Your demonstrations are so clear and informative, plus lool I've laughed a few times because of your comments! Please keep making the video's if you like doing them, your really helping a lot of people. I think I've bagged myself a new hobbie! Thanks a lot!! :)

      Thanks for your kind words, this is the reason I keep making these videos. I learn and share my knowledge and learn with the people like you together.
      Numerous times people that watch my videos give me an idea for a video or answer a question I have as well or struggle to do.
      I got attacked by some wig makers in the previous months cause I give knowledge that they try to sell, but in my opinion nobody can steal your wig making work cause it is the labor you put into it that sells not the knowledge, unless people want to sell DvDs to teach ventilation etc which in my opinion is ridiculous!

      Your most welcome!! And don't mind those other wig makers! i'm sure they even watched your videos and learned many things they didn't know already!
      Your efforts into these videos are really appreciated, thank you for sharing your knowledge unlike those other selfish wig makers haha! Have a wonderful day! :)

      Super Wig Maker | I know I'm late, but when you tie the hair on.. is it possible to use other things like your fingers, or a different needle? or we just use that needle to sew it in?

    This is the video I have been looking for! All other videos on the subject are filmed so far away from the knots being created and they do them so fast it is impossible to fathom out what is going on! Really appreciate you making this 👍👍👍

    Thank you sweetheart, and the double knots give my nerves as well too. I gave up on them, even the tightest double knots are not worthy for me, they are too big and hideous for me to use them!
    Glad you enjoyed the video :D

    Man - you are fantastic! I used to do this for a living for film/TV and got so tired of crazy clients asking for fully ventilated pieces with impossible deadlines. Sure, the money was great, but the stress of it was impossible to deal with. So now, I do it for a hobby only - and will help performers/artists out w/wigmaking or facial hair pieces when I choose. It's more fun that way and I enjoy it a whole lot more. Keep it up, man - you do beautiful, highly professional quality work!

    • @SuperWigMaker
      @SuperWigMaker  10 років тому +2

      Thanks friend, this is the reason people like me will never enter the industry of wig making cause I am a perfectionist and my work needs like so many more hours than what the commercial wig makers need to finish a unit. I can make a lace-front in like 1 day but I never make lace-fronts, I can make a full lace wig in 1 week if the back is so crudely done, but I want to make everything in good definition.
      So maybe I could work for films and truly high definition units if the money was high. I would will to work 10 hours per day if I was going to get paid 5.000 $ for a perfect piece :P

    • @OnStageOff
      @OnStageOff 10 років тому +1

      You're not too far off - making a truly high-definition wig can net you quite a large sum for sure. Your work is gorgeous, so don't totally dismiss the idea of doing it for money. The best way to approach it is to do it for love and for the perfection of the art and craft. When you do exquisite work (and it it seems that you've got what it takes for that), it is the client that comes to you and not the other way 'round. In the meantime, do it for your love of it and the pursuit of perfection. It will feed your soul, and that's most important. If you ever decide to do it for money, never forget how much you love it.

    • @SuperWigMaker
      @SuperWigMaker  10 років тому +3

      OnStageOff
      Being paid for something you love is the key actually.
      I am a man so I don't really wear wigs to change my style (living in Greece is one more reason).
      But also I have a head full of hair so I don't "need" a piece like some people do.
      So I will make some more HD pieces but since they are not used by me or someone else it just takes away the will to make more.
      Being well paid for your labour of love is what can move things, it is not the money or the amount but the knowledge that someone is admitting your talent and they give you justice for your work by paying for it and making good use of it.
      Maybe one day I make a piece for a movie, that would be a life goal :D

    1.5 knot makes the two returns go in different directions and thus making the area more puffy and have volume. Also with less hair you get "more" coverage. If you have human hair and thus have inevitable short returns this will give the look of back-combed hair without back combing that much.
    The 1.5 non split is the opposite, you take the loop with the needle, at first you grab one return and then both, so one of the return is knotted twice while one only once, they both lay in same direction

      Super Wig Maker I can now see the hook that grabs the hair. The needles I ordered don’t seem to have that as I have bought them from AliExpress 🤦🏾‍♀️🤬 the needles keep getting caught and ripping the lace

    this is as great demonstration. Seems like as long as the knots are not on the perimeter of the wig. you can do the multiple strand technique and it won't be noticeable.

  • @SuperWigMaker
    @SuperWigMaker  11 років тому

    I also ventilate in 90 degrees. The hair actually can go any direction they want along the axis of the nylon part they are ventilated so 90 degrees an change depending whether you want volume or a flat top and the way you brush hair.
    Another thing for tiny knots is the base, if the base has small or big holes but the netting itself is thick (like the thread used to make the netting is thick) then the knots won't be as tight and they can unravel easier.

    I used a permanent marker to make the net this colour. I did this to make it easily seen in the white background cause the original colour is almost ivory white.
    You can remove the colour by using a solution that dissolves the specific marker (I am not sure what substance dissolves this permanent marker though)
    Knot sealer is something like a glue, but it is not very thick, it is rather like water in look and it doesn't leave too much trace behind it. Something like super glue. Glued knots

    I absolutely love your videos, thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. I have been making u-part wigs for the simple fact that when I tried ventilating, I absolutely couldn't make it work (I had a straight needle which was awful) and I wonder if you can tell me a good place to buy Chinese ventilating needles and handles, also the best transparent "fishing line" lace and where to get it. Lastly, can you make, or link me to, a video on how position the lace on the head so the front unfinished edge doesn't unravel? Thanks again you are AWESOME!!

    • @SuperWigMaker
      @SuperWigMaker  9 років тому +4

      Samantha P. Hey girl, for the asian needles I can show you the banbury and postiche site has them but also the amazing hair store.www.amazinghairstore.com/For lace, I think banbury and postiche has more options than amazing hair store. In th first site you get to choose the denier, denier 20 is the finest they have, it is like swiss lace but it is strong enough for its quality.On amazing hair store you can get french equivalent lace in dark brown, brown, and beige which is prefer!~~~~~~~~~~It is easy for you to find which side the lace frays, I can tell you the side that has the faces of the hexagons is fraying, while the side that has the tips of the hexagon's doesn't fray.But go ahead and go to the edge of the lace and slightly pull it, then pull the next side at 90 degrees, one side should fray the other shouldn't. Because not all laces have the same weaving pattern.

    I am in AWE! you are AWESOME and I greatly appreciate you being so giving with your knowledge. I'm a DYI girl myself and you've shed so much light! You may have answered this but, typically how long does it take you to complete a full unit?

    • @SuperWigMaker
      @SuperWigMaker  9 років тому +1

      A full lace unit still depends on how detailed I make it, I could make one in like 2 weeks if I made the top high definition and the back less definition.
      A full high definition unit would take like a month of like 8~10 hours per day.
      Most wig makers just do the hairline in high definition, the top part is in less definition but high enough not to be too chunky and the back is just chunky to save time.
      Of course time is always a personal thing, the faster you ventilate, the better so if you get skilled it could take you even less to make a unit!
      I am just NEVER committed time-wise to work on a unit and finish it on time, I can only estimate it by the hours it takes me to finish one.

    Omg great job! I have the opposite problem.. I can't do single knots... but I can do the double.. (lol) And with the split knot, try to do split+single knot instead of single knot+split. I think they gonna look better. When I do split knot (I don't really use this technic) the hair and the return go in the opposite way and I think that will make more tangles... dont know.

  • @LacePieces
    @LacePieces 11 років тому

    Yes I make them but they loose, don't shed but loose. I think is because they need to be ventilated in a exact direction. I normally ventilate 90º for a more free parting (I really don't know if this works but is how I do). When I receive the lenses I will do a video too.

    Hey Super Wig Maker - great videos! Thanks for doing them. I have never seen the 1.5 split knot done until now. I'm really intrigued with that knot. What is the purpose of that knot? Seems that it gives a smaller knot and softer look w/hair laying in different directions? Would love to know. Also, I'm interested in seeing the 1.5 non-split knot. Hope to see a vid of that one soon. You are amazing and thanks for the vids and your craftsmanship!

    Well I already show the 1.5 split knot here, but there is another version of the 1.5 knot without it being split.
    I should make a video on this one to differentiate the two knots. I think the 1.5 knot that is not split is better than the double knot both because the knot is rather smaller but also because the 1.5 knot has the amazing ability of the single knot to be tightened, but also the amazing ability of the double knot to be very tight and not get lose in time.
    I'll try to make it

    Even if I keep it small and try to pull the hair from inside it still won't happen for me. I am doing something wrong obviously. But I quit trying to learn how to double knot with a needle.
    The only reason I would ever double knot is with a latch hook.
    I never use double knots in the end. I might as well use "inverted" 1.5 knots which is like the split knot without the split effect. In the 1.5 knot you can pull one part to fasten it and you get the tightest knot possible.

    • @SuperWigMaker
      @SuperWigMaker  9 років тому +1

      To be honest I don't remember the size I used, but the size matters only when you are going to ventilate a huge area and you want the needle to automatically pick the amount of strands you want per knot.
      So if you want to ventilate single strand per knot you better work with size 0 or size 1. The needle needs to be the size you planned to use for every specific area.

    I am currently using this method to make a lace wig. My needle keeps catching on the lace when I am trying to knot it. DO you have any tips on how to remedy this?

    I wrap it once, I was told that twice might work. I am so frustrated, I never use double knots anyway and if I have to then it means it is on bulkier lace and with more hair strand and thus am using a latch hook that I can make the double knots as tight as possible.
    You can watch the video where I make double knots perfect here in PART 2:
