Just like my husband. My husband had to knock my son out at 16 and I jumped in it and the fire I saw in his eyes I'll never forget. He said don't you ever get in between me & my son when I'm discipling him ever again, my son had gotten up to 6ft w/ muscles and thought he could cuss his dad out but he found out real quick. Today my son is a 23 yr old Marine vet w/ a 6 figure salary with a wife and building their dream home. He treats his wife like a queen cuz that's what he saw his father do . Now we have a 3yr old grandson and when my husband tells him to do anything he does it. And if I don't like it , I leave the room because I now understand what he's try to accomplish

I will never forget an article I read in Essence Magazine years ago which plainly surmised that the black mother may be the cause of her black son becoming a sorry (nonproductive ) man. Black mothers do not require the same from their sons as their daughters. As a mother of a son I taught my son that the world will not love him like his parents. Though I agree with everything you’ve said I have to admit I have been guilty of this too. Keep bringing these things to our awareness!!

I have noticed this with black women also. Some people say I raise my son too tough. I do not except any excuses from him. I hate how a lot of black men live with their mothers until the age of 30 or how moms give them lavish Christmas gifts when they have bad grades in school.

Actually I work for myself, so I can keep my hairstyle. This only applies when you need to seek employment from others. We need to be encouraging our young men to seek entrepreneurship for better mental health.
The day people advocate for us to change our expression you have a deeper issue. None of these white men impress me, nor do I care to wear a suit, nor tie, as if they make up what the norms of acceptance are for our culture. It's utter nonsense..

That's exactly why these guys are so emotional and in their feelings about everything now..It's really scary but these are the dudes that are quick to shoot another man for something that could have been resolved like men but because there were probably no men around to show them how to be a man and how real men resolve street disputes, they act off emotion, which is taught by their mother because that's all they know..We need more men to stand up for these boys and put some masculinity back into these boys..Please keep it up❤

Unfortunately this society is set up to where men cannot discipline anyone less they be called controlling and abusive. We give (by design) women the right to call the cops on black men for any reason, give them the benefit of the doubt that they did nothing wrong and if they are caught in a lie minimum to no punishment. This country is set up to put men in jail and give women a false sense of superiority and morality, they then obliviously ask rhetorical questions like “why are there no good men” or “why aren’t the men on my level” this has been going on since the ‘70s. Women will always take a deal that benefits them even at the cost of everyone else around them because it’s safe.

If the man is doing right by the boy, then there should be the respect of silence when the man is teaching. Just like the man should be totally silent when the woman is teaching. That's why we got to get educated. I went to college and never did one internship and I played ball and had dreads the entire time.. I was told when I get out of college I would have to cut my hair to get a "corporate" job and I looked the same folks in the eyes and told them I would not do that. I demanded respect for the Engineering degree I EARNED. My hair and appearance played no role in me obtaining my degree. Within 6 months of graduating I got a Federal Government job as a Software Engineer and been here almost 10 years.. So what God has for you he has for you. So maybe the young man blessing that God has for him is bigger than what Rickey envisioned ...

That's where I'm at today. Everybody knows I am back in a lupus flare-up. But talking out the side of their neck because they don't seem to think I need help. The Truth , as sad as it may be, is that they "don't have the want to's!" I help in ministry, to the point of hurting myself from burnout. I'm running around like the Road Runner; without being chased by the Coyote. THAT'S MY FAULT entirely!! I never liked the saying, "you do you". But on my worst day I maintain a sincere heart of kindness and compassion to help others. I find my empathy has me going the extra mile because I love Outreach. But when I need extra hands on deck. I have learned to pray for God's sufficiency to send it by giving me favor with a few good people. Look, sometimes you just straight up need help. No shame about it! I just happen to be more invested in seeing people through God's.eyes .An undeniable gift and calling that I won't let anyone put a damper of negativity on, because they have no vision of their own to follow. You dream killers you. You are deflaters and haters. You know who you are and so does the mercy of God.

Awards for being a good father? We do not know if they are good fathers. We only know of what they have allowed us to see. And if we are going to award men for doing their job, then we must award millions of women for doing their jobs. Now I do agree that women should be quiet when men are raising their kids. Part of our problem is being a single mother for generations, we think we know best....and without a living example we sometimes do not know our places.
