I want to thank Adam for making a School/Kid friendlier version of this video, so I can share it for my students. I asked and he got back at me right away and I just think that is amazing. With all of the vidoes he creates, for him to take the time to edit one right upon request says something about the type of person he is. I just want him to get the credit and respect due. Thanks so much, I know I can use that video in my classroom for decades to come and I really appreciate it.
I'm about to have my first Session 0 tonight as a DM with all new players to Table Top Roleplaying Games here in Mexico City. I've been curious about DnD since I was a kid but wasn't able to actually play until 2 years ago.
RIGHT?! I had a DnD board game as a kid and now I'm in university and I JUST found out about that people actually play it. It's 2018 ffs where have I been T_T
Ive started playing DnD as of this year, then a summer camp came along and It went from my family playing with a friend of ours as DM and a small series (uploaded to my own channel) with my little brother, to a week where I was the dungeon master of 4 different games, going from 8 to 16 every day with 5 sessions per day. two of these games was more lose, but had up to 10 people at once. now Im in the wake of that, trying to find a way to make sure everyone who want to continue get their way, and to let others know more. thus I found this video, probably a good way to let people know more. thanks for uploading it
See if there is a Facebook page for it in your area or something. That's how I got my group where I'm a wood elf druid and I didn't know any of these people before we started playing.
I’m a DM, I enjoy it. My players are fairly inexperienced and don’t fully understand the point of the game. I enjoy it though, watching them continue to develop and grow into their characters as they roleplay more and hack n slash less.
I played a little bit of d&d pathfinder but it was hard to figure out how to put myself into the shoes of my first character and then I made up a back story for my character then I fit right into my character's shoes and it was a blast but here lately I have not be able to play for almost a whole year so ya but my love for d&d is still blazing
Sounds quite fun! And thanks for mentioning alternatives for someone, like me, wo may not be able to afford it or have people to regularly play with. I'm going to check out that podcast you recommended. Impressive collection, by the way!
For a really good example of a well done game, I'd suggest the show Critical Role on Geek & Sundry. The cast is made of professional voice actors, so it gets really involved. Twitch stream live every Thursday 8 Pm PST, or you can find the old episodes on their channel and website. What is really help is episode twelve so many people were missing they made it into a newbie episode to explain the how the game works. And for some reason their director dressed up in a unicorn onsie for his first every game of D&D. Great show.
Which books? D&D, like any hobby, isn't for everybody. There is a plethora of books and worlds to read about and dive into though. Also, a very small community around them :S Are you reading into one of the D&D novels? Such as RA Salvatore?
This is probably the only game I’d be interested in playing, but due to my horrible social anxiety, witch for some reason only affects my online life, I wouldn’t be able to play with people I don’t know and sadly I come from a country and city where I definitely wouldn’t find anyone interested in joining me on the magical quest of D&D. 😅
I think you did a fantastic job telling people what Dungeons and Dragons is about. I do have a questions/request, is it possible for you to make this same video, and exclude the "where the bitchs at" scene from Key and Peele. I want to show this to my students and that part just isnt classroom appropriate.
I can cut that out, no worries. Shoot me an email at adam@iaytd.com about this and I’ll send you a link to the new version, I won’t make it public but I’ll send you the direct link.
This is the greatest game ever. I wish I was born in THAT generation. Ugh, so sick of this wide variety of games nowadays, I'd rather play a single game for 10 hours before losing and shooting up a school because I get so mad. Wow. (__)__)::::::::::::::D~~~ oh dungeon master ~~~ thanks for letting me win ~~~~
Is the next step, after playing D&D is playing ouija board? lol Joke aside, never played D&D, my first rpgs were Pokemon Yellow, FF7 and 10, and that rpg book, Amazing adventures or something similar that at alot of books, that worked similar to D&D.
Uhmmmm..... have they transitioned to be played on a computer over lan and Internet? That would be way better. I don't mean as a traditional video game. But you wouldn't need all these papers and everything would be more structured.......
+X Kai There are definitely ways to utilize technology now. Apps and programs that do a lot of it. Some people just prefer paper, sometimes. You could go either way!
did you do any recommendations on such apps and programs, although i would love premade complex games where you can make your own maps, no dwarf fortress recommendation please. just something with feedback animation and map/sats/mobsetc creation
I hear about this stupid game (I guess it's a game) all of the time in my game groups, and yet no one ever invites me to play. It sounds dumb anyway. Sitting and listening to someone tell a story and then doing a bunch of math? Sounds like High School; no thanks.

It’s my pleasure!

+Josh Sterrett Good luck! Hope they have fun!
Lol I wanna play but I don’t have friends
I really want to play but I don't have anyone to play it with );
NovaCorp online groups exist
NovaCorp Same
Local game and books stores meet regularly. Facebook groups are also contact points. LARP-ers also are very likely gamers as well.

I just wanna understand it cuz ppl ik talk bout it alot
Annoyingly a lot. I'm tired of people talking about rolling a 1 in every single board game with dice.
This is such a great intro to show total newbies! Thank you, this'll be super useful! :)
Man I would love to play this, except none of my friends would do it.

or both, bed room role-play with the mate.

I played back in the 80s..AD&D 2, I miss it, we had 4 guys that played one campaign for almost a year..We would take turns being the DM.
Sounds quite fun! And thanks for mentioning alternatives for someone, like me, wo may not be able to afford it or have people to regularly play with. I'm going to check out that podcast you recommended. Impressive collection, by the way!

🤔I always wanted to play D&D but after I heard what it is all about... I'll stay reading the books😅
HeavenHell Entertainment what is it?

I sent you an email yesterday. Please send me that link asap.
I emailed a link to you late last night, let me know you got it!
Skyrim, boardgame edition.
Freaks and Geeks!
I enjoyed this one! Keep it up!
Are there any sites that allow a dungeon master to actually govern over the game over people who want to play?
I'm sure there are sites that allow you to play in remote locations, especially via webcams/etc, I just don't know what the best sites are for that.
In my group, we have different parts of our world, and dm our stories within our parts of this world

I love d&d. I don't have any one to play it with tho. I probably wouldn't have the time anyway lol
4:43 its high noon
I want to play but don’t have friends
Im saddened reading of the ppl who want to play but don't have friends. Best way to get a game is to run one. Check out meet up as well.

I’m still confused on what this is
is that patrick rothfuss
It is! He appears in a few episodes of Acquisitions Incorporated with the guys from Penny Arcade.

i luv paper and pen, but i prefer technology and efficiency since i don't always have resources and write and draw a lot.
