Hello and welcome to Saabkyle04! UA-cam's largest collection of automotive variety! In today's video, we'll take an up close and personal, in depth look at the all new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S550.

Throughout the video, I will highlight key styling and unique differences about the vehicle, any available options, and of course it would not be an enthusiast car video without the good ole engine portion with rev and exhaust note with interior and exterior perspectives. @@yaboi3220 they are actually very reliable as far as powertrain goes. They will literally last a life-time. Only issue is the air suspension, those cause issues. If I were you I would get an E class. Just as good.

Agreed. The S-Class renders in 2021 were kind of a let-down, considering the center console to have tablet-like screens instead of the revolutionary dual-infotainment system with a cover on the top. Also, not to mention the circular A/C vents were replaced with typical rectangular vents that are common with other brands instead of keeping the car “ ultra-modern “ and “ iconic “.

DJL Cyber dam. Are you for real fam ??? That sucks , I just bought me a 2018 s550 with all the features from the maybach except the rear passenger recliner full extension ( with the passenger seat folding , litte business tables and the little fridge ) oh yea and the v12 but everything else I added to it . Costed me a extra $12 k oh yea and I got a original color that nobody going to have is a mix of ( maroon /black/burgundy with glitter ) that it’s being done by the dealer and let me tell you the color looks so fly . They should of kept the same concept and just made it a little better like they always did . That tablet stuff are good for ( Nissan , Chevy , Ford etc. ) you know where I’m going with it . Not for no foreign cars smh That sucks tho 😢
Embrace The Pain I agree. The tablets look easier for car robbers to steal instead of the dual LED screens. Used as the speedometer and the infotainment system. In one video, they recalled the Mercedes Benz S class to be revolutionary in design, royal, yet ultra-modern. The exterior of the 2021 S550, maybe. However, the interior didn’t seem to top it off.
DJL Cyber I agree , if that’s the new design than I’m good and going to stay with my 2018 and probably upgrade to a 2020 maybach.. but let’s see what happens , because like you said the 2021 looks so easy to hack for thieves . Benz was always known for their unique look and styles that everyone always copied of them and damn near impossible to steal . Benz and bmw always came up with everything first than the rest always copied of them . It looks like that’s going to be gone now 😢 and hope not . God please let me be super wrong on what I just commented 😭😭

My all-time favorite car... Drove a friend's and had to get one... The essence of luxury, power and quality, all for a third of a rolls royce, with significantly better performance, and arguably looks too.
How is the reliability side of it? Thinking about getting one.

I have been in one IT IS SWEET ! There is heated arm rest ,seats,steering wheel,even the back! Moveable back seats ,cooled everything!
It's not a home soundtrack, it's a painstakingly put together voice over that I have to compile from scratch. This car is so technical, I had to do it based on time constraints. That's a very trivial thing to complain about being that all the information is there. If I do it, I do it for a certain reason, if it makes my life easier and makes filming these cars for you and everyone else easier, then it's a no brainer for me to do it.

2014 car and still looks new and modern. The new 2022 S class is amazing in the front but the interior and rear end is garbage. W222 is the perfect edition s class. I can relate myself

I have to say, this looks to be one heck of a car. Would definitely say that this is now my dream car (no joke).
I replaced my 2011 S-class in April 2015 with the 2015 S-class because of three incidents of unintended acceleration and didn't feel safe driving it anymore. Recently I've been having problems with my 2015 S-class and I've only had it for eight months. All of the warning lights, which include AEB, BSD, engine, auto hold, power steering, AWD and ABS turned on while driving. Even power steering was not working as well. I had to take it back to Mercedes twice to look into this problem. I got my car back again two days ago after getting the speed sensor replaced and test driven by its service manager and foreman for over 450km. Hopefully the problem has been fixed once and for all to save me the trouble of bringing it back. I am so lucky to have two lemons from the same brand (one after the other). The S-class I bought in May 2011 was my first German car. I was very happy with it for the first few years until the first incident of unintended acceleration happened in August 2014. Such experience with my S-class shake my faith in the quality of this brand.
+JustLucky I recently sold my Porsche Panamera and was looking to get a 2015 S550. I always read customer reviews before making purchases on high-end cars. The only thing luxury cars are good for nowadays is looking good in your driveway.

Yeah the S Class has horrid depreciation which is a good thing for second hand buyers like me. I mean heck there are 2010 CPO S550 with AMG package for less than $50 grand. Full service history and 7year/130k warranty. That's a far better deal than paying $120k just to have it drop by more than half in a few years.

Tierren32 You do have a point there. I'm sure the majority of S550s out there are leased from new. Leasing is good though, prepaid maintenance and warranty throughout the lease period.
***** Lets put it this way the Mercedes Benz is designed and priced really for the upper middle class and rich. If a person does not have at least $100k in the bank and is not making at minimum $2000 a week after taxes then financially they should not be trying to own this car cause the name of the game is getting ahead not going into debt trying to look the part. Leasing is the way to go if you are into having the latest car

People are not prepared to see the price of simple maintenance upkeep the dealer or the Mercedes Benz specialist is going to charge them.
Many people who lose their jobs or fall on hard times sell their paid off S550 because they cant afford the maintenance or the premium gas.
Most people that lease a high end cars usually have two or more cars on lease or in my case the car sits in the garage majority of the time while away on business

Mind blowing technology by Benz but I'm not a big fan of the all digital speed gauges wide display look. It would have looked better if it was embedded instead of just a rectangle display plopped out.

Alright,I used to be a BMW fan (not fanboy),until yesterday , when I got to sit in a 2014 S Class. The 7 series is a cheap piece of shit compared to that.
But as it has quad zone climate control,I don't see any switches for the rear climate...how does it work ? Maybe through the rear entertainment system,but I don't think so.
I'll always consider the 7 series to be the poor man's S Class.

I sat and rode in this car and it was absolutely incredible. The rear seats being possibly the most comfortable thing I have ever sat on before. The only thing I did not like was the electronic speedometer cluster, it seemed cheap and not as refined as you would expect to see in a car like this.
Amazing ride and amazing details. As time goes on I'm guessing Mercedes and other manufacturers will refine the DI systems. I find them quite clattery sounding and there are still problems with the intake valves being gunked up with carbon. I was looking into leasing a 2013 C300 but I think I'll go for a CPO 2011 with the older M272.

Mercedes-Benz is Unreliable? I don't know about you, But, like all of Toyota's products, i'm weary of Lexus. Too many Recalls, Too many safety issues. I wouldn't say Mercedes makes a "bad" car, but they are indeed expensive to fix, and to perpetuate the stereotype of Germans over-engineering everything they build to the point of impotent complexity, it indeed would be expensive and difficult to repair a Mercedes-Benz Car.
They're unreliable. I had an S Class. So expensive to fix. If German engineering is "superior," how come their parts aren't built to last??? You would think when you pay a premium for a car you would expect it to last and seldom break. Look at Toyota and Lexus. Cheap parts yet they last. Putting that aside, the Mercedes S Class is indeed a very beautiful car. Maybe later I'll buy one and drop a Toyota engine on it hahahah.

@@crxracer805 the thing is, German cars have high end parts that are not necessarily to last too too long like Toyota while Toyota uses cheap parts that are made to last that’s why their cars are not so expensive. Though a V8 engine from Toyota is not gonna match a Mercedes V8 twin turbo in terms of performance and even handling the power
Great review. Even from computer speakers, the 13-speaker, 590 watt Burmester stereo (standard) sounds impressive. I can only imagine what the upgraded 24-speaker, 1,540 watt stereo sounds like.
I did want to point out (and help you) that the front glass panel of the panoramic roof system DOES in fact slide. It both vents and slides over the fixed rear glass panel.
You review was pretty in-depth, so I'm sure it was just an error.

awesome car but the tail lights are so ugly. and the first thing i would have to do if i purchased this vehicle is to replace that ugly steering wheel. I'm also not a huge fan of the circular air vents across the dash. besides all of that this car is a breakthrough for MB. really nice

the interior is just stunning.
Great video Kyle but I need to correct a few things. The W221 debuted in 2005 not 2007. The sunroof actually does slide open over the rear glass. The COMAND screen has a feature called split view, which lets the passenger watch movie while the driver can only view the sat nav. when the car is in motion. This stereo system is actually the standard Burmester, the 3D Burmester is the upgraded stereo. The keyless entry system is an option, not stand (weird I know in a car that invented it).great vid
