I really want to encourage you. You have a unique way of teaching. U manage to give instruction in a very relaxing way . Im now encouraged to pick up a brush and follow your instruction. Thankyou.
I found you and fell in love. Thank you for your tutorials. I am unable to belong to your monthly clubs....73 and living on SS and I am ok with that. I just wanted to share that your tutorials are fabulous (wow haven’t used that word in a long time ) Lolol I just started to paint and am loving it .....mistakes and all. Takes me away from the daily lonely! Thanks to you! Keep it going!
Thank you so much, Marcia! That means so much to me to hear. I hope you continue to paint, learn, and enjoy. I hope you can stop by during our live events on Tuesdays so you can chat with me and everyone else! ♥♥♥
Marcia - Your comment touched my heart. I too am in my 70's and can relate to the "daily lonely." Jane's videos are not only informative and educational, but her soothing voice and choice of music make me want to paint. Thank you for your honesty.
I watch you almost every day. I’m 67, never painted in my life but I’ve done a few of yours! I love your style! I will do this winter flower one over the weekend 😊
Hi Jane, Whenever I watch your step by step tutorial, I can't stop following you and your lesson. Love you so much and trying to get relaxing drawing as you suggested. 🙏 😊thank you so much
Yes!!!! I lôve painting for relaxation....I have twin autistic boys and we actually watch you in the evenings for relaxation too.....there sure is something good about painting
This the second painting I've completed with your tutorials, although I've viewed so many of your videos. I started watching this painting yesterday and immediately fell in love with the painting. It's difficult to find a painting I want to try. The first of yours took me weeks, the rainy day window. I had many things get in the way of its completion. I tried watching other painters on UA-cam, but none are as relaxing and enjoyable as yours. I like that you don't rush through, yet you finish the painting around the one hour point. I like that my painting isn't quite like yours - that's what makes us different. The world would be boring if we were all alike in everything we do.
The worst thing that could happen if I dont like my painting, simple..... just paint over it or try to fix what I'm not liking! Glad you're back Ms. Jane!
I was having quite a serious medical issues and I saw this painting come up during that time. I fell in love right away. I just watched the video and I'm going to do it on a 10x20 canvas . Omg Buddha is next. I paint because,I must. I did my first tutorial with you and started painting from there . You are my favorite. Well I am past the worst part of my issue and have started back painting. I have to get used to doing it when I am not alone. I must paint. I will watch you forever and love all your videos. Thank you so much for doing this for us Jane
@@PaintingwithJane I am! You are helping! I have a question...I put it in the forum and on fb I'll copy it here . I've used cloud brushes before, but for the background of this tutorial I have some questions. First of all I can see a lot of the texture of the canvas. My brushes were very dry. It is a background and I don't have to fuss over it. It's dry now. I wonder about adding to it but not sure if Ill regret it. I see some tiny white squares of canvas, but I know for some paintings Jane has said it's fine to leave them.
Thanks you for your encouraging words and approach to painting. I took an Art Appreciate class years ago to fulfill my fine arts credit and we were required to complete a few painting, but that was the end of it for me, until recently. I am using painting as a form of therapy, and yes, I battle with perfectionism but I am learning to overcome it! I am so glad to hear you will be continuing to focus on art as therapy. Again thank you for your encouraging instructions and guidance, you are truly a blessing!!!
I paint for many reasons: To destress, for gifts, to decorate my home and just for fun. This lesson was so peaceful to watch and you have a lovely caring voice. Thanks so much.
I was so scared to even begin this painting. With blending and thinnest branches...And to my immense surprise i did it. It makes me realize that painting is a hard labor. But it is such a pleasure when you've done it and not scared of your painting in the end. Thank you, Jane, for understanding and finding right words. It is very helpful.
Olga, I love to hear that so much!!! I'm so proud of you for going for it, even if you were afraid. Whenever you push yourself forward like that, you learn so much and gain confidence, both of which follow you into your next painting ♥
I love everything about this tutorial which i have only just discovered. A late starter at 73, i was so inspired for a year but then, for some reason, i lost interest. Now three years later this has definitely got me wanting to get my paints out again. Thank you so much Jane - from New Zealand. I love the peacefulness, your guidance on paint, strokes, everything and the meditational feel of the whole tutorial.
I just started therapy in the past few months and it was suggested that I try painting to help me with my stress, I love it when I find something that I think I might be able to keep up with and do. I have gone back and started with some of your first paintings. I love the tone of your voice and I love the way you teach. I never feel like I did anything wrong even when my painting doesn't come out looking near as good as yours. I just enjoy the time I have spent with you and I am usually happy with my version of your art. :) Thank you for doing this it really means a lot to me and I always look forward to what is next.
After losing my independence to anxiety and panic attacks, I found myself becoming a hermit but still find it hard in crowds of ppl. All started when my father passed back in 2010. I ended up in intensive care last oct and haven’t painted since it’s like l’ve lost my mojo but am hoping to regain that and get back to my art therapy ASAP. Hey Jane, I missed this live but watching now. Clouds are difficult for me. You give such good details explaining everything you do. I've started painting recently for relaxation. I first started when I was 20 but with toddlers it didn't last long. So 40 years later here i am again. I love watching you and learning from you! Loving this painting!! Thank you for doing these tutorials.
The magic of Gesso. Most of the time I don't even sand it well between coats. Let it dry and find something else to paint on that canvas. Learning to paint is almost a joy. Each time I see something else I'm doing that I actually like .
As always, I enjoyed this tutorial and tried it on a glass jar! I used mostly enamels in similar colors! Of course, I have a long way to go! Your videos evoke so much emotion in me. I’ve never painted anything in my life, but you make me feel like I could. I recently entered my 40’s with an overwhelming desire to CREATE, after telling myself for my entire life that I was not “a creative type”. I think it was always just a fear of trying something new and not being good at it, and “wasting my time”. My entire perspective has now shifted on that. At some point soon I will be picking up a paintbrush for the first time, and I will be starting my journey with your videos to guide me! Thank you
I'm SO excited for you!!!!!! Making the decision to just go for it is the hardest part. Please enjoy every moment and every lesson learned. Don't let yourself get frustrated to the point of giving up. Just remember to be patient with yourself and enjoy every single brushstroke
Beautiful to watch, and to relax, painting is the best therapy there is! , so peaceful to watch those peaceful moments with your meditation 🧘♂️ music, after you are explaining the technique to everyone! Thank you Jane!! You are helping so many people out there, and I love that! I have been mainly a landscape oil artist for most of my life, but branching out with other methods too! ❤️😉👏🏻
I wish you all the the best in the new year, tons of happiness, joy and health. I'll start my painting year with you and I'm sure I'll end it in the same way. Thank you for your art and your willingness to share it with us. Hugs !
I paint to mentally escape from a stressful job. When I paint I feel like it’s a form of communication with myself. I am often surprised at the results - even the “mistakes” are meaningful so I don’t ever feel frustrated with paint. If I don’t like how a whole painting comes out, I sometimes cut the canvas or board into pieces and rearrange them or use them in another project. Thank you Jane - I have learned so much from your videos!
Love this painting Jane! Thank you! I paint because it helps keep my mind active and I enjoy the process plus your approach makes me feel like I can do this too! I can't think of one of your paintings that I do not love, I have not done all of them but love all of them. I like your style and wish you the best in the New Year!
Love your zen technique...you have taught me so much about blending...and having your brushes really help...I've done quite a few foggy scenes with them.. For the minimalistic look of the painting...it has oodles of depth... Thanks
Thank you for your ongoing teaching and encouragement. Painting offers so many possibilities and those who find it taxing, overly frustrating, stressful might need to try multiple forms of painting before they find one that suits. If one style doesn't make you happy, try something else.
Can't wait! Finally getting back into painting since Hurricane Michael. I lost all of my supplies but I ordered some of your brushes today so I will watch this and attempt it when my brushes come in.
The same story here. My son lost his wife of fifteen yers to anorexia. It was five yers of a nightmare. The only thing that kept me sane was a painting. And I found Jane!
Painting with Jane thank you for that!! Thank you for being so calming and supportive. I enjoy your tutorials so much and I have been watching them for a few years now and you have grown and I have grown along side you so thank you for what you do.
If l get tired or frustrated l walk away and go and have a cup of tea or leave it until next morning if its late. Nine times out of ten, l like it when l go back. I paint because l love it, sometimes they are not what l expected and l look at it as a lesson of what l wont do next time. Its a wonderful experience.
Hi Jane , I watched this again and you asked why do you want to paint, I thought i would answer right away while i thought about it Why, I have a problem sleeping, since my husband passed away, I never will be a great artist and that okay with me but what I want to know is technique ,I watch you at all hours of the night and I feel you are helping me to relax by showing me how to paint and I am improving because of you,, I even went out and bought a spa cd, because I hear it in the background, I love to paint because of the end result makes me happy..L
Oh, Linda ♥♥♥ I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, but I'm so glad you've found something to help you feel a little better. I would love to see what you're working on. Are you on Instagram? If so, find me @painting_with_jane, if you haven't already ♥♥
Hi, Jane Happy New year, I am very happy to see you, I love this painting, it is peaceful, and I'm going to try to follow you along and try painting this. I also will practice buds, leaves and to tiptoe, Your a wonderful teacher, I like your hair,,,, Linda,
At first I wish you a great New Year, Jane. Thank you for another fantastic and beautiful tutorial that you teach so well and peaceful. It's very good to our minds. Your colour are amazing. Thanks to be such a kind person. This is one that I'm gonna try to paint. :)
Hi Jane. Thank you so much for the tutorial. I’m literally brand new to painting so my biggest fear about not being happy with my efforts is that I will waste a canvas and more importantly lose confidence to try again. I took up painting as a challenge and to relax as I have recently retired x
Well, no need to be afraid of wasting a canvas, because you literally CAN'T waste a canvas! If you don't like what you painted, paint over it 😁 I paint over things constantly! Just remember, you took up painting to relax. Don't don't let anything take that away from you!
Painting with Jane Oh Jane thanks very much for the encouragement. Your tutorials are relaxing enough just to watch so if I never pick up a brush again at least I have enjoyed all you’re sharing. I won’t give up yet though. I’ve just started your owl painting and I’m very pleased with the results so far. Thanks again for the inspiration xx
I'm in shock I started a painting about 2 weeks ago (It's not finished I'm learning to take my time before I would get frustrated if I made a mistake and mess up the painting trying to fix it) what's so surprising to me is my sky/clouds are almost the same color as your painting !! I shouldn't really be surprised you are our teacher ; ) I paint because I love it the world disappears as I created a new.
I had a hip surgery that wasnt nirmal, my husband had a breakdown at the same time. I took up painting, it helped me sooo so much, it took my troubled mind into another world, hours went by without me thinking if anything except creation. I love it.
Love watch your painting learned some tips from you and few others. I just discovered that I have talent in painting but not as good as usual and others I will do better and better thanks for making videos of painting. 👍🏻🖼🎨
Oh not paint related but I love your hair !!!! Should try lavender. Lol. I think I said that back when I first found you online. I can’t wait to try this painting tho. Once I can stand and sit long enough

I paint because I love color, the brush in my hand, the feel of the paint on the canvas. I can’t explain it.. there is something inside that has to get out creatively. I hope that makes sense.. lol

Relaxin in your voice jane , I need to put you on when I can't sleep lol ... but kidding aside this was a beautiful tutorial
I am painting this today. Kerrie and I have decided to have paint dates a couple times a month to make me paint. I miss it. And I miss you! ❤
I miss you too, friend. I can't wait to see what you ladies do
Beautiful painting, relaxing music and beautiful you! Happy New Year and thank you for your wonderful tutorials.
Thank you so much, Nella! Happy New Year to you too!!
Thanks Jane!!
You're so welcome! Thank you, Charlotte
Wonderful answers, Christine!!! ♥♥
I've really missed you, pleased your back, hope you had a good break.

Nice to have you back! Happy New Year!
Thank you so much, Judy! Happy New Year to you too!! :D
Thank you.
I’ve actually started a painting, realized it wasn’t what I wanted it to look like… gesso, dry, and start over 😊
Hi, Jane Happy New year, I am very happy to see you, I love this painting, it is peaceful, and I'm going to try to follow you along and try painting this. I also will practice buds, leaves and to tiptoe, Your a wonderful teacher, I like your hair,,,, Linda,
Thank you so much, friend. Happy New Year to you, too. Go get practicing!! ♥
Love the colors
At first I wish you a great New Year, Jane. Thank you for another fantastic and beautiful tutorial that you teach so well and peaceful. It's very good to our minds. Your colour are amazing. Thanks to be such a kind person. This is one that I'm gonna try to paint. :)
Thank you so much, friend! I hope you have such a peaceful and enjoyable time ♥
Lovely!!!!!Awesomeeeeeee!!!!!!!
Hi Jane. Thank you so much for the tutorial. I’m literally brand new to painting so my biggest fear about not
being happy with my efforts is that I will waste a canvas and more importantly lose confidence to try again.
So beautiful....I look your video and I'm total relax....thank you 😚
You're so welcome, Bri! Thank you
Lol I'm that "one" 😁🐦💙💙💙💙💙this is sooo relaxing.... So beautiful...
LOL, Karin!! Thank you so much
I'm in shock I started a painting about 2 weeks ago (It's not finished I'm learning to take my time before I would get frustrated if I made a mistake and mess up the painting trying to fix it) what's so surprising to me is my sky/clouds are almost the same color as your painting !! I shouldn't really be surprised you are our teacher ; ) I paint because I love it the world disappears as I created a new.
Aaaaw, sounds like you have a beautiful sky going!! I would love to see when you're done!!
WOW...this is beautiful! 😊
Thank you, Isabella!!
I PAINT TO KEEP MY MIND FROM WORRYING ABOUT THINGS...PAINTING IS BETTER THAN A THERAPIST!!
I agree 100%!!!!!!
I had a hip surgery that wasnt nirmal, my husband had a breakdown at the same time.
I took up painting, it helped me sooo so much, it took my troubled mind into another world, hours went by without me thinking if anything except creation. I love it.
Beautiful
Thank you!!
Very lovely
Thank you so much
I love this
Thank you, Debra!!

Oh not paint related but I love your hair !!!! Should try lavender. Lol. I think I said that back when I first found you online. I can’t wait to try this painting tho. Once I can stand and sit long enough
Hehe, thank you, Heather!!! I hope you get feeling better soon ♥
Jane, what brush would you use if you don't have cloud brushes?
If I made a painting I created that I don’t like as much well I give it to someone and they usually enjoy my Art creations!!
Lovely 💕

I paint because I love color, the brush in my hand, the feel of the paint on the canvas. I can’t explain it.. there is something inside that has to get out creatively. I hope that makes sense.. lol
Yes!!! It makes complete sense to me!!
