 LF and am just trying to figure out which pump you link to would be more appropriate for the Long Focus Laser. The Ortur Site just says a flow rate of >40ml/min which converts to 0.6 gal/hour. If what Ortur listed is correct, would that mean any pump would work and be overkill?
For engraving directly into metal you'll need a fiber laser. If the metal is stainless or has a coating then you could use a laser like this or a CO2 laser.
I want to use a laser engraver to engrave my logo on woodturnings. To get more detail I’m thinking of using to least powerful laser module. My question is about lifetime. If I use the L2 I will be using it at maybe up to 100% power. Will that significantly shorten the life of the laser module? Thanks, Vic
Haven’t gotten hands on with it yet, but it seems like that took the D1 and added a vinyl cutter to it and made it duly enclosed. It looks really interesting
Looking to engrave my Custom design(s) at a minimum depth of .50mm onto a 16 gauge alum sheet, which will be exposed into a outdoor environment. After engraving, I want to polish the whole aluminum body to a high reflective sheen. What do you recommend?
Very interesting info. Been in the market for a diode laser and may have to go back & look into this one again. I hope you get a chance to talk about the Sculpfun S9 that is being released soon. It looks promising but would love to know if it actually is.
I just noticed that on the Ortur site they do not sell the LU2-2 or the LU2-4 SF module by themself. They have a regular LU2-4 but it does not say SF. They also have a LU2-4 for the Master 2 but it is 12v and does not support the Master 2 Pro or the Aufero Laser 1 and it is sold out anyways. They only sell the LU2-4 LF by itself. It would be nice if they sold the machine with the option to get all three modules with it, which is what I want. As of now I would have to choose between LU2-2 or LU2-2 SF and then buy the LU2-4 LF by itself. I would basically be missing out on one of the other modules which sort of sucks if you want all three.
I’m overloaded with choices! My need is for the best budget-minded laser that will cut out and then engrave abalone and mothe of pearl inlays for guitars. Keith
Hi! I've been looking for a laser module capable of etching pcb and engraving anodized aluminum. The thinner the beam spot, the better. Any recommendations??? Thanks, Excellent channel!!!⚡🤖⚡
Picked up the 10W xTool D1 after another one of your videos. I'm curious if you have any recommendations on protective eye ware for these type of diode machines. While it came with one set, I'd like to have additional sets in the shop. Didn't see any in your affiliate links.
Nothing specific other than what comes with it. Honestly i would recommend putting it in some type of enclosure, that’s always going to be the safest option
As far as budget lasers go. What are your thoughts on the sainsmart Jinsoku LC-60A? Sainsmart have a good reputation in the budget cnc field for quality and support. Although there are no reviews: For the size, and the included air assist it seems like a great deal at $499 USD. It's hard for me not to consider it based on the positive reviews of there similar scaled down model LE5040.
Alright so I’m brand new to this. Excited and want to get a machine. What would you suggest for a brand new user but can learn quickly. Been looking at the xtool d1 as my first choice but honestly looking for a true professional’s opinion. Looking for engraving and cutting. Hope to do some tumblers, ornaments, signs, etc.
As a beginner i should start with a k40 laser, there is also alot of information about about it on the internet. There are also alot of facebook groups with people willing to help out. Overall Its cheap and a good laser to start with, i made alot of changes to mine but the positive thing about that is that you learn everything about the laser. Now my knowledge about lasers in overall is good. I hope it helped a little bit
If you want to geet a laser machine, I'll first recommend aufero, now it sells $199.99, and you can only use it with some basic parameters in different materials, that is enough for a new user to learn how to use a laser, when you know more then you can start with a higher lever laser machine.
If your just starting out I would recommend something like this machine. You'll be able to engrave most of the things your looking for plus get a general idea of the things you like if you ever wanted to step up to a bigger mahcine.
just one thing that id like to point out! Your version "Reviewer Version" Brings the 3 laser modules but when a regular costumer buys it we have to choose wich one of the three we want and each separate module is arround 200€
the only good point of this engraver is that finally someone starts selling these diode lasers with the predisposition for air assist; for the rest it has a ridiculous working area (18x18) and a certainly not budget price (345 €, for the 20W version of such a machine, are a very high cost.)
I still think the lower power laser module for around $200 is a pretty good intro price for someone just looking to get into it. And then the more expensive modules you can bring to a bigger machine like the Ortur Laser Master Engraver 2 Pro
@@makeorbreakshop now the smooth 20W (non pro) is the market base and for a 20w the price is very high. For me it is clear that Ortur has decided to make the most of the name it made with the first Laser Master, but NOW it is only selling machines with a lot of make-up at very high prices (the LM2PRO is a clear example); I hope that the operation does not go well for them (because they also increase the prices of other brands) but it is my opinion. Greetings

Will I be able to mark silver? so I have lines to trace it with my hand graver?
Would this work on a flashlight body?

Which laser will you recommend for leather patches

can this engraver engrave on metal like gold and silver ?
Hello can you use a rotary with the Aufero Portable Laser Engraver 1
Is there anyway you can review the laser tree 80w 10w output with air assist??

do you have any info on the sculpfun s9 laser engeraver
Im confused by the mislabeled tests and references. What is the cutting ability of the actual LU2-2?
Hello I just got my aufero laser 1, do you have any test files for lasergrbl, thx
How did you get all 3 heads in a box? mine only came with 1.
Can laser engravers be wall mounted?
I don't see the link for the compressor in the description. Any chance you can let us know what compressor you used for air assist on this machine?
Sorry, just added it. Also here it is: amzn.to/3H8HDCF
Where can I see the links?

Not directly from xTool but there are a few pretty cheap 3rd party add ons. At the end of the day your basically just attaching a rubber tube to the side of the laser module with a compressor at the other end.
Did you ever get the frosted look you was after mate?
Can I use it to cut GOLD. I mean I'm going to loose so much of Gold powder while cutting or engraving? How can I check that.

@@mikel4510 Thank you so much for your efforts to explain in detail. I'll definately do it.
Having to directly connect it to computer, is a big con for me. All my design software is on a desktop. Can you just load files from usb stick?

Can it do tumblers if you purchase the "roller thing" accessorie?? Can they "talk" to each other?
Thank you for your time and effort 🍻
Does anybody know if you can use this laser for adding names and line art to a AR-15 mags? I've used paint and what not doesn't last a long time.

@@makeorbreakshop Thanks for the response. Sorry, they are plastic polymer.
You say that it is 1.6 watt. Internet says 7 watts. What is the right wattage of the lu 2-2 laser?

What is your view on the xTool M1 Laser & Blade Cutter currently being crowdfunded on Kickstarter? Thank you.

I would like to see more acrylic on these.

Could you use this to engrave at least 0.003 inch into 7075 aluminium?
Have you tested the Sculptfun S6 Pro?
Coming soon!
Any thoughts about sculpfun?
Specially about the S6, S6 pro and S9...
I haven't had the chance to check it out yet but I will soon!
Can a rotary be hooked up to this one?
Yep! An Ortur sells one on their site.

I keep a few and usually give away the rest to friends who are local.
