Love the vid, because of you I ran a PB myself last week I finally broke the 30 min 5K mark after YEARS of chasing it, I haven't seen that time since I was in the military! Simply copying your training protocols and adapting it for myself allowed me to break that barrier. Keep it up Ben
Chatted to you at the expo, I was worried about not meeting my goal due to tense Achilles, but I had no muscle issues, ran a 32min PB and sub 3:15! 😁 Thank you for your inspirational content and I hope that you and your sister enjoyed Seville!
It's always inspirational to watch your videos, Seville was my debut on a marathon, i am running for 1 year now and choose this race, did it in 3:18 but expect to go there next year and smash it, keep up with the good work at your videos.
Really really love the videos, so inspirational from a running perspective as well as from a personal perspective. Really nice mindset and humble person you are, hoping for a small chat at Copenhagen as I am running this as well. Good luck with the training, you're gonna smash it !!!
Great run Ben! Was nice to (briefly) meet you at the start, felt gutted for those guys who decked it at the start in our pen. Not an ideal start to a race.. All the best in the lead up to Copenhagen!
Enjoyed that, Ben. Nice video, well executed as always. Event plan also executed as planned. Well done. No doubt without the stress fracture setback you would have completed the whole distance running the last 12K as a "cool down" or even run even pace for the whole distance. Perhaps next year? From my experience 11/12 weeks is a sufficient gap. Looking back I ran MALTA on FEB 16 '86 (4TH hilly, very windy 2;33) then BRISTOL on APRIL 27 (3rd 2:28) I did do one marathon as a "training run" (2;37) 12 minutes slower than I had run at London (2;25) and did NOT add it to my list but when I totted up and found I'd run 25 I changed my mind and included it! PUMA? There WERE a significant force for road and trail shoes in the '80s but seemed to lose focus over the year whilst, of course, remaining a presence on track & field. As owner of The Complete Runner we have no approach from Puma to bring them back in store. I'm also M.D. of Fastrax so hope to see you in a new Chelmsford vest soon when representing the club. Hope all goes well in your prep for Copenhagen. But perhaps get some shoes nearer the 200gs mark, eh? Terry Lonergan
kudos Ben, in this race Phil Sesemann bagged the olympic qualifying time....by 6 seconds. How tough is the standard set, having to run the third fastest british time ever to qualify
When i saw the video title, my first thought was: "What do you mean sort of?", now I see why you added the parenthesis. Love the vids. All the best for Copenhagen Ben.
Good job Ben. Fantastic pace. Maybe one day I'll be close to that! Running my first marathon Brighton 7th April and hoping for around 3:20-3:30...trainings going well so fingers crossed! Ps. Missing the pod!
Well done Ben and well done sis for spotting you among all those runners ! I'm amazed there were so many runners of your standard, unless a lot of them slowed in the final stages ! 😅
what a mamoth effort in what looked like very hot weather. you make running look so easy. im sure that you can achieve that PB in Copenhagen. also your sister looks so comfable holding and talking to the camera. she did a great job capturing the race while you were running.
Nice run Ben. 👍 You got plenty of coverage running with the lead women when i watched the official replay. I was like there's Benny Boy looking smooth as.😂 Really enjoying your channel, relaxed, down to earth style. Look forward to continually supporting your channel. All the best mate. Cheers! ✌️
I would say big thank you to SEB actually. We have been running together for some times at different distance. Eventually I cramped terribly. He has been super encouraging to me, and at last we had a good hug in the end post-race. Hope I can follow him on Strava later as well.
Loved the video and good memories for me as I was also in that race and managed a PB which I’m hoping gets me a good for age qualification into London 2025. It was also nice to meet you and Ellie at “the mushrooms” . Good luck for Kjøbenhavn and I have no doubt a new PB is on the card. held og lykke 🇩🇰
You are obviously pretty fit at present, Ben. 90% fitness? Clearly, as we all know, getting that last 10% is the hard bit but you do have eleven weeks to work at it. With no further setbacks I would be pretty optimistic about a PB in Copenhagen. Looking forward to the series of videos. Good luck with the training!
excellent videos in youtube, i like as your comment your experiences, you are a winner, you have legs for elite running, i live in seville, and i was seeing the marathon from the people, althoug i am runner, with you learn a little de listening in english, i like your pronuntiation english spoker, ;))), british acent, ben is running, i see better ben in elite running, ;))) win a half marathon as pacer is wonderful ;)))
Hard decision I imagine taking yourself off the course at 30k. I’d be shouting ‘it was my plan all along, I’m fine’ 😂 Very disciplined. A great confidence boost for you going into the Copenhagen build 💪💪
Loved this! you are definitely on a great comeback! a bit random but what non-carbon plated faster, but cushioned(ish) trainer do you recommend? like for progression runs/faster long runs? not a traditional easy shoe but also not a typical "race/interval" shoe?
Hey Ben I'm pretty new to running. Started a couple years ago. I'm really starting to enjoy it this year. I'm running my first 10k on Saturday. I was wondering if you had any training advice to get faster and go for longer distances? Just let me know thanks for your time and videos
I was elated. To be honest, I almost felt i didn't deserve the fitness but looking back at all the cross training- it certainly hasnt been for nothing!
PB over 30km after injury and travel etc.... I think a few grams extra weight aren't as important as how the shoe performs.... The Fast-R looks banging!
You vould have jogged the last 12km and still ran around 2:28 Yoyve definitrly got sub 2:20 in 11 weeks time youll be able to go faster maybe 3:18 per km
I could've but was focused more on banking the training effect and not hampering my training in the coming weeks. Running 42k would have taken alot more out of me than 30 from my experience.

Great to hear, what a story! Keep smashing it
Congrats on breaking 30, I’m on that mission now
Great job 👍
Good job, that´s one of my goals too this year

32-minute PB holy smokes nice job!

2:46 for your mate's debut is pretty nuts
i had the same rough patch at 30km, and also finished in 2:46!
Really really love the videos, so inspirational from a running perspective as well as from a personal perspective. Really nice mindset and humble person you are, hoping for a small chat at Copenhagen as I am running this as well. Good luck with the training, you're gonna smash it !!!
Glad you like them, really appreciate it! Good luck with your training :)

Yeah what an incredible run. What a champ.

Well done Ben! And well done to Ellie for doing a bit of vlogging and being your support!

Absolutely love this city, the tour around the sites was just as good as the marathon itself and what a route the marathon was. Loved it.
Couldn't agree more! Probably one of my favourite cities I've visted!
Watching all the way from South Africa ! Really enjoy all your videos. Keep up the good work 😎
Much appreciated, thank you from the not so sunny UK!

That sounds like Seb, glad you both made it to the finish!
Great vibes here mate! Enjoyed every second and browsing next year's spanish races right now 😅
Well done Ben! Can’t wait for Copenhagen!

Good to bump into you too! Congrats on the PB!
Nice Run Ben !
Fantastic run Ben considering your coming back from injury!! Great vlog, Saville looks a great race to be a part of 👍
Great to you back into it Ben!

Ah, thank you! Thats why i make them- glad you enjoyed it
Great 30k training run. Well done.
Mark my words Ben - I'll be cheering the loudest when you pass the streets of my home town, Copenhagen!
Amazing, congrats Ben!
Great video again Ben your looking good hope the training goes good for your marathon,5stars for your wee sis she was great.
Thanks Tommy, she certainly did a great job!
Its a good day when Ben uploads, love your vids
Thanks mate
one helluva workout, man. cheers!

great vlog ben
Amazing effort Ben well done 👍🏻

Enjoyed the vid with your sister, maybe a good format for more to come? And if you ´ll wear a lighter racing shoe in Copenhagen you smash your PB🎉
We ceratinly had a great trip and a handy plus one with her vlogging skills :)
Hey Ben I'm pretty new to running. Started a couple years ago. I'm really starting to enjoy it this year. I'm running my first 10k on Saturday. I was wondering if you had any training advice to get faster and go for longer distances? Just let me know thanks for your time and videos
Amazing effort, you must be really pleased about the pace after a period of injury. 👍
I was elated. To be honest, I almost felt i didn't deserve the fitness but looking back at all the cross training- it certainly hasnt been for nothing!
Love the video Ben! Keep up the great work mate and good luck to you for your marathon training block and the Copenhagen marathon 😃
What a fun way to get a long run done 🤘
I also put jam into my oatmeal and somehow it always feels wrong.
Man stepping out at 30k was so anticlimatic, I did not expect that!
PB over 30km after injury and travel etc.... I think a few grams extra weight aren't as important as how the shoe performs....
The Fast-R looks banging!
Awesome Ben 😎👍🙌
Ben, where did you stay in Seville for marathon? What would be your recommendation am planning to do my first marathon there next year.
Got those new Fast-R 2s. I'm liking mine so far, but they are a bit narrow.
A little yes but thats how i like a race shoe to fit personally. Maybe you'd get on better with something like the adidas pro 3?
@@BenIsRunning I'm thinking I just need a half size bigger so my toes aren't squished
BenWasRunning
Until 30k 😂
Ben, I know Copenhagen is a PR attempt. In your mind do a time you think could be your ultimate PR?
Awesome vid Ben 👌🏼 sorry bit late to the party
No problem, I was late editing so we can both be excused aha :)
The best runner influencer is back
Nice vid, thx. Nipple chafing wearing a $100+ singlet? Soar apparel prices are upsettingly expensive.
Do you get sponsored those soar singlets? I had a look at their website and they are crazy expensive.
do you still plan to/do cross training in your build up or mainly just running again?
Thumbs up 👍 for the singing performance 😊
aha, I think karaoke should be included in all warm ups :)
The discount at team vaga is no longer available?
I think is awesome that you’re telling us the price of everything so expensive
Looking good for Copenhagen Ben - best of luck with the rest of the training block.
Thank you Geoff
what sunglasses do you wear?
“Give em a boot” had me dying 😂
Don't get in me way ahah
How was the BEER there?
Phil’s barmy army 😂 big up sessemann!
What a hero!!
Ben, I’m sure you’ve covered this multiple time but what size soar vest do you run in?
Small :)
@@BenIsRunning thanks Ben - another great video. Hope the training is going well!
Do the pacers always stop some kilometers before the finish? (or is that only for the fastest group)?
Most of the time yes, often paid to hit say the 30/35k point at a certain pace I believe
great video
Your sis is just darling. Love her. You should feature her in more videos.
Great to see you running and smiling, you'll smash that PB in Copenhagen, no doubt about that
It was hard not to on such a beautiful day in seville!
Was that your first dnf ? 😂
Great running as always 🎉
Yes it was. Won't make a habit of it in the rel thing hopefully!
You are very fit man 😅.... 3:20 per km with a camera 🤳🏼😅...
If you don't run sub 2:20 am not happy 😂 in your next marathon
You vould have jogged the last 12km and still ran around 2:28
Yoyve definitrly got sub 2:20 in 11 weeks time youll be able to go faster maybe 3:18 per km
ELLIE! 😀
Ass-ai-ee bowl.. not akai 🫶
1:21 hahaha definitely how to not pronounce acai bowl😆😆
ahah, i could tell I'd made a pigs ear of that in the edit oppps
Interesting outfit at 10:41
Sexi
But why don't you finish jogging?
I could've but was focused more on banking the training effect and not hampering my training in the coming weeks. Running 42k would have taken alot more out of me than 30 from my experience.
Now I miss my little sister
Can’t fault you’re strategy but what about the medal 😫🤣
I've got plenty of them that don't see the light of day hehe
im terrified of women
👌👊
Pencil neck
Would it be possible to get a shoutout in the next video? Sorry if I’m being a beg 😭
cute sister
