I'm receiving this in 2023! I'm going through all of this. I just had my therapy session today and she told me to put my daughter out and she said there is a video of Rickey Smiley I need you to watch because it's everything you are going through. She sent me this link and I started crying within the first 5 mins and omg the comments let me know I AM NOT ALONE and they give me some peace in knowing that I have to do this but I will have support when I do!!!

My working teenage kids didnt get me anything last year for Christmas. I only asked for a Yankee Candle. A damn candle that cost $30 divided by 4 meaning the only had to pay $6 a piece for my gift. I would spend my entire Christmas bonus on my kids. I woke up Christmas last year expecting something and had nothing under the tree for me. This year I used my Christmas bonus and went on a Christmas cruise. I will be doing the same next year.

You give so much and I am sure, while you spent your Christmas bonus money on your children, you did it with a smile and you felt good inside. This feeling is what caring, loving parents feel, when they do what they do for their children. I am a Social Worker and I work with children in foster care; brought into the system by CPS. Believe me, I have seen children who have been abused and neglected and wish someone cared about them. These foster children would appreciate someone spending "one dollar" on them. Hopefully, one day your children will see the blessing of having you; a loving parent. God bless you and "keep" taking those cruises. You deserve to relax and to be treated well. Take care.

@Amore Beauty sweetheart first let me say I'm so very sorry for your loss. The pain of loss can do a number on our every day life. You are going to have to allow yourself the opportunity to grieve. The only way to get through it, is to go through it, and it is hard. No magic cure or time frame. It hits you in waves sometimes seemingly out of nowhere.
Honey I don't know why you blame yourself but you should not. It is not healthy. You may have some guilt that is normal it's just the way the mind works, but dont blame yourself. Allow yourself to laugh and cry at memories it's therapeautic. Feel what you need to feel just keep walking toward healing.
Now let me say this. My husband did not want to die. The choice was not ours. So you asked how I got through it? My answer is this, I KEEP LIVING. I do what he could not, I live life intentionally, appreciatively, and lovingly. That is my way of honoring him. This is how I keep fighting for myself.

@Erica Moore thanks for such kind words, I lost my only child (daughter in Sept 2013) and its hard for me at times even memories are painful. ironically she once told her mom (who take her death like a stroll in the park) that after she finish college she is not coming back to live with her she is moving far away and do what her dad said; "go start her own family"

I thought I was the only person that dealt with disrespectful grown ass children. I prayed about it and showed each one of them the door! I haven't seen 2 of them in 3 years. I only have contact with 1 son that told me, putting them out was the best thing that I could have done and not to feel guilty, because it made him grow up. It was hard at first, but as the days passed, it got easier. Now I focus on myself and I am happy.

She posts pics and all. 🤦🏾♂I was debating on teaching her a lesson. Then she texts me because she's mad at her brother because they argued over HIS girlfriend. "Fuck him. I don't care if he dies. It's just me and my sister and my mom. They are the only ones who have EVER been there for me. Why don't Men 'protect and provide?' Blah blah blah. Why Keke Palmer has a mean boyfriend" Huh?! She 17. She doesn't know nothing about nothing.🙄 She always switching her views on life because of Social Media videos. So I knew what it was.
Her siblings are jealous that she has a dad that's always there for her. So "Men ain't shyt now?" Yeah..I didn't even say a damn thing for her 18th birthday. A few days later, she posts a pic of her and her mom on Facebook, her whole outfit, cap gown, clothes...everything I bought because her mom didn't have time. "Thank you Mom for being the Mom and Dad for 18 years." Then her mom HEARTS the shyt. I was like..."Yooooo! Ok". I didn't say shyt. Unfriended her. Her mom still wants to be with me too. 🙄 That was enough for me. I could go to her house and check her and she will bow down and start crying and act like we cool. I ain't with it. Still love her but she gotta let Life teach her some things before we reconnect.

I told all 3 of my sons when they got 18 and out of high school that they have to get out of my house. They made plans at 16 and when they got 18 they were gone on their own.
I will admit I'm 23 years old and I have two children. My boyfriend and I live w/ my parents. My mother and I dont get along. This woke me up and I needed to hear this. I need to change and stop making excuses for myself. I feel bad for taking advantage of my situation.

You ought to realize how blessed you are to have parents that can put a roof over your head, and accommodate your 'baggage'. Treat them with respect. Some of us have parents who do not have our backs and cannot help us if we needed it. You have a safety net, don't take them for granted.

This is common these days. Kids are growing up and taking over parents homes…. Many have zero plan to get out and others are returning over and over again. Don’t do anything! Don’t clean or help do anything! Can’t keep folks, spoons, bowls or cups in the house…. Parents are going through things they would not have even done when they were young. They are making choices in life and blaming everyone but themselves when the consequences come. It’s sad. It’s so sad. Good parents don’t want their relationship to be bad with their kids but they push it to that…. They are 25,30, 40, 50 and still on parents back. Parent can’t get a empty house these days. It’s sad. I had to give it to God and let go of my daughter. At 37 I almost had a stroke when my right side went numb from stressing over her not talking to me because of a boy and moving out my house abruptly.
I have a toxic mother, the pain & suffering she inflicted in my life during my childhood is not tolerated in my adult life.

I felt every word of this as a mom of a 20 year old son I had to distance from. I needed my peace and had to have boundaries. It is difficult but I had to give him to God and let him go. I don't wish grieving the loss of a child while they're still alive on anyone.

Wow, wow, wow! You are talking about my situation with my daughter. Everything you said hits home big time! My wife and I lost our beautiful 23 year old three years ago, the one who was special. She worked hard, respected and appreciated us for all we gave her. It ruined us, totally broke our hearts! Right before this happened, our youngest daughter came to us with all sorts of problems, which has caused immeasurable grief. We are held in bondage. We decided to sit her down and have the talk about setting a timeline for getting her ass out! We are just done! Listening to your video has lot a fire under my ass to get this done, because everything you said was spot on, the feeling she is ruining our life, health, etc. She is currently unemployed, but at least she is trying to find a job. She has an opportunity to go back to her old job in March, which pays well and has benefits. It is at this time we will have a serious talk and get her the f..u..c..k out.

I receive this in 2021 both of my daughters 16 and 18 left my home to live with their dad because I won't allow them to disrespect me. My 13 year old son told his sisters all mom do for us I am staying with my momma! I been crying and asking why God I was at every PTA meeting I was at most field trips all games and practices I put on black history programs at my kids school I had them in church every Sunday choir rehearsal dance rehearsal and Bible study and took them out if public school and put them in private school and they haven't spoken to me in 3 months because I told the 16 year old no cell phone until I can trust her ! Her dad bought her a cell phone knowing my rules just to create chaos and it did!! She said that child support is supposed to go on us not to help you pay bills you need to go get a job that hurt me so because I chose to be a stay-at-home Mama married to their dad for 21 years because I wanted to see them do great and they have a generational curse on their family to where all the women dropped out of school had babies in high school I didn't want that curse to fall on them because all I did was work and pay bills and not pay them any attention so we made it work to where I left working in the school system and became a stay-at-home mama the dad has a great job. I haven't bought a name brand pocketbook or been to the hair salon or new shoes and I don't know when but that was the choice I made the sacrifice I made to see my children grow into greatness, and it got to a point to where I needed to leave with my children. I wasn't happy and that's what I did. it also runs on their dad side of the family how they fuss and curse each other and call the police on their mothers and all of that is normal to them but I don't believe in that you're not going to do that in my home! I have peace in the valley in my home but their dad wanted to create chaos in my home and that's what happened and I am really hurt but God is still in control. I have my son who needs me to not stress and stroke out over his sisters. Thank you Rickey for this my son and I we going on a vacation😷✈!!!!

Thank You Rickey! I just turned 50 last week. I left my 23 & 29 year old sons in my old City 2.5 yrs ago. I Moved 5 hrs away from them. . I gave up my 2000 sq ft home to live in under 800 sq feet. I'm living my best life. They call me everyday wanting to move in. Not today. I gave them warnings, get a job or I’m moving. I pulled that uhaul truck up, and told them to pack it and drove off. Love my boys, they are now 25 & 31 working and doing good. The 31 yr old has a daughter now. Sometimes we as parents want to protect these grown kids and we make them lazy and not accountable for their actions. They will be mad, but will get over it and do what they need to do. I too was a teen mother, got married at 19, had 3 more children, went to college, and obtained my teaching license. Thank God he sent my husband when I was young and we are still together 23 years later and married for 20. My eldest son often guilt trips me and makes me feel like a bad mother.
