God I forgot how much I missed having a president that could form coherent thoughts and sentences for more than 20 seconds. It's been two presidents since we had that
obama was a machine of a president and great public speaker. then we have a man over the average lifespan of a human who cant form a coherent sentence.
A healthy looking guy as much as a honest looking individuel. Everything was just so ethical and straight forward. A recent time where federal statements were properly controversial
Love Hasan Minhaj, but frankly I love Obama the way he is. His ability to regulate his emotions is phenomenal. It's part of why he's so extraordinary. I would much rather have somebody who can see the light when everybody else is in darkness.
It is extraordinary. The way he is focused and at full capacity of his brain at any moment, that is an ability that few people share. It makes him trustworthy. And the best thing, it's kind of infectious. He makes people feel at ease. And that state of calm is the only place where good action can come from.
I think he's honestly just a nerd and really put together emotionally. He can handle a lot of situations without panicking. He's just a chill guy. He doesn't need to pop off because he's passionate about something. This is why people love him. He's such a fantastic speaker and he's as cool as a cucumber. Easy going and a vibe.

I'm the same, if I see Obama's name I click on it. He's an interesting person to listen to, funny and very intelligent. Funnily enough, I don't listen to people I don't like.
The smile on Hasan's face when Obama said he was proud of him... pure happiness. That was beautiful and made my day. We all need to hear that sometimes. 💖💖
In other news, absolute climate collapse (and climate migrations) is unfolding before our very eyes but we're far too distracted by wars and millionaire worship.
We all fucking do, and I'm not even in the US. I just saw a video of him and McCain basically respecting eachother in every debate, in every rally. It's sad, especially watching politics now.
@@EnterpriseKnight There's one guy to blame for that and we all know who it is. I miss the civility. Even Bush had manners. If the president can't even be polite, why should anybody else be?

Hasan advertises himself as a comedian and uses biased language to create sensationalism. Obama spent billions on Universal Healthcare when all he needed to do was expand Medicaid. Medicaid is still the state program for poor people that still needs expansion of services and revision after all these years.
Seeing Obama speak casually and crack jokes is so wholesome. No matter what you think about Obama as a president, you can’t deny his character is amazing.
agreed. can't say he was a top tier president (would rank him as one of the best over the past few decades though), but he has undeniable intelligence and charisma. he was still far above many of the politicians we have today.
His ‘character’ is not amazing. His performance skills are amazing. His core values are not admirable. He is not truthful and if you really don’t know how corrupt he is, you simply drank the koolaid. You, too, with the effort, could be charismatic, witty, well-spoken, and charming. He was a C-student. You probably did better in school. And you COULD achieve his skills. But don’t confuse them with true character.
Fake hope and change while bailing out banks and drone bombing third world villagers led to Trump and the constant capitulation of democrats to corporate interest will lead to much worse
Hasan's bright, shiny eyes when Obama says 'I'm really proud of you', and then his nervous gulp when he asks Obama for feedback about his body of work. After giving Obama so much confident and candid feedback during the interview, you can see how much he really admires him. It's so great to see Obama reciprocate that respect by telling him he's doing great and should aim even higher. Beautiful interview.
talk about cult of personality. you people are so brainwashed....you sound like you're about to cry just because Obama breathed. Go outside, Obama is the most criminal president in US History and its not even close...
Brah, thanks for highlighting this segment.. this very exact moment is what lead me to the comment section. Hasan reminds me so much of an old friend I had in high school btw, and it’s sad that I was always so lousy with keeping friends because someone put in my head very early on that friendships come and go and at most time even hurt you. Therefore I always viewed friendships and love relationships too as toxic and that the only thing that mattered in life was the distance I travel in success. Yes, there have been some great successes in my life so far, and I’m 30 now, but what I learned by now is that successes come and go. When President Barack Obama mentioned his dream about grabbing a coffee outside and nobody recognized him and the beauty of peace that came with that.. that’s what I desperately seek for myself. Of course I’m no President Barack Obama, but my path has sure stressed me out in such ways that lead me to feel that I don’t have a life of my own. People like Hasan remind us of who we are, friendships remind us of who we’re supposed to be. I wish I had a friend like Hasan.. and maybe I still do, I just haven’t spoken to him for quite some time.
@@IsaiahJWhite Wow that's a lot to unpack, maybe you also need a little therapy time with Hasan ! For real, hope you find some peace along the way soon 👊
He was also pretty incompetent. I might vote Democrat, but I sure as hell wish we had a president that wasn’t some crazy ass elephant or a lazy ass donkey.
He's pretty charismatic and cool. I'll be honest, I haven't lived through too many presidencies, but I think you could make an argument for Reagan being as charismatic and cool. Both on different parties, but both were very charismatic.
Love him or hate him he's one of the most charismatic speakers to grace the oval office. I can only hope a presidential candidate with a comparable amount of dignity and class shows up again. His willingness to listen to both sides and have an actual respectful discussion is sorely missed.
Definitely charismatic, intelligent and well spoken person. As a president he looked the part and played a good front man. But America didn't do well in his time as the president. His VP was busy selling away the country while he kept quiet. Maybe there wasn't much he could have done about it after all.
Immigrant to the US here. Hasan, I'm so proud of you. You've worked your ass off, have valued integrity over and over, have held people accountable, and have handedly slapped in the face this notion that black and brown immigrants and their families should bow in thanks for a chance at the American dream and be shy about speaking out against injustice or complaining about the government of the country they are now citizens of. I was already active and confident, but you gave me an example of an actually unapologetic person in that arena. This is big and you did it your own way to get there. Great job and thanks for sharing your energy with us 🙏🏾
No one is saying us immigrants should keep our mouths shut. The opposite. What we are saying is we're one of the last groups of people in this country that aren't so down on it 24/7. You say you're an immigrant, which country did you come from? You would know that the US is truly the promised land. The unfettered freedoms, optimistic outlook, culture of excellence, humility, personal independence, and overall shot at re-inventing yourself are why this country is the greatest. As Reagan once said, the US is the last hope of the world. If we lose freedom and prosperity here, there's no where else to turn to. We have a responsibility to continue the American Experiment. And as an immigrant, I could not be more grateful to have the opportunity to do this on a daily basis.
Obama and Biden bombed more countries during their term than any other sitting U.S. President since FDR during World War Two. "Looking back at President Obama’s legacy, the Council on Foreign Relation’s Micah Zenko added up the defense department’s data on airstrikes and made a startling revelation: in 2016 alone, the Obama administration dropped at least 26,171 bombs. This means that every day last year, the US military blasted combatants or civilians overseas with 72 bombs; that’s three bombs every hour, 24 hours a day."
Biden is usually coherent, but he hates the interviews. maybe after his presidency he'd take a few laid back ones, but look at his correspondence dinner -- sure it wasn't all him, but you have to be coherent to hit the notes that well. Even Roy Wood Jr. was like -- how do I follow up -especially since he's stealing my jokes and doing it better than me?!
Obamas political maneuvers may score a 6/10 for me, but there's no denying the man himself is a solid 10/10 in character. A true testament to humanity even beyond the realm of politics.

I totally get what you are saying. BUT, I think that Biden gets a really bad rap, especially from younger people, simply because he is in his golden years and he has a serious speech impediment (that is exacerbated by his age). Biden is not suffering from dementia, he is still sharp and there is a lot to be said for experience and knowledge that someone older who has been in the Senate for many years, was Vice President and handled foreign affairs, and now President and is handling everything he was left with (and it was a steaming pile of 💩) pretty damn well - he is judged really harshly. Yes, I wish he was younger, too. Yes, I wish he spoke more eloquently and didn't mess up his words sometimes or mumble them but he gets things done ( when he isn't blocked by Congress). He has gotten a lot of good things done domestically, some things it will take time to see the effects of still, but they got done and he has done amazing work in strengthening our foreign position with our Ally's (something Trump had nearly, completely destroyed) he all but saved NATO and made it stronger than ever. He is highly respected by our foreign Ally Leader's and even most of our Enemy's Leader's. (Putin talks big but he fears Biden - he never feared Trump because he controlled him, owned him and still does). So am I 100% happy with Biden, of course not - but there has never been a President I have been 100% happy with and I am a 56yr old lifetime Democrat. If it's a choice between Biden re-elected and anyone the Republicans have put forth - I am absolutely voting for Biden. The entire Republican Party has gone off a cliff - they have never done anything for the American People (other than the wealthiest 1% and themselves), they are actually in the business of hurting the American People, destroying the Constitution and trying to force twisted Christian Fundamentalist "values" on the entire Nation and entwining it with Government and even those who are still supposedly "normal' Republicans are all in on the Fascist leaning policy of the current Republican Party that is basically controlled by Trump and it's simply about power, corruption and money - there is no policy whatsoever, other than to crush and control the People. And this Third Party that's being talked about is funded by the same billionaires that back the Christian Fundamentalist Groups and the corrupt Supreme Court Justices and will only take votes away from Democrats, increasing the chance that Trump (or whoever the Republican Nominee ends up being, and that individual and Republican House and Senate Politician's would get elected by default - which would be catastrophic to America), because no Third Party nominee(s) for any office has any chance of winning. They will only take votes from Democrats. It's just another Republican backed ploy to try to win. I really wish the American population was more intelligent, but that's not going to happen and a third of the population is not only completely lacking in intelligence they are absolutely insane, as well. We can only hope that enough of the other two-thirds actually vote and that they vote Blue, or we are screwed as a Country.

I dont wanna be a downer or so. Obama is an intelligent and charismatic guy. Obviously a million times better than Trump. But I cant and wont ever forgive him for being against Bernie Sanders in 2016 and 2020 and instead supporting the DNC favourite each time (Hillary in '16 and Biden in '20). This isnt abojt Bernie Sanders personally, I couldnt care less about him, but about getting someone in the White House who is truly different and progressive and would aggressively fight for progressive and transformative policies like Single-Payer Healthcare and who doesnt take any money from corporations or billionaires. Remember: While Obama is obviously MUCH better than Trump, he still takes money from corporations and billionaires. He is corrupt, albeit much much less than Trump. Bernie Sanders was Americas hope for a truly significant change. And Obama was against him each time and helped elect the DNC favourite. Obama can talk all he wants, sound nice and intelligent and great, but ultimately he is against the change that America (and frankly the whole world) desperately needs. So while I enjoy this interesting interview and Obamas thoughts, I cant and wont ever forget and forgive this. And neither should anyone else. When it actually and truly mattered, Obama backed the corrupt establishment pick (Hillary in '16 & Biden in '20) instead of the people's guy (Bernie Sanders). Please dont take this the wrong way. I also find him reassuring. He makes me feel great and more hopeful. I just cant forgive him for being against Americas only chance for true change in 2016 and 2020. It makes everything he says here sound a bit hollow and frankly a bit out of touch or dishonest
He is as much of a sociopath as Trump he just has more convincing social skills. He will be economically set for the rest of his life while the majority of the public is stuck on the treadmill of the gig economy. Getting money out of politics is not on his agenda and that is all you need to know.

@@mattoucas869 Why do you say Obama bombed Ukraine? Quite the opposite: he made security commitments for the protection of Ukraine. As for Syria, this is also untrue. Obama did wish to respond to Bashar al-Assad's heinous use of chemical weapons on his own people, but was forced to walk away because of the mathematics of Congress at that time, instead he brokered a deal to force Assad to get rid of chemical stockpiles. You can spread misinformation if you like, but people aren't stupid, they can read the facts for themselves.
Keep in mind, Obama's emotional restraint most likely came from knowledge of him being the first African-American president. The stereotype of the "Angry Black Man" is incredibly pervasive, and if he had showed any evidence of even possibly being related to that stereotype, he could have lost everything. I'd argue that when Obama did show genuine emotion, it was productive and subtle (crying for the kids at Sandy Hook, singing Amazing Grace after the shootings in Charleston, dancing with his wife with love in his eyes.) I couldn't ask for anything more than that 🤷♂
Hmmmm. These are wise words. Words of someone who understands that leaders must have guardrails. These are the words of someone epitomizing emotional intelligence. Hmmmm. You remind me of someone who might support a culture of leadership; take responsibility, be glad there's direction, and know we only do it together.
I was going to say, it wasn't until much later in his Presidency he gradually got more emotional. Also, the thing with Trump's "emotional honesty" is that its still more performative than genuine.

I think it's safe to say there are few bright Americans who aren't experiencing new levels of depression and/or anxiety. Life in the U.S. right now feels like a never ending "doom scroll."
It's hard to acknowledge the depth of stupidity in this country. We have so many communities that are siloed from intelligent, educated opinions. They, naturally, grow up steeped in misinformation and grievance. When they leave those communities and are exposed to other ideas, they sometimes evolve in their thinking. This is why the maga movement is now anti- college/university. Education is not their friend.
A lot of crying, drinking, political activism, burrito-ing (the act of rolling oneself into a blanket, burrito style) while binging TV and/or staring into the void. And repeat.
This is exactly why Hassan did the interview, because so many bright progressive Americans are depressed over the current state of the nation and the world.
i'm not sure what you mean by "bright," but the majority of people i speak to feel strong disenchantment with our political state at this time. some are angry, i feel helpless at times and amused at times when i read the news. i've also been humiliated in front of the world since 2016. most of us never saw this coming. i remember i snuck away from work that night and watched the votes come in in realtime, feeling an increasing sense of dread and confusion and betrayal. i watched the rest of the world discuss us like a weird mole they'd found on their leg in the shower. part of me is relieved france is finally getting some attention here so i can check the news and see something different - though my heart breaks for their frustration. if anybody can empathize with them it's us. i also empathized when the uk had all that crap happen in parliament. i was like hey welcome to the club, all we have are stale cheez-its and lukewarm kool-aid. anyway, we take it day by day.

Of course, it's going to take some serious dedication and work to undo all of the harm Trump has done to America. @@TiggerToo27 Helping the country past MAGA is a hard puzzle but it's not, perhaps, unsolvable. I think the first question to ask is why these people are like this. Where do they come from and how have they got here? I won't try a comprehensive answer because I don't know enough. The answer is also certainly different for different people. It might be desperation for some, a rightwing identity for others or a liking for Trump's style. There could be cynicism involved, or fear, insecurity, anger, fatalism, superficiality, hatred, confusion, gullibility, peer pressure, you name it. It could even be calm reasoned argument from fundamentally different principles. People of another mind are not automatically idiots. Try your best to find out what motivations lead people into MAGA. Then ask, "What would it take to help them question their allegiance? Are their minds free, capable of changing in the face of reason? Or are they wedded to their view? Do they centre their very identity around it? If so, a change of mind will be a scary prospect, one they will only consider in the presence of someone they fully trust. It's an open-heart operation, a moment of great vulnerability. If they don't trust you enough because you haven't put in the work to earn it, you're not in a position to change their minds. It may be that they trust only one or two people on Earth enough to be that vulnerable with them. If you want them to trust you, consider why they might not. Do they just hate anyone without a MAGA hat or do they have better reasons? Do you insult or otherwise hurt them? Do you talk down to them? Do you fake it with them? Are you, perhaps, simply a stranger? If you want their trust, try to genuinely love them. There is reason to. You may not find them attractive but they are as mortal and fragile as all of us.

Like, it was so comforting to know that "this too shall pass," and things will get better. We have to make sure things get better. Like, dang Obama, you always know exactly the right things to say.
seriously? you’re crying? it’s an interview. I mean i like obama too but this isn’t even remotely an emotional interview. People describing the shooting in a texas school, or biden talking about his son beau, those are emotional. This was a normal interview maam.
Wow, I've really missed Former President Obama. Listening to him speak so "normally" as an intelligent human being is something I've missed seeing these last few years; a trait few of our current politicians have. It was so wonderful listening to someone of his caliber speak and not have "bullets" coming out of his mouth. Obama's energy is human; that's what I've missed. Hasan Minhaj is fantastic! I loved his energy and his candor. He did a great job!!!
Whenever I see this man in an interview, all my business is over. He is great. He commands his listeners to listen, just by the way he speaks. America was respected during his presidency, all because it had a leader of class.
I don't care how progressive I get, when I listen to Obama sit down and talk, there's never been a time I haven't been able to resonate with his point of view, even if I only agree with a percentage of it. I love him.
I agree. I voted for Obama reluctantly the first time. He seemed to be a continuation of Geo W, just more liberal. i will say Obamacare was the biggest thing to pass Congress in my memory. I'm 62 and started caring about politics when I first paid taxes for working in 1978. The ACA changed lives...and the biggest thing to pass in my lifetime was the Civil rights Act of '65. I was 4.
Him and Hillary have blood on their hands for bombing Libya and empowering the Libyan rebels to kill Gaddafi. At one point Gaddafi gave up and just requested the US to allow him to surrender and leave - they denied him and shortly afterwards the rebels reached him and lynched him. Libya was a country that had free healthcare - now they have open slave markets. And what was the reason for the Obama's military intervention? To protect the US dollar hegemony and prevent Gaddafi from launching his own gold-backed currency. Call me cold-hearted but I could never 'love' someone who does that.
@@VX-cy4duGood people” is an expression. From Merriam-Webster Dictionary: good people noun US, informal + old-fashioned : an honest, helpful, or morally good person Ex: “I like him; he's good people.”

This man changed my life and the life of so many others. I am a DREAMER and I am so thankful to Mr. Obama. He made it possible for me and my husband to purchase a home, get better jobs. To provide a better life for our children. Finally to see our children become University students. To be able to travel with them to see them off, to start the beginning of a beautiful life. On their way to fulfill their destinies! 😭😭 I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for him. Forever grateful. 🥰
I'm Canadian and still I miss him as President..... He has a real talent for making me feel like he has a handle on what's going on. No doubt he was imperfect like any president but from here it seems like he really rose to the challenge. I miss his presence and Michelle's as well. Loved this interview..👍👍👍
I always thought Canadians where like Americans just way smarter. Then my friend in Canada told me there was a pro Trump rally in Toronto! I was so disappointed!
I want interviews like this for political candidates! Imagine being able to tell their genuine personalities instead of show business personalities before giving them power? What a change that might be
We should actually be voting based on their policies, not their genuine personalities. If you hadn't noticed, Obama and Biden have marxist policies that are erroding constitutional rights??!
I’m literally only 1 minute into this but I just wanted to say THIS is how a president talks. This is how that position, a place of power that is so incredibly high up it’s hard to really comprehend when you take a step back. President Obama speaks with such seniority and intelligence while still being incredibly relatable and likeable. You don’t even like the mfs you see nowadays. On both party sides
C'mon, man. Cut me some slack, Jack. That's a triple scoop of grade A malarkey 🍦 Holla at ya boy up in the White Hizzy, where we gettin' Dizzy like Gillespie 🎺
Unfortunately, it almost cost his family. It was a fantastic show. Hasan looks more mature now and he gained some weight. Beena needs to stop feeding him. 😅
I've had the privilege to fairly vote in 6 presidential elections. I chose President Obama TWICE for one simple reason: he and his family inspired me. They inspired me to honor my own and my American values. To be a better person. To go high when they go low (thanks Michelle!). To fight for what's right, even when it's hard. To find ways to compromise if it's for the greater good. We have lots of career politicians that do their very best to represent their constituents (no matter party lines) and I appreciate that. But this is the single president in my voting lifetime who truly inspired me to EXPECT excellence, inclusivity, innovation and integrity in an elected official.
Thanks for those wonderful moments. All I can say is, be like Barack, and you will make the world a better place. Thank you, Hasan and thank you, Barack. We miss our best ever president.
I am from the uk, I thought this man Barack Obama is a truly inspirational man. I have been very taken with interviews I have watched with his wife Michelle Obama. So much so that I have two of her books which will help me look forward to the winter months and the dark early nights. I am equally impressed with this interview here today. What a fascinating interesting inspirational couple and family. They are both calm, concise, focused and each one consider's their answers in a quiet easy to understand and a laid back way. This is a fascinating brillant blog and interview. We can all learn so much about life, how we cope with its challenges by listening to inspirational speakers. Good job.
God I forgot how much I missed having a president that could form coherent thoughts and sentences for more than 20 seconds. It's been two presidents since we had that

The unfettered freedoms, optimistic outlook, culture of excellence, humility, personal independence, and overall shot at re-inventing yourself are why this country is the greatest.

Articulately but at the same time simply, plainly, and honestly.

There is something just so, so comforting and reassuring about President Obama. Forever my President.

YES. I wish there were more of them!

I'm not even an American and my god do I miss this man. Hearing him speak like this again really made me wonder how the bright Americans deal with the political enviroment of today.
The best president the United States had in a long time. Class, eloquence, intelligence, humanity, humor, relatableness, etc. I sense it will be a long time until we see another one like him. Not perfect either, but a high quality public servant.
I completely agree with you. I wish President Obama could run for a third term, with Michelle as his running mate. Of course, it's going to take some serious dedication and work to undo all of the harm Trump has done to America. Sure, Joe Biden has accomplished a lot to counter Trump's damage, but IMO, it will take a politician like Obama to REALLY turn things around. Then again, I don't know HOW any future president can eradicate the idiotic MAGA minions who have poisoned our country's politics.
The antichrist is sure coming back before the end of the age
@@TiggerToo27 you call half the country idiots and then wonder why the politics are still poisoned, its because both groups stoop to the lowest common denominator for politeness and willingness to understand each other in both groups, all while the rich and powerful laugh and rake it in off of us plebs while they control every politician in the country
Except the drugs, blow jobs from guys, murders, and weaponizing agencies. And what he did to the Black community. They still are recovering.

I'm Canadian and still I miss him as President..... He has a real talent for making me feel like he has a handle on what's going on. No doubt he was imperfect like any president but from here it seems like he really rose to the challenge. I miss his presence and Michelle's as well.
Loved this interview..👍👍👍
let's idolize someone who sent the most drones in US history to kill innocent lives in the middle east for the sake of war and power
Very well said
Same I’m Canadian and I miss him too lmao
#FACTS @craftiwench
I always thought Canadians where like Americans just way smarter. Then my friend in Canada told me there was a pro Trump rally in Toronto! I was so disappointed!
I want interviews like this for political candidates! Imagine being able to tell their genuine personalities instead of show business personalities before giving them power? What a change that might be
We should actually be voting based on their policies, not their genuine personalities. If you hadn't noticed, Obama and Biden have marxist policies that are erroding constitutional rights??!
Trump did that in every interview and y’all still complained lol
Nah, he just sold the base what they wanted to get a leg up. Big difference.
@@AlignWithJesus He sure did, he showed us that he's a low-information dishonest dickhead. And that we do not like.
kennedy is your man then
A president with character-- who is compassionate, brilliant, genuine, charismatic---a true patriot and leader ❤🤍💙
and started who knows how many wars 🤣🤣😅
To learn more about Obama's compassion search "Obama Kunduz Hospital 2015"
@@JuanSinMiedo441 because we all believe Trump's claim that would stop the Ukraine war in 24 hours... /s
I loved this, nicely done. Both of you👏
I’m literally only 1 minute into this but I just wanted to say THIS is how a president talks. This is how that position, a place of power that is so incredibly high up it’s hard to really comprehend when you take a step back. President Obama speaks with such seniority and intelligence while still being incredibly relatable and likeable. You don’t even like the mfs you see nowadays. On both party sides
Exactly, I don't agree with him on alot of issues, but we can all appreciate the charisma and eloquence in the man's words
So true, he was a gem to have.
It frustrates me so much for people to argue politics in front of me. It's like they don't see exactly what you just said.
C'mon, man. Cut me some slack, Jack. That's a triple scoop of grade A malarkey 🍦 Holla at ya boy up in the White Hizzy, where we gettin' Dizzy like Gillespie 🎺
Go listen to Jeff Jackson from NC. He has the same thing going and it’s refreshing af.
Tell us what we have to do to get Patriot Act back on the Air because Hasan, you are just an incredible interviewer.
No he’s not, he’s a sycophant playing the role of a co-narcissist in this ‘interview’. He is NoT a serious political commentator,
Unfortunately, it almost cost his family.
Michelle Obama truly is an American hero.
Could not have said that better or more succinctly.

Well said Jessica, well said!
Would love to see Obama back in. He already said Michell would kill him…lol
Thanks for those wonderful moments. All I can say is, be like Barack, and you will make the world a better place. Thank you, Hasan and thank you, Barack. We miss our best ever president.
Literally love this. Couldn't be happier to see these two people together. I LOVE Barack Obama.
Bot!
Do you LOVE that he killed all those innocent people in drone attacks too?
@@FreedomLovin Which president or leader didn't? The entire system is the problem, he and everyone under him included.
@@maschaorsomething they all did but that doesn't excuse him or anyone else.
💯❤️
Good job.
Haven’t seen such a good Obama interview in a long time - it was refreshing. Great job, Hasan!
He made us feel safe. He and Michelle. If only he can return
