I'm late to the party, but there are three bolts that hold on another pulley right beside the alternator, they are torx bolts, it's a 6 pointed star pattern.

Why take off the tensioner pulleys? They don't interfere with the alternator removal.
Some models you do have to remove it
Vw are pain in the a .. you have to take everything off to get an alternator off
It’s a 5 cylinder that’s why, no room
