- I made a REAL $1 Wagyu Steak as an experiment to find out if we can save money and make our own wagyu steak at home. We know Japanese wagyu A5 is expensive and also Australian wagyu MS7 if this experiment works we can all save big money and start making amazing steaks at home for only $1! This is how the experiment went.

A better goal would be to try to recreate the Wagyu with cheap ingredients. Like instead of Wagyu fat, just use regular butter, or a mixture of butter and fat. And if you have to make the meat softer with pineapple or whatever, then you may as well. Could also use a smaller injector and inject more parts of the meat to get more evenness in the spread of fat.
Maybe if you do the pineapple marination before adding the fat, the result will be more interesting.
ik its an old comment but likely impossible. wagyu fat can't just simply be substituted for other fats like butter. It imparts its own beefy taste that can't be replicated easily

Flavour Month wagyu fats are really cheap and you can buy them from anywhere that cooks wagyu, for probably about $10 per kg

This video needs a part 2 combining all the successful techniques Guga has explored. Start with an MSG dry rub with guga's spice mix, then cut a pocket into the steak like you were going to stuff it and fill with Wagyu tallow, sous vide in the ultrasonic, and flame finish or finish in a smoker.

How would this “$1 wagyu” compare to a “50¢ wagyu” where butter or tallow was substituted for wagyu fat?
There’s a recipe for fake foie gras pâté that uses chicken livers and lots of butter. The result is pretty good but definitely not the real thing. Somehow I think of that.

I actually very much enjoy eye of round... when it's cooked in my crock pot for 8+ hours. Muscle fibers make much more delicious roasts than fatty cuts.. just not steaks. Still looks delicious.
