Also love it when steam says there are 1560 players playing mordhau and when I get on just then to check there is 128 players on frontline and invasion combined so that's exactly 2 full servers, and only 269 players on all the other gamemodes with many semi empty servers? SO either ranked has a ton of people playing or something is going on?

This was the one of the meta playstyles when the game just took off. Bastard Sword chamber stab morph feint was basically unreadable until people realised the importance of stam over health
New year - another year of being a side character to this guy st0uty. 6'3 cyberspace savant, dropped out of an Oxford theoretical physics scholarship to pubstomp on Mordhau. Shaves his own tonsure to prevent his hair from distracting him. His parry is bound to a button he has to punch with 2000PSI to activate so it's more of a challenge.

I think this video is proof that feints are truly readable. All you need is single-digit ping with fiber internet, a 500 hz monitor, an unholy monster of a pc to keep up with that monitor, and a keyboard with all its keys remapped to 's.' Dragging advocates really need to quit their complaining and just get good.

Last ranked match I played was a gold 5, pressing left and right click, was a literal horde npc, no kicks, feints, not even stabs or lower/uppers. Just nothing, most boring fight I ever had

crazy reads bro wp, not everyone watching knows the skill level here unless they are a true swordplayer. I actually showed this game and chiv to a WoW streamer the other day cause he was talking about how high skill cap of a game WoW is.... and i was telling him he should try a game like this that basically has infinite skill cap and therefore higher than WoW. Dude got so pressed and angry he not only tried making fun of the game while having no argument against its higher skill cap... he also then banned me from his channel. It was actually so funny to me to hear this guy rant about how blocking and swinging in these games is "rng" LMFAO sounded like someone got feint spammed and didnt know what to do xD

The only reason I quit is because the maps were bad/lacking and NA is impossible to play seriously on, resulting in you gambling all your parries even with easy reads because if you hard read too well it just won't go through. Other than that I don't know why people had a problem with the game.

Since you think dragging is more like an exploit, what do you think of Chiv 2's limited dragging VS over dragging in Mord?
dragging is less noticed in Chiv 2 but high level players still utilise them and in a top level duel the combat looks floatier than Mordhau
@@Stouty Interesting. I have never been a dueler boy but enjoy the 1 vs X in team OBJ which seems a bit easier in Mord depending on weapon. I do find dragging very limited in Chiv 2 especailly with overheads and some weapons stabs. 180 stab drags seem close to impossible with some weapons while super easy in others.
There is a lack of the "fancy" drags in Chiv 2 but I drag the shit out of the maul and the slower weapons which a lot of players do not know how to handle when they get rewarded by the gamble spams, jabs and kick combos.
I also think the Mord feints are also more dragable and spamable than Chiv 2 as demonstrated in this video.

Well, arena shooters are outdated and that's why it's a dead genre. Team Fortress 2 is the closest you got to a relatively alive arena shooter style of gameplay. But i'd rather stick with this.

@@StoutyHigh skill floor disallowing new players from getting good at the game because they get stomped by veterans who been playing since the games released. And many mechanics that don't give the game any depth like armor (useless and annoying calculations) and individual weapon ammo boxes (they make players memorize where specific ammo is individually, which there is like 6 to 9 depending on the game).
The genre is dead for a reason and it's not because of lazy devs. They tried everything.
And Quake Champions is still receiving support and making tournaments and yet it's player base is still in decline. And if you say that's because they went for the hero/class-based formula, you got classic mode that removes all that bs.
Nobody wants to pour 3k to 4k hours in a game just to be able to frag a veteran once or twice in a whole match.
@@damsen978 imo it's a mode problem. They need something like goldrush to adapt the gameplay into a 5v5 round based objective that works across all genres
@@StoutyI don't think that would lower the skill floor. Because that's the main reason the genre is dead. I have very little faith for arena shooters, Diabotical was my last hope for a re-vitalization and it never happened.
There should be a mod somewhere that does what you suggested though. Rather for Quake LIVE or whatever arena shooter game. Either way i don't think that would solve the problem. So let's agree to disagree.

I saw a player today who was lvl 615.. he had a score in invasion of 115-20.. seemed a bit sus
what is this one handed malarchy, press q morph same swing, gone are the days of swing manip and classic fw, ducks, crazy swings and shit talk head games. I miss mor before we all decided we needed the optimum setup to compete. randomize weapons in the comp scene, give 10 seconds for a pre round gameplan and let the players use their heads to come to a win.
2:08 on NA most of the players are on US central because each individual region is so dead its easier for everyone to just meet in the middle. that means most players have 60-100 ping which isnt the worst, but it doesnt feel as good as 20-40 ping

@@Stouty So you are just reacting to what you see? Reading a person doesn't mean only seeing what they are doing (in the moment). Reading someone isn't nothing besides reading their true animations and reacting to them, you'd have to look at them or hear them through occlusion and noise all the time. In general at least it is also about reading their next move and the better you are at it, the more steps you can anticipate them doing into the future. You could even be blind or deaf in moments then
I meant predicting in any sense where you know data will fall within a model even though the data isn't seen yet. If you can expect any part of their next moves at all, it will fall under what I meant by prediction. Experiments show humans do it all the time because we have things we so much of things we can go off of without us even knowing it. So I was wondering if you could intuitively predict further than others in turn based or timing based games in general. Are you good at Rock Paper Scissors for instance, or is it only in a more quantized setting rounded to specific animations. It was a research question

Hey I heard you're the best player. I started playing this game recently (30 hours). I come from a fighting game background (masters SF6). Really enjoying Mordhau. I think there is a huge skill ceiling in the game which is why I am interested. I've been doing a lot of research and I think the game has a lot of depth. Anyways, I'm surprised by the comment section. First of all, what is a reader? All I see is your opponent being predictive by spamming a feign before they attack. Now I understand Mordhau doesn't have frame data and that you guys call it "Initiative" or something like that, but if we're looking at this from a frame advantage perspective, technically they should give up their initiative the moment they go into a feign from a parry. As long as you do an accelerated swing after their feign, you should always take the initiative. Worst case scenario is that they parry you swing and you start over again. I do not see an issue with spamming feigns and I actually think it is a good thing considering how generous this game is with stamina. I played For Honor when it first came out and I think you can only feign like 3 times before you get exhausted. Players should be chaining multiple feigns and spending their stamina to open up their opponent or mix them up. My two cents from a silver noob
Not sure exactly what you're asking, try and play without chambering and you'll see what's happening better

@@Stouty no I can’t but that is in my opinion the enjoyment of MO2 footie experience. Learning different morphs for different weapons whether that be defensively (reading it for the parry) or offensively using it on an opponent. Spacing, swing holds, forced blocking, reading an opponents play style to predict what his next morph/swing will be all add to a very rewarding experience. With skill you can decimate multiple oppenents. I implore you to give it a second chance. You would be a great addition to the community.
