I have been vegan since I was 4 my desi grandma took it as a sign that I would never marry and become a hermit. 🤭 She would try to pay me to eat fish. Didn’t work.
Anyone who's gone from eating meat to becoming a vegetarian - kudos to you! I bet it's hard depending on where you live and what people around you eat and think. However, I would like to point out that, although vegetarian diets don't include animal flesh, consuming products derived from animals still contributes to the suffering and death of animals. Dairy products for example, result in prolonged suffering of cows before they are sent to be slaughtered for cheap meat. Eating eggs still results in the killing of millions of male chicks. Vegetarian is a great step forward, but it still doesn't eliminate the suffering and negative environmental impact of animal product consumption.
Point. And we're humans - we'll cause suffering even by going vegan - to process soya, to have it transported etc, etc, etc... it'll STILL damage the environment. Besides, even if we live consciously and recycle, become minimalistic, the handful of powers that be who ARE in a position to really make a difference, won't. So, again, we're screwed. Our very existence is catastrophical. Guess we can try and limit the damage, but not 1 person here on earth can claim to not hurt the environment. Not 1.
@@stevechatha4533 Yeah, I agree that simply by existing, we are going to cause some damage. However, I think it is necessary to reduce the damage as much as we can.

I'm not sure if all vegans are on her side. I'm vegan and I think vegetarians are hypocrites. I know they have good Intentions but the reality is that the egg and dairy industries are just as cruel (if not crueler)as the meat industry.
s k (using eggs as an example) many companies do use cruel ways to acquire eggs from chickens, but many don’t. the egg isn’t even fertilized when you eat them, so i don’t see why it’s even more cruel than eating a live animal
Shreya Bedi all egg laying hens end up being killed. At least in the meat industry the animals live short miserable lives, in the egg and dairy industry animals are exploited for years and then killed. Also the egg you are eating isn’t the full story. The hens that lay eggs are crammed into rows of tiny cages in sheds and “cruelty free”, “free range”, or “organic” does almost nothing for the animals living conditions. Going back further, only female chicks can lay eggs so almost all the male chicks are disposed off (mainly ground up alive).
"I know y'all probably know a lot about me, but there are some things about me that make me different from other late-night hosts, you know? You've probably heard me talk about them before. The Core Difference Vegans eat no animal products, while vegetarians don't eat animals, but may eat products that come from them (such as dairy and eggs). ... Although all vegans tend to follow the same set of clear cut guidelines - eat nothing that came from an animal - there are a few different types of vegetarian diets. Vegetarian does nothing for no one? If the reason for you becoming vegetarian is for the animals then we shouldn’t disregard dairy cows and chickens who are getting abused DAILY...
no its not. cows are still livestock last time i checked. and they help destroy the environment. not to mention that eggs are the only food that immediately give an incredible spike of cholesterol in your blood after consuming it. eating meat for survival is still more natural than drinking another animals tittyjuice. so stop lying to yourself.

@@dharad
Oh, ofcourse, I agree!!!!
I just meant that it's limited what we can do. Plus the decline is inevitable.
Not being negative - it's just how I see it :/
@@stevechatha4533 Oh I get ya, I feel like that sometimes too and it's really frustrating when you keep hearing negative news. I still feel a little optimistic though when I see all the changes people are making.
"Give me the damn chicken" 😂😂😂
“Just give me the chicken” I lost it 😂😂
Let’s do a ‘Lilly Singh vs Preacher Lawson’
(Being vegetarian is rough vs Being vegan is rough)
In my country, no one knows about vegans so I need to explain it every time. It's annoying.
Shout out to my fellow vegan! What country is this?

@@cameronmac8928 That can't be right
Like being vegan is the worst thing in the world... now vegetarians are mocking vegans as well... exactly what the world needed 😂🤦♀️
Good on you for being vegetarian but vegans are on your side girl - no need to tear them down ✌️💚
I'm not sure if all vegans are on her side.
I've honestly gotten the "plants have feelings too" soooo many times 😂
I love watching Lilly grow. A pleasure to watch!
"I know y'all probably know a lot about me, but there are some things about me that make me different from other late-night hosts, you know? You've probably heard me talk about them before. And I'm so thrilled to champion yet another group of underrepresented people in this country. Okay? Because I remember the first time I came out to my friends. As a vegetarian. Oh, you thought I was going to talk about other stuff? Nah."

@@Q_QQ_Q close, Беларусь.

Good show but what’s with the audience laughs
it's canned laughter
I'm a casual vegetarian, at home mostly I cook vege, if eating out I'll just eat anything except beef and lamb.
so you eat vegetarian food sometimes but still omnivore
The Core Difference
Vegans eat no animal products, while vegetarians don't eat animals, but may eat products that come from them (such as dairy and eggs). ... Although all vegans tend to follow the same set of clear cut guidelines - eat nothing that came from an animal - there are a few different types of vegetarian diets.

The laugh behind it sometimes sounds fake.
really.
Yes American television traditionally uses laughing tracks to let people know when it is appropriate to laugh. This dates back to the time when people watched TV in groups. It's so outdated... they should stop it
I feel like Lilly would do so well as a stand-up comedian. She is straight up hilarious and she has great stage presence.
Nope as a skit comedian yes that's what she did for years and got famous, but as a stand up no doesn't look like much.
C’mon nobody finds this hilarious.
It’s okay lily I’m also a vegetarian Indian and people disrespect me that I’m vegetarian and religion.
Mann Pethani why disrespect? Majority of Indian are vegetarians
religious
I just can't stop loving her enough, I'm crying
I am invited to attend an American wedding, and groom texted asking if fish would work as my vegetarian option...?! What's wrong with people? Fish is not vegetarian just because it eats algae! People just don't understand what being vegetarian is in America, such a hard concept to grasp.
Ikr where I come from it’s obvious. Vegetarian= no meat vegan= no animal products and pescatarian= no meat except sea food. Americans just like throwing the words up in the air and see where that land
Came for the vegetarian jokes, stayed for the inside Bi jokes hehe I see you Lily. Kill that dating game! 💘💜💙
Me too! I died at the last.line.
Lilly's getting better and more relaxed as these shows go on! This was superb - bringing her UA-cam vibe to the TV screen - that's what I hoped for - so great! 💛💛💛
lilly talking in that accent about killing plants is so goddamn hilarious
Her monologues are getting funnier each day!!!!
I’m vegetarian!
Love you💕
I'm a Singaporean and man this place is hell for vegetarian options. Like I have to do a a ton of research everytime I go out to a new place in the city
am a vegetarian in singapore too and life is ok lah "hell" is quite an overstatement
@@skyoutofraindrops really meh? Idk leh like I mean fine there will be some places that have ONE veg option but like you can't expect every vegetarian to want to eat that or pay that much for that one meal etc ya know?
@@shivanimehta2037 HAHAHA hmm i think we still have comparable choices or even more choice than our halal pals sometimes. right now my favorite is mala (my fav ingredients are mushrooms, seaweed, lotus root, quail eggs and the token leafy greens) and for daily lunches i rotate chinese caifan, the malay stall, roti prata/thosai, biryani, korean bibimbap, noodles and subway/wokhey. for fancier days there's impossible meat everywhere now (stuff'd is a guilty pleasure and the park bench deli sandwich is to die for) and restaurants/cafes for days.
@@shivanimehta2037 there's even more options if ur open to eating food that chinese people cook with oyster sauce. im ok w it bc im not too strict as long as i dont eat the meat itself. but if ur ok w that too, that opens up a lot of options even at hawker centres. lmk if u need more recs!!
I'm loving the monologues on the show Lilly. They're my favourite part.
I love how she brings up real issues in society but still makes it hilarious. She's awesome 👏👏
When she said "maybe a tomato" I was shook 😂
I am beyond happy that Lilly chose to speak about this topic. People with her degree of influence should use it spread the message like she is doing :*
A vegetarian that doesn't like vegetables.
Honestly Lilly this show keeps getting better and better, sooo great

Hehe being vegetarian in India is so easy 😂
I was a vegetarian for 5 months with no egg consumption. I had milk in my tea or coffee.Everything else was just vegetables. That was the five best pain free period of my life for the last 20 years.I have several fractures resulting in painful back and legs and shoulders.I don't know the science behind this but all my pains went away. Now that I started back eating fish and eggs and chicken all my pains have returned.
I loved this whole skit- but the end got me rolling.
“ [Talking about dating life]..yeah, I’ll eat that”
*fixes suit like a bisexual-female-late-night-show-host with unlimited amounts of sass...adds a smirk remembering she’s getting paid by a MCN*
You're not discriminated against for being vegetarian. It's being vegan that brings on the judgement. Being vegetarian is easy.
That vegan joke was so unoriginal and lazy. Come on, Lilly. You're supposed to step up, not tear other people down.
I completely agree! We are on the same side! Compassion, not cruelty! Go vegan!
Goes vegetarian for ethical and environmental reasons, then makes fun of vegans! No logic.
it's a joke guys 😂 she's making fun of everyone
So relatable ! I really struggle to find something to eat at school because everything is mixed with meat.
But it's honestly the best decision I've ever taken !
Lol! This one was a good one! Brought back memories of those amazing rant videos she used to do. They are the ones (plus her all great qualities of course) that made me a fan in the first place 😉👍🏼
Lilly: "I just murdered Mr. Potatoehead. Like, who am I???"

So she did manage to bring out being bi-sexual in this as well. I was feeling concerned but *phew*, saved at the last second!
take a shot every time lilly says okay lmaooo
Well, being vegetarian is roughage, anyway.
I remember this vibe from her: she was always hammering too hard on the underrepresented thing. Open mic nights are filled w people who talk about their marginalized identity and the brat don’t make it the whole punch line. She made me feel like I was preached too. But she has her moments here
NBC really just censored "mother-effing" smh.
You inspire me queen!😍 I am vegeterian too and people confuse it with vegan sometimes and they ask me things like. "Aren't you killing the plants? Don't the plants deserve to be alive too?" And "how do you survive by only eating salad 24/7?" and I am just like. "Wtf?!" It is so annoying sometimes.🙈
I can’t believe she used the “they’ll tell you!” joke and people actually laughed... hasn’t everyone heard that like twenty times already? :/ come on, Lilly.
Vegetarian does nothing for no one? If the reason for you becoming vegetarian is for the animals then we shouldn’t disregard dairy cows and chickens who are getting abused DAILY...
Her jokes are getting more sexual 😂😂😂😂
she's always been like that lol
1:49 Sorry Lilly, they only think you're funny because someone is holding a sign telling them when to Laugh and Clap.
Lmfao truth
I’ve been a vegetarian since I was a kid and it’s way better than being a vegan
Yeahh
no its not. cows are still livestock last time i checked. and they help destroy the environment. not to mention that eggs are the only food that immediately give an incredible spike of cholesterol in your blood after consuming it. eating meat for survival is still more natural than drinking another animals tittyjuice. so stop lying to yourself.
KaziQster that’s his choice!
If I'm being honest, I don't like the labels for eating and the stereotypes that come with them. Technically I'm vegetarian, but I will eat vegan for a lot of my meals. It is super annoying when people are like, "you're vegetarian!?! That's so stupid! Don't you want to eat meat?" And shoves meat in my face. No, I don't want the meat, that's why I'm vegetarian 🙄
