Way late to comment but I am still rocking one of these after 30 plus years. IMO depending on your winter weather it even excels in extreme cold. Vestibule easily let’s stay in your bag and cook, as well as leaving room for gear. I have been looking for a new tent but my older stuff is still as viable as it was years ago. Ty for the review.
Hello Thor nice view you did on the tent. That is a very nice tent man for $200 dollars. I Know somebody who can use cuz they looking for a tent right around this price range. Good Video man thank you for sure.
I’ve been a big fan of Sierra Designs for many years and still own several models from them. But I’ve been pretty disappointed in the direction the company has gone since they partnered with Target.
I have been really disappointed too. I have noticed a HUGE difference in their products now on shelves at target vs. what I used to buy from them. Sad to see them sell out
have the 1996 edition ; still in use and the 2004 edition ; still in use ; Very happy with it ; the newer models tent to have zipperproblems i have red in the internet : (
I used one of these for 20 years yet by 2010 or so... found it way too heavy. BTW...this tent condensates as much as any other. No longer he tent for me. Thanks for the video.
Darn good for under $200.00 and definitely a trail tested tent , just not for me. I don't like the color , prefer more subdued colors ( Greens , Tans ) that blend in with the woods. Also I would feel like I'm sleeping in a tunnel with restricted vision. A tent with a door on one side or better yet both sides , or a Jungle Hammock. Fortunately not all of us like the same things.
I couldn’t agree more! I definitely have my preferences as well. That’s why backpacking so much fun, there are so many options out there. The trick is figuring out what we like best 😂
The biggest con for me is the dog house style door. I absolutely hate having a single door on one end. I don’t care for it if I’m by myself, but It’s especially awful if you have 2 people in the tent.

Still using my 2001 Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight 2 CD! Re-seam-sealed it a couple years ago and rubbed it down with a DWR restoration product.
Recently re-seem sealed my early 2000s Clip. Looking forward to taking it out this fall for a retro trip. Solid tent.
That’s so awesome! It really is a solid tent. That really cool you still have it
Thanks for sharing man! I've checked this tent out a few times. Looks Solid!

There has never been more variety in the shelters available. Choice is good.
only problem for me? Tele-tubbie blue in color... uggh! Nice size though
Hahaha 🤣 I wish they had other color options as well
I've used these tents for ages as they are entirely bulletproof. There are $900 tents that can't match this tent's performance.
If you're in weather that this tent can't handle you should go home and make sure your house is ok.

I totally understand that! I have always used this as a single man tent rather than 2.
That’s way to Heavy ! I’ll pass!
Looks extremely drafty
