I was working in Miami, FL in the early 90s . I would eat lunch at a little Greek restaurant near the airport almost every day. Turns out a lot of police officers ate lunch there as well. One day, I asked the officer sitting next to me some general questions about gun laws in the state and in the city of Miami. We had an interesting conversation, but as he stood up and got ready to leave he said this “ the bottom line in Miami is that if you don’t have a gun you need to get one” . I think that would be good advice for Houston as well!

A long prison sentence will not fix it. someone who runs up on somebody with a gun to Rob them, should be put to death after ID confirmation is confirmed in court. The only time that their life should be considered to be spared is if it is proven they did not act with intent to kill. Otherwise the sentence should be death, if this was the sentence going forward, then it may deter people from thinking about doing these heinous acts in the first place

For those wondering, Attempted Murder is technically Aggravated Robbery, let me explain. In Texas we don’t use the name attempted murder as a charge we use Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon but in this case the motive for the robbers was to Carjack/Rob the woman at gun point and they shot in her direction so under the umbrella of Aggravated robbery it covers the Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and adds the motive of Robbery as well. They might not sound harsh but Aggravated Robbery is a First Degree Felony in Texas and can carry a Prison sentence of 5-99 years. Now if they would have killed her then it turns into Capital Murder (Highest charge in the state of Texas) because they committed Murder while committing another Felony (Agg Robbery). In these type of situations, I would like to think if you decided to use your car to run over these criminals (after seeing them attempt an attack) that any charges thrown at you would be dropped but knowing how you can’t trust the justice system (especially depending on which city and state) as much anymore, I’d be like the white car and just reverse away from the criminals. I work nights at a gas station in CT, it's getting like that here. Actually, this seemed very personal. She may be involved in certain things herself or people close to her may be involved in certain things and she might have not gone anywhere near a police facility. Do you know how many "home invasions" are not reported because they are drug/human trafficking related? This could be a similar situation but on the street instead of a residence. They could all be a part of the same game. We'll know more if she went to the police and made out a report. If there is no follow up story or a police report then this will be something criminal and probably personal.

I was working in Miami, FL in the early 90s . I would eat lunch at a little Greek restaurant near the airport almost every day. Turns out a lot of police officers ate lunch there as well. One day, I asked the officer sitting next to me some general questions about gun laws in the state and in the city of Miami. We had an interesting conversation, but as he stood up and got ready to leave he said this “ the bottom line in Miami is that if you don’t have a gun you need to get one” . I think that would be good advice for Houston as well!

A long prison sentence will not fix it. someone who runs up on somebody with a gun to Rob them, should be put to death after ID confirmation is confirmed in court. The only time that their life should be considered to be spared is if it is proven they did not act with intent to kill. Otherwise the sentence should be death, if this was the sentence going forward, then it may deter people from thinking about doing these heinous acts in the first place

For those wondering, Attempted Murder is technically Aggravated Robbery, let me explain. In Texas we don’t use the name attempted murder as a charge we use Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon but in this case the motive for the robbers was to Carjack/Rob the woman at gun point and they shot in her direction so under the umbrella of Aggravated robbery it covers the Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and adds the motive of Robbery as well. They might not sound harsh but Aggravated Robbery is a First Degree Felony in Texas and can carry a Prison sentence of 5-99 years. Now if they would have killed her then it turns into Capital Murder (Highest charge in the state of Texas) because they committed Murder while committing another Felony (Agg Robbery). In these type of situations, I would like to think if you decided to use your car to run over these criminals (after seeing them attempt an attack) that any charges thrown at you would be dropped but knowing how you can’t trust the justice system (especially depending on which city and state) as much anymore, I’d be like the white car and just reverse away from the criminals. It’s sad how criminals have gotten embolden in the last few years while average day citizens have become scared to even help.
If common citizens can do justice by killing and not have homicide charges, more people would be encouraged to intervene. And while this idea might sound good, it will question the existence of the police.
