I don't see what people aren't understanding. The rules of The Force have changed. Near if not everyone has some potential with The Force in new canon.
They've pretty explicitly stated that everyone has different potentials in power, but all life is Connected and therefor can access The Force to varying degrees.
IMO the change makes sense with how the Living Force works.

The way I see it, Sabine was able to wield the Force through duress, when she reached out to her light saber. But yeah, once she reunited with Ezra, her mind was at ease. And she was able to wield the Force.

In my opinion, Force users will sometimes leak the ability, doing things subconsciously, but in Sabine’s case, she didn’t really show anything overtly. However, anyone who isn’t trained may leak Force ability, but will never go beyond that. Sabine got some training and was then put into a situation similar to what Luke Skywalker experienced. Remember, Luke couldn’t consciously control the Force until TESB when he was hanging upside down in the Wampa cave about to be eaten. The life or death situation put both Sabine and Luke into a position where they had to Force grab their lightsaber or die. Luke managed it and Sabine did as well in identical manner. First nothing, then a slight wiggle, and then the lightsaber jumped to them. Like a key in a lock, they have to do it the first time in order to consciously control the Force. That’s what convinced Sabine she could do it. It wasn’t a great attempt since Ezra still almost plunged to the ground, but it was just enough of a boost, combined with Ezra’s own Force jump. Once a Force user does that first overt act, it’s unlocked forever.

@@anthonychurch1567Actually, Kanan did hint at Sabine's potential and quoted that "she's blocked... she's just so.. Mandalorian!" It was Hera who questioned Sabine even having Force powers. I think her getting over the mental blocks and finding the force ability with the saber pull made perfect sense. Once that happened, I also think it makes sense that in a moment of great need, she knows that force push is possible because she's seen Kanan and Ezra do it many times, so she trusts in the force. She was always smart and adaptable, so once she attained the ability to use the force, she would adapt to it fast.

  • @brettmanus7904

I think it was obvious that both Kanan and Ahsoka could see that Sabine had the potential. Now that Ahsoka has subdued her personal hurdles, and made peace with Sabine, Sabine is able to open herself to it. Then add in being with Ezra, and in a DEFINITE adrenaline situation, and she was able to accomplish things she had seen plenty of times. The force push-pull was practically a Kanan-Ezra trademark. Sabine is completely familiar with it. She isn't witnessing force abilities in total disbelieving awe like most would be. Therefore, I have no hangups with Sabine using the force. I find it utterly hilarious that fans don't bat an eyelash at repulsorlift technology or travelling to distant star systems in the blink of an eye, but lose your shit because a character you were comfortable with was changed. Come on, people. Get a grip.

Its about standards and breaking immersion.
If the standard is you need training and practice to do a thing... then suddenly someone comes along, uses the force for the first time and successfully does multiple things with it... your immersion into the fiction is jarringly broken.
Consistency builds universes. Inconsistency breaks them.
I'd have had no issue with the lightsaber pull - its the go to thing for first time force users and she struggled and was under pressure etc etc... the nuanced thing they could have done would be for her to be surprised by it (because shes not done it before) and then at the very end of the episode... you have a scene of her practicing and succeeding in moving the cup which shed been unable to move in the prior episode. Setup and payoff.

I was coaching my wife in scrabble, and simply told her, "think of it as a math game that uses words to score instead of just a word game" and the very next game she doubled her score. I have said the same thing to other friends and it did not land. That Sabine connected with the force in a way we have not seen before doesn't break a universe. It introduces a new experience to that universe. Allow characters to be unique and have unique experiences just like in the actual real world.

It takes talented Jedi like Anakin and Doki years, decades, in a temple designed for nothing but training as a Jedi which takes as Qui gin out it “the most serious commitment “ to achieve the level of strength and precision in the Force Sabine managed within less than 5 minutes of grabbing the lightsaber. Now the force is something one can just casually dabble in and become proficient and apparently that stands for any random person.

I think that Sabine seeing a hint of Anakin at the end was a subtle hint that he helped her with the force push to give her the confidence she needed. I totally agree with you in regards to the Force Push. If she can readily use the force to that capacity, almost immediately after accessing it for the first time, then I think we’ve lost any learning arc that is necessary. Grogu was with Luke for 2 years learning before returning to Dyn Jarron, Padawans at the Temple learn at the temple for years before even being considered for knighthood. Even with training in Force Push, I didn’t like that she was absolutely positive that she would be successful, I mean, she had no doubts about using a power that she’s never used before, risking Ezra’s life. It was too much too soon too fast.

    • @Cabolt44
      @Cabolt44 Рік тому

You just answered your own problems with it bud. She had "no doubts" and because she didn't (and she was also electric from her sudden use of the Force), she knew she could do it. As Yoda always said: "Do or do not, there is no try" or to translate, "you just got to believe you can do it, for it to even be possible to do it. Being negative only hinders your ability to do it." Yes, it's cheesy, but it works.

    • @Chessmadcrasher
      @Chessmadcrasher Рік тому

@@Cabolt44 no bud, it doesn’t answer my issues with her ability to Force Push Ezra across a giant gap without ever Force Pushing before in her life and only being able to access the force a few minutes earlier. Most other padawans need to train for years, in several different disciplines to be come adept enough to do them proficiently, and no Jedi is adept at every discipline or can even do everything in the force. How did she even know she could Force Push or even have the ability? She couldn’t have known. Also, according to Huyang, she would be the worst Padawan in the history of the Jedi temple, but she learns 100x faster? Doesn’t make sense at all. She has no master for several years, no training for at least three long, fails to push a tea cup, then Force pushes Ezra, because now she believes.
      Seems legit.
If that was the case, why even have padawans? With your logic, as soon as they feel like they can use the force, they should all be Jedis. That’s ridiculous.
And you misinterpret Yoda. “Do or do not, there is no try” doesn’t mean that if you have faith in yourself, you can do it. It means that either you succeed or you fail, effort is meaningless in failure. Get it done or don’t get it done.
Even though Yoda is a muppet, he’s not giving lessons in self esteem to Luke in a Dagoba swamp. He’s telling him to toughen up. Do it, don’t just attempt it.
Even though most of this series was amazing. The lack of learning arc for Sabine in her use of the Force is lazy writing, pushed into 3 minutes of the final episode of a season that could have used 2 more episodes. More history of Ezra and the Noti, he was there for what? 9 years? Enough time to grow an epic beard and learn a whole new language and Sabines growth into becoming a Jedi

I agree with you complety. The saber grab felt earned and I cheered for her. But the force push, while not totally unreasonable, was a bit too much for me. Not to the point where I’m super angry over it like some fans are, but enough where I waslike OK let’s take a step back. In the context of other jedi and other powers what she did wasn’t that OP. But with how they set it up, meaning a character with fairly low force potential finally being able to tap into the force, it felt like a bit too much too quickly. Granted maybe it was just because she was in the middle of combat which is a scenario she’s very comfortable with being a Mando and a Rebel. But I’m not sure. But I’m still interested to see where her arc goes from here. As long as she doesn’t become the next super OP force user and continues to use her skills she gained through her Mandalorian training, I’m OK with her using the force sometimes. And as yoi said with Thrawn returning to the known galaxy and the other remnants, it makes sense for Ahsoka to take Sabine on and help her unlock her force potential. I also just remembered something else. Bo is part of house Viszla too if I’m not mistaken. Though that might be politically rather than through blood. But it does make me think. Dear god if she’s made force sensitive I’m walking away. Like I said it makes some sense for Sabine even if she doesn’t strictly need it. It’s still a useful tool in her arsenal. But I wouldn’t accept it with anyone else.

My thoughts were that Sabine was in the perfect situation to finally allow herself to use the force. Can you imagine the adrenaline she would be dealing with on that day? Reconnecting with her Master, alongside her best friend, literal life and death moments! It never mattered so much in that exact moment that she pulled the saber, it was either die or force grab it. When it worked she had the confidence and the mental fortitude to do that force push. I think if she had to do it the next day though, she shouldn't be able to. She has to train, and continue to unlock her connection to the force. But she has the self confidence now to make it work.

I personally think it's essential that she can use the force to some degree to have ever been able to EFFECTIVELY use a lightsaber, as qui gon said something like being able to sense where a blaster bolt is going to be is essential for being able to block/deflect them.
The idea that she or anyone can reliably deflect blaster bolts without the force is ridiculous. (Most people can't even hitting a baseball with a bat, and that's a slow object with a relatively predictable flight path! And they get 4 tries. You miss a blaster bolt ONCE and your dead)
The force push I would have liked them set it up a little more, but I don't hate it. At that point she was fully in the zone and it was Ezra depending on her, no better conditions for her to get a nat 20. And I liked the shock & awe in her face when she felt the force FLOWING through her as old man Obiwon would say. But yeah, like most (reasonable) complaints of Ahsoka, could have used a little more setup.

    *Loki* *S2E1* *Ouroboros*
Ke Huy Quan's Ouroboros or OB is a great addition. I thought this S2E1 would be confusing according to all these reviewers but it actually wasn't. It's really an episode that starts where S1E6 left off. And I just finished looping Loki S1 a 6th time or so right before S2 came on, so the end of S1 transitioned smoothly to S2.
Loki is actually my favorite series on Disney+ and maybe my favorite for any MCU project. I'm talking more enjoyable than any of the Avengers films and Captain America films. It's so rewatchable. I didn't mention this prior but I love all the gadgets they use. It's so retro circa 1970s. That's already a show in itself with all the items in the background.
Go back to the Time Variance Authority cartoon with Miss Minutes in the very first episode. Not only is it very informing, it has artwork from like the 1950s through 1980s. And Miss Minutes herself looks like she was drawn in the 1940s. I don't see the 1920s Felix the Cat inspiration but I do see the Mr. DNA from Jurassic Park.
That very first episode of Loki was strong, btw. Can instantly get you hooked. Loki got 10 years of character development in one episode after watching a video of him dying. Perhaps one of the strongest first episodes ever. The Boys S1E1 is right up there as well. That first episode was stronger than a lot of shows' season finales. I'll rank Loki S1 episodes like this: 4, 5, 1, 6, 2, 3. IMDb scores have it similar.
Then we got the music which is incredibly brilliant. It feels weird and kinda haunting. Gives you this retro vibe as well like late-70s to early-80s. Watching Flash Gordon (1980) and Tron (1982). And also very original Star Trek from the 60s. Office equipment that look straight out of Brazil (1985). But the color scheme is more like 1970s wardrobe. The little gadgets and computers they use looks so retro.
I only recently ordered a hat of the Andor logo from Aliexpress that arrives in two weeks because that's become my favorite Star Wars series but I really need to get some merch for Loki. Like get a TVA jacket that Loki wore in S1E2. Get a Miss Minutes clock. I know Grace Randolph got some good Loki merch two years ago that was sent to her for free.
It's weird because Iron Man is my favorite character by far but I personally don't love his individual films. I like them but I don't love them. My favorite MCU films are either Avengers or Captain America (the last 2). While Thor have the worst films but it's my favorite lore with more of my favorite characters like Loki, Thor, Hela, and Mobius. Loki and Thor: Ragnarok go 1-2 for me among all of MCU.
I prefer the Thor/Norse mythology. It's more interesting than the modern world Tony Stark lived in where it's just Earth. I loved seeing Asgard the first time I saw it in 2011. I like flying horses and the different weapons which aren't guns. I like sorcery. I like Valkyrie. I think Tessa acts fun in both Thor films she's in. Thor lore has more fascinating places to see. It's Game of Thrones meets Star Wars.
As I type this, Loki S2E1 finished so it looped back to playing S1E1. I love the DB Cooper reference. How Loki was him. Even the weakest episode, S1E3 Lamentis, it's really not that bad. It didn't move the story and it's still my least fav, but it doesn't ruin my experience. And there are scenes from it I still enjoyed.
It's a really great series. And Loki has become my favorite character post-Endgame with Tony gone. Loki is relatable to me. Loki is a lonely, born loser. Same here. I'm always losing and I'm alone although by choice. So I root for him. Loki is an underdog. And Tom Hiddleston has this endearing quality to his Loki.
Loki is like Beavis and Butt-Head but 10x smarter. You want them to succeed but they never do. It's always by fate or maybe bad luck they lose. With B&B, they're just stupid. Their stupidity always sets them back to square one. Tom Hiddleston getting his Midnight in Paris (2011) co-star was a perfect addition. And that film also dealt with time travel.
Loki S1E4 with the Lady Sif time loop was hilarious and brilliant. Was also bittersweet. Lady Sif only echoed the loneliness Loki will have. Best scene ever with Lady Sif. Jaimie Alexander deserved better than what she got in Love and Thunder although I still LOL from her parody-like reply about not making Valhalla with her arm cut off: "Oh, shit!" So Monty Python/Naked Gun/Hot Shots!..
Rewatching S1E5 and listening to Richard E. Grant's Classic Loki saying he started missing his brother made me think this 2012 Loki will end up reuniting with present Thor and his new daughter (Chris H's real life daughter). I think it will be very sweet if we watch Thor and Loki reunite in Loki's series finale. I know Chris H and Tom H love working together and remain very close friends.
Loki S2E1 moved so much faster than the first two episodes of Ahsoka. Things were happening right away. And it was 45 minutes long. We weren't getting 35 minutes when some Ahsoka episodes deserved to be at least 10 minutes longer. I laughed at least 6 times to things OB said or did within 15 minutes that I never did for Ahsoka's entire run.
OB in R&A is Best Buy's Geek Squad but in the basement of the basement of the TVA building. OB isn't even aware what hell is going on up there. The convo with Loki talking to past OB while Mobius is talking to present OB was clever and hilarious like the Lady Sif scene. Thank you, Ke. You gave us a new fan favorite next to Owen's Mobius.
"Yeah. I'm having trouble reconciling that."
    [he repeats it]
    "Four hundred years."
"Believe it or not, he was my last visitor."
"Ouroboros. Um, may I call you OB?"
    "OB? I like that."
"Okay, you've got about an hour."
[looks back to see something crack the window]
    "You've got about 5 minutes."
    "Is this cracked?"
[applies tape over the cracked glass]
    "You're good."
"OB! Get ready to see some hoofin' like you've never seen before!"
    "Okay." [then walks away]
I just realized Ke Huy Quan said *wow* four times to Owen Wilson in the R&A. 😂 That's also the first word he ever said in Temple of Doom. "Wow! Holy smoke! Crash landing!" He said wow to Mr. Wow four times. Will Owen say it?
Ke is funnier as OB than he was as Short Round and Data. I was worried for S2 because Michael Waldron (of Rick & Morty fame) didn't write it although he's still there to oversee it. I thought maybe they go to a different direction and Loki S2 loses the charm of S1. Nope. S2E1 showed it still got it.
Loki scenes happens a lot in those TVA offices. Think Mad Men/The Office meets Bill & Ted. And it's all retro and weird but very interesting. It's world building in that building. Waldron applied great ground rules for the TVA like no superpowers can be used in it. Tesseract sounds dumb according to Casey who also doesn't know what a fish is. Infinity Stones are useless there.
TVA operates by its own rules where the outside rules of it won't apply. It can be 400 years and no aging. TVA building is the quiet star of the show but people can still transport to different years and places quicker than a Bill & Ted phone booth. I've seen Loki enough times that the TVA building is it's own character itself. It's similar to LOST with that island. The location can be a character.
I'm into movies like Back to the Future, Bill & Ted, and Hot Tub Machine, so I love all the time traveling and weird stuff like how TVA still uses outdated computers. I guess TVA is supposed to look and feel timeless. You're not supposed to pinpoint an era. That's why you see computers that looks like it has MS-DOS, outdated printers, typewriters in the end credits, and handhelds with orange LED lights like a gaming device in the 1970s.
Great series. Great visuals, great music, fun characters, great quotes, great world building happening a lot in the TVA offices, and highly rewatchable. Loki will not save MCU. Not one project will. We need a consistent body of work from Disney if they want to regain our trust. But at least we get over a month talking about arguably the best thing MCU has ever made. You got something to talk about for another five weeks, UA-camrs.
    Disney+ MCU and Star Wars
    1. Loki
    2. Andor
    3. The Mandalorian
That's the only three I enjoy rewatching even with Mando S3 being disappointing. I still like WandaVision but it hasn't aged as well if it's just therapy for Wanda. Very unique but not great world building or a great cast of characters I love. I still like WandaVision more than Ahsoka, Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Book of Boba Fett, and every MCU series not named Loki.
    Favorite Loki Characters
    1. Loki Laufeyson
    2. Mobius M. Mobius (M stands for Mobius)
    3. Ouroboros aka OB
    4. Classic Loki
    5. Miss Minutes
    6. Kang aka He Who Remains
    7. Ravonna Renslayer
    8. Casey
    9. Sylvie
    10. Hunter B-15
Apologies to Boastful Loki, Kid Loki, and Alligator Loki for not making my top 10. I can switch around Loki, Mobius, and OB as my No. 1 favorite. All three characters are better than every Ahsoka character not named Baylan Skoll.
    For all time. Always.

I believe that she had her true potential w/ her force powers literally blocked because of her past trauma and the unresolved Ezra situation, when she finally found Ezra it vanished. Ahsoka had her reasons for choosing her as a aprentice in the first place she sensed her potential, I'm glad that's resolved and she can move forward as a Jedi Padawan.

I always liked Sabine (actually, I like ALL the Rebels characters), so naturally I like seeing her have a more prominent place in the story. And, of course, Ahsoka will need a padawan eventually. Who else would make better sense? Hera is more of an equal, Ezra already had Kanaan, and Zeb is… well, Zeb. The logical evolution is for Ezra to take on Jacen, the son of his master, similar to the evolution of Obi-Wan taking on Anakin-as requested by his master, Qui-Gon. It’s cyclical. I have to admit though, I always wanted to see Ezra get together with Sabine. It makes no sense that he wouldn’t have any feelings for her. Their eventual relationship makes the most sense, with an added benefit that any children they have would more than likely be extremely force-sensitive. Besides, it’s Disney, it’s Star Wars. There’s supposed to be a fairy-tale ending!

Both Sabine and Ashoka basically cut her off from the force when she was headed towards a dark path, after her whole world and family was destroyed. Cut her some slack. Just because we never saw her use the force before, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. The force push we saw was the max extent of her current power level until she has more training. She only just reconnected herself to the force.

My only issue with the show is they made Sabine’s force abilities stronger then Ezra’s, now I know Ezra was never meant to be crazy powerful like Luke or Anakin or even Ahsoka but he should still be more powerful then Sabine. They showed several times in the last two episodes that Ezra would do a massive two handed push and stormtroopers would pretty much just fall over or stumble backwards. But then they show Sabine and she’s able to send Ezra flying to the star destroyer or casually flick her hand and send three stormtroopers flying. For a show that was getting some criticism for not having many male characters I just think it’s a bad look. I didn’t think they’d purposefully left out guys from the show I thought that’s just how it turned out you know with Kanan dead Ezra missing and Zeb being to expensive to have as a regular character. But I’m just not sure what to think of Ezra’s treatment in the fight scenes.

    *Thor:* *Ragnarok* *(2017)*
So I was rewatching Thor: Ragnarok the other night. I've seen it so many times. The most for any MCU film. I don't believe it's better than Infinity War but it's my personal favorite. I just wanted to rewatch what a badass Cate Blanchett's Hela was. Yup, confirmed badass. And thank you, Zoë Bell. Love ya, girl!
People say Hela was only powerful when she was in Asgard. I don't know about that. Didn't she crush Mjölnir with one hand in Norway? She originally wielded it before Thor being Odin's eldest child. And before Loki/Thor Bifrosted out of Earth, Hela took Loki and Thor out of that portal. I'm pretty sure Hela isn't only powerful in Asgard if she can toss Loki and Thor with only one hand before entering Asgard.
I'm sorry, Anakin/Vader fans. Odin's firstborn is slaying Star Wars' Chosen One easily even if it's Anakin's most powerful version. For Hela to be beaten, the prophecy of Ragnarok had to happen from Surtur with the Eternal Flame. A realm/planet needed to be destroyed to kill her!
If I rewatch something I've seen multiple times, I may only have the attention span of 15 minutes for it. It's from UA-cam ADHD. I usually get sleepy watching something from a phone. But with Ragnarok the other night, I watched it for a good 30-40 minutes. I forgot how awesome Jeff Goldblum was in it as the Grand Master. Love hearing the Willy Wonka music before Thor meets him.
Iron Man is by far my favorite MCU character ever but Thor's/Norse lore is way more interesting. More interesting characters. More interesting places to see. Waititi added heavy metal music like Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, and Dio to Thor which is perfect because Thor looks like a headbanger to metal. It's ironic because 3 out of the 4 Thor movies aren't considered good. It's usually ranked Thor 3>>1>4>2.
    This leads to....
    *Loki* *(2021-Present)*
Now here's arguably the best series on Disney+. Fun, wild, and bizarre. But instead of talking about Norse lore and godkillers like what Thor brought, they're world building Loki's lore with bizarre time travel/multiverse stories. Where TVA rules doesn't apply to any rules outside of it.
I love time travel movies like Back to the Future Trilogy, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, and Hot Time Machine. I love TV episodes dealing with it. Comedy usually ensues like Marty McFly's mom having the hots for him in 1955.
Futurama S3E19 Roswell That Ends Well: Fry ends up in 1947 and having sex with his grandmother and becoming his own grandfather.
LOST S4E4 The Constant: Desmond Hume time traveling back with his mind which X-Men: Days of Future Past copied from. One of the best episodes of LOST and one of the best in TV history.
Future Man S1E10 Operation: Natal Attraction. Josh Futturman (Future Man) hooking up unknowningly with his mom (Diane) in the past.
Bill & Ted Face the Music: Deacon (Ted's younger brother) ended up marrying his stepmom, Missy. She was only recently married to Ted and Deacon's dad after being married to Bill's dad.
Why does time travel stories usually end up with some kind of incest?
In Loki S2E1 Ouroboros, we see Loki time slipping back talking with past OB. Then Mobius is talking with present OB. Then you see the present OB grabbing the Temporal Aura Extractor device right next to him because Loki told him to make one! It's time travel hilarity like that which makes me love the Loki series so much.
We need to thank Michael Waldron (of Rick & Morty) for creating such a great foundation for Loki S1. Applied great ground rules for the TVA. He's a way better writer than Dave Filoni. He deals with more complicated things like time travel and multiverse and Loki is still more replayable than anything Filoni ever did.
I was worried before Loki S2 because Waldron no longer wrote the episodes. I was pleasantly surprised that S2E1 still maintained the Loki charm from S1. Now I wasn't happy with Waldron's Multiverse of Madness but I'm still hopeful for Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. Waldron might be the one writer who can save MCU.
I've heard from Sean Chandler that he and his wife loves this show, Heels, on Starz and Waldron wrote that too. And Sean and his wife are not into wrestling and they're enjoying it. If I can only keep two things from MCU, it's Loki and Thor: Ragnarok. You can have all the Avengers and Captain America films. I want to only keep Loki and Thor: Ragnarok and watch them over and over again.
I would laugh if Baylan ends up The Son knowing how much older Ray Stevenson looked over Hayden. The guy with the greying beard happens to be The Son to Hayden's The Father? And why should Anakin be The Father when Anakin is a deadbeat one to his kids? He choked his wife where a broken heart led to her death. He tortured his daughter and cut off his son's hand and all he wants to do is appear and look out for Ahsoka?
Anakin Skywalker: Worse father and husband than Tony Stark, Indiana Jones, Han Solo, and Daemon Targaryen.

I think that Peridia may have a strong connection to the Force, since the Mortis gods also seem to have some connection there. This and the fact that Sabine finally found access to the Force because she underwent an internal change, including in her relationship with Ahsoka, probably contributed to the fact that she was finally able to use the Force. That she was fighting for her life was probably the triggering factor.

I think the planet is very force sensitive. If you have effigies to the Mortis Gods, there is something there. Think about Ezra, his Master (Kanan/Caleb)was a Padawan when Order 66 hit, so he had a very limited amount of training. Kanan/Caleb then took on Ezra as a padawan. So you have a Master with a very limited knowledge of the force teaching someone who started much older than most padawans do. Ezra was able to advance his use of the Force over his exile time. Sabine may have felt a change in the force arriving at that planet. You add to that the clouding of her mind over Ezra now being cleared, you have a perfect storm to open her to the Force.

I said this on another page, but when Yoda talks to Luke in the Empire Strikes Back about lifting an X-Wing being no different than lifting a stone, and that the difference is only in your mind, which is the premise for the famous "You must unlearn what you have learned," it provides the cannonical basis for exactly what happens with Sabine in episode 8 of Ahsoka. If people don't like that this happened, maybe they need to acknowledge that their issue is with the whole of Star Wars lore, and its general premise as a franchise, and not really having anything to do with Sabine Wren specifically.

When Tony Stark died to save an entire universe, there is a deleted scene of him with his daughter when she already got older. Iron Man had his own WBW moment. See? That's nice of him. Anakin appeared in four different forms in Ahsoka. WBW, flashback, hologram, and as a Force ghost. He only appears to Ahsoka.
Wouldn't it be nice to check on his kids? Nah. No apologies to Leia for torturing her and putting her boyfriend in frozen carbonite. No apologies for cutting his son's hand. BTW, when your mom died, that's on me! But let's keep appearing to this chick he only trained for less than 3 years because why not? Can make SW cartoon fans happy.

It seems to be in the Star Wars storytelling establishment that, once a character realizes that they are open to the Force, it comes to them all at once. Luke had never even heard of the Force and then 48 hours later he's using it to guide torpedoes into the Death Star's exhaust port; Ezra learned he had Force potential and within a couple episodes in Rebels we see him and Kanan both using Force Push/Force Pull to surmount obstacles; Rey was informed by Kylo that she had Force powers and after he mind-probed her, it seemed to unlock everything, and then later she was able to hold her own against (a very wounded) Kylo.
In fact, the funny thing about Sabine is of all the Force-imbued characters, she is the only one we've been told has undergone years of training, whereas everyone else we've seen picked it up relatively easy and quickly. It seems she didn't believe in her own abilities until, under stress, she picked up the lightsaber, and suddenly she had that "aha" moment the other characters had, and like them, it came to her all at once and she was able to --torpedo the Death Star-- --stand up to a wounded Sith Knight-- use Force Push like Ezra and Kanan did early on.

I don't really see why Filoni felt the need to give Sabine force powers. This is the kind of thing where I wonder if Disney execs interfered with the story. It just does not make any sense based on her character from Rebels. This series was all over the place. It had some of the best Star Wars moments in a long time but it also had some weird /awkward character development. Mando season 3 felt like this too. It felt like for whatever reason. They just threw out a lot of Character development for Din they had built up too in previous seasons.

The Force Grab in the nick of time before being dealt a killing blow during the final lightsaber battle was the "life or death" situation. I was genuinely excited in this moment. But to have made the subsequent greater acts such as the combining of powers to hold a landing bay door open during Ahsoka's ship escape and the force push of Ezra believable and acceptable, they would have done good to make the cup twitch just ever so slightly when Sabine attempted to move it across the table back in Episode 3. Ahsoka herself counseled: "it doesn't work like that" in that very episode when Sabine griped about the urgency of the situation expediting the progress of her training. But they just ignored that explanation and cheapened her whole progression arc in the final episode, which in essence just became a "Sabine is now the bestest eh-var" situation.

  • @josepineda7987
    @josepineda7987 Рік тому

Ahsoka tells Sabine to train her body and train her mind, but to trust the force. I think the lightsaber grab is a moment where Sabine understood what "trusting the force" meant. When it came time to push Ezra she simply had no doubt she could do it, understood how to trust the force to support her, and did it. I don't think everyone's progression has to be the same. For some there might be a slow acceptance of how to trust the force, for others is can be a "click" that suddenly makes sense. Also Ahsoka connecting to Sabine through the force in Episode 7 is yet another moment that begins to give Sabine clarity. I think Sabine is savvy enough that once something makes sense to her, she is easily able to master it. I am pretty damn excited to watch Sabine improve her force skills. It would have be awesome to see Tarre Visla in action, and it is just exciting to think we will get to witness a fully trained and force sensitive Mandolorian in action.

And of course Grogu was naturally stronger in the force than Sabine. There's a weird dichotomy there.

ThatStarWarsGirl pointed out too many flaws to Ahsoka S1 finale including why didn't Thrawn destroy the Datomiri fortress hours before Ahsoka arrived? Why not have Chimaera lock in with the Eye of Sion above the atmosphere?
Why the lax security from Thrawn's Chimaera? He didn't notice Ezra escaping with a stolen ship? Then more lax security when Ezra arrived where Hera was. It's an Imperial ship wearing Imperial gear. Just let him through!!
Episode 8 made Thrawn look like a complete fool. Chimaera missing every single shot aimed at 3 characters riding on Howlers. Keep rewatching it. It doesn't get better. You're going to count too many "convenient writing" moments that makes the characters look dumb.
Thrawn is a genius strategist/tactician at getting his own men killed because he can't stop 3 characters from entering a gate he should've closed shut hours ago. And it's only when Ahsoka got closer is when the gate started to close. How convenient for the heroes.
I guess writers had to make Thrawn dumb to have Ahsoka and Co. something to do. Thrawn can only be as smart as the writers who writes this for him. And right now, he isn't. Never really a step ahead. Gave the heroes too many opportunities.
Sabine crashing the ship and then Huyang fixing it so quickly is another issue I had with it. Dave Failoni can't write. Ahsoka should've stayed a cartoon.

We may find that it was a focused emotional response like adrenaline which enables people to accomplish extraordinary acts in a momentary dire situation. I really like the idea of Wabine meeting Grogu and have a lot of thoughts on the two of them. U’ll share some here if anyone cares to read them. I think it’s interesting to compare the two since they started from opposite sides of the training and did it for different reasons. Sabine was aMandalorian by birth and trained as such. She willingly took on the training required to become a jedi despite her lower force potential at first for revenge, then ultimately to protect the galaxy from the remnant and presumably help with the fight against the imps with Ezra being gone. She is more balanced between the two than Grogu, though obviously in terms of combat she leans towards her Mando training. Grogu on the other hand started out as a jedi, and a pretty powerful one at that before choosing to go back to Din. But let’s not forget that he only went with Luke because Din told him to and he probably thought getting more training was the best way to protect both himself and him. But he went back at the firsy opportunity and chose to become a Mandalorian apprentice. But as of now he’s really only a Mandalorian in name and maybe some of his values like protecting family. But he still exclusively uses the force and has very liyttle Mandalorian training. My point is I think they’ll end up being different types of Mandalorian jedi. Maybe they’ll be able to help each other.

It feels like a fine extension of The Last Jedi's themes, where we explored the possibilities of Force users/Force-sensitive people who were not associated with a Sith or Jedi sect. I have also been hearing Qui-Gon's voice in my head describing Anakin's piloting skills: how he was clued in to Anakin being Force-sensitive because it appeared he could see what was going to be an obstacle or a threat before it was even there. When I think of Sabine's fighting and pilot skills, I gotta ask myself, "Why NOT Sabine?" As for Force push abilities, I think I saw more of that performed in Rebels than in any other part of the franchise, so could she have been practicing that on her own without having a live person to assist? She was at least aware of it. If she had pulled out Force healing, then I may have asked, "Where the heck did she learn that?" but Force push? She's totally seen it. A lot. I buy it.

One thought about your point regarding Sabine's apparent failures using the Force in the early episodes of the series. Did it look to you like they were teasing us on that? It felt like the objects she was trying to move would start to move, but then we would immediately be provided with a different explanation as to why (e.g., No, Sabine didn't move that. The whole place is shaking, see?). I'm not sure, of course, but I felt unsure about whether I was watching a fail or an interruption. Perhaps they will clarify that in the storytelling later on, or it will just be nebulous, but I do wonder.

Something about letting go is always the tipping point for force users. They submit to the will of the force, and in turn, the force obeys their will.
If the little boy can levitate his broom totally untrained in The Last Jedi, then Sabine could eventually get to level 1 push and pull.
She would need to be in the moment, as a Mando she might actually be most zen when in combat. They made it make sense in the best way possible.

In my opinion, the Force push works. I look at it from the perspective of performing a difficult task. When the task is first presented to you, it might seem impossible, and indeed you may not be able to do it at first. However, once you have successfully done it once, it's easier to repeat it or to apply your knowledge of how you completed that task in order to complete similar tasks. In other words, Sabine wasn't able to move the cup of caff using the Force while she was practicing, but later in the heat of combat she was able to figure out how to tap into the Force in a way that allowed her to move a physical object: her lightsaber. After doing that, she had the practical knowledge of what she had to do in order to connect to the Force in a way that let her move something, so she was able to do it again when it was needed. If we hadn't gotten the scene of her moving the lightsaber, then I would have trouble with the idea of her Force pushing Ezra, but because we DID get that earlier scene, I can view this as nothing more than an expansion of something she had already figured out how to do.

    LUKE: I don't believe it.
YODA: That is why you failed.
How much someone can do with the Force depends more on what they believe they can do than what they have done in the past. Sabine believe she could Force push Ezra, so she did.

From. My perspective I see it like this.
We know she developed advanced weapons systems as a kid, that kind of advance engineering ability is a sign of sensitivity.
She spent a great deal of time with Kanan, Ezra and Ahsoka including training.
Ahsoka said she was training her, that implies active participation imo.
When her family was killed that sent Sabine into a downward spiral, it's implied that this affected her ability to connect with the force.
The only We don't know yet is the extent of the training under Ahsoka previously.

Honestly I don't really like that she's force sensitive but looking at the rebels episodes it kinda make sense.
Just the way it's executed was not done well. The grabbing light saber should of been she was able to make it move a bit but ultimately Ezra pushed the saber to her.
Then at the super jump. The dialogue needs to be changed. Instead Ezra should of said Sabine I trust you, u can do it. And Sabine finally trusts in the force and pushes Ezra. That would of made more sense. Ezra putting his life in her hands and trusts her fully.

I agree. The force grab was enough. I felt that since, throughout the show, she was unsure if she could effectively weild the force, it was kinda of a foreshadow that she would be able to when truly needed to. With that said, I felt that they should have showed her trying a couple extra times in the course of several episodes and I also feel that it would have been more unexpected if instead of being choked up off the ground, she was attacked laying on the ground with the light saber just beyond her arm reach, and then she would be expectedly force grab it. Similar to Luke in ESB.
I did not care for the force push. Suddenly having the confidence and ability to perform a force push, kind of lowered the whole idea of weilding the force. They really needed to rethink that scene and do something else.

The big question should be "Why is there so much scepticism around everything Star Wars does?"
I understand many people are extremely critical after some movies have not rated well... But the story was always missing so many attributes to the past.
I think this was a great show.
I also think it can be a huge off shoot to show Sabines training and all of what is on and in a foreign planetary system.
I never thought I would enjoy Star Wars of new (Empire strikes back was always my favourite movie). But Rogue One topped and exceeded my expectations.
I really enjoy having the gaps in the characters filled

I think its fine because Dave has been building this story up since Rebels. She didn't create Force Push, she saw Kanan and Ezra do it many times and she tried it. Dave Filoni put the line about her powers being such that she could be dangerous in there for a reason. She has real force talent. If the man (Filoni) says it's so, then it is so. That's all I need.

I think it may come down to how they proceed with her force powers. If they are dramatically scaled back at the start of Season 2, I will be much more willing to accept all this. But if she 'broke through' that barrier and just retains all this ability... that will most definitely be too much. The conversation needs to be, "I did this," and then Ahsoka being like, "But can you do it again, on command, with control?" Presumably the answer to this question ought to be a resounding "No."

I'd have preferred it if Ezra had done it himself and just tapped into her to help him, kind of like how Ahsoka had Ezra and Kanan give her a... Uh... psychic force boost (yeah, that wording works) when she discovered Vader was Anakin in Rebels. I'd have preferred that for the force push, but it's not really a big deal. Loved it overall.

sabine could have done all this years ago. what held her back was a) lack of self-belief, and b) ahsoka's obstacles out of fear of what she might become. we know sabine had been shifting her self-belief, and we know ahsoka released sabine - 'gave her permission' through an expression of trust. that's all she needed. that and the catalyst of a life-or-death moment... and once she grabbed that lightsaber, all the barriers crumbled. I think we will see sabine become vastly more in short order.

So, to me, her force push not only tracks, but it reinforces the teachings of Yoda. The lightsaber grab was her moment learning how to connect with the force. It was life or death, and she successfully made that connection. Once thst connection is made, it's made. When she used the force push on Ezra, it's not the first time she'd seen it done, by Ezra and Kanan. In fact she herself was almost force pushed off of a cliff using the same technique. So when she performs it on Ezra, it too was a life or death situation. Unlike Luke on Degobah with his X-wing, she DID believe she could. That is why she DIDN'T fail. She didn't try...she did.

I would've liked to see that scene sell it better. For example: Sabine struggles and grabs the lightsaber using the Force. THEN she Force pushes a Stormtrooper, showing, under pressure, she is forced to gain mastery over her power, and then she Force pushes Ezra.
Also, I see Midechloreans like height for getting drafted in the NBA. You are VERY likely to make it play pro basketball just by height alone. But there has been players like Muggsy Bogues and Jeremy Lin. So with Jedi, you have your Anakins and Yodas. But you also got your Sabines.... and maybe we'll see a few other in the future.

So you’re telling me Dave Filoni and George Lucas are idiots that don’t understand Star Wars? lmao Interesting how they literally wrote it.. why on earth would you be surprised that a warrior that’s been training her entire life, having MULTIPLE Jedi/force trained teachers, had potential in the force. It’s nothing but entitlement. But it was perfectly acceptable for Luke, who worked on a desert planet his whole life without even really knowing the force exists… ohhhhkayyy 😂 I appreciate your channel so much and the way you choose to approach info with as little bias as possible 👏👏👏

^^ All of this! What type of nonsense and arrogance is that? If you don't agree with something cool, but do not act like you know more than the creator and his apprentice about their own franchise. It is why we can't have nice things. With Sabine using the Force, it was surprising to see sure but not surprising in retrospect. I felt like there were strong hints to it since she trained to wield the Darksaber and it was only a matter of time. Luke used the Force to get missiles into a reactor shaft (a one in a million shot) after training for maybe a few hours with an old man he barely knew who was then killed. Either way, Meg does a good job at not bandwagoning or anything like that.

People complained about Rey basically using a gameshark/console commands to get the Force, and yet they still complain when we get the opposite with a character that has struggled with it for an entire season. I don't think there will ever be a unified moment in the SW fandom.
Though her being so confident about using the Push did bring me out of it a little. There were little hints in her choreography leading up to the Pull reveal though, she started being able to block shots with the saber a lot better and relied less on tanking hits with the Beskar than she had in previous fights.

I think you cannot underestimate the value (or the power) of the connection between these characters. That’s the core irony here, a deep love flows between both Sabine and Ezra and between Sabine and Ahsoka. It’s an all powerful and all encompassing connection that takes in all of time and space. It’s what Yoda and the Jedi Council utterly failed to understand about the Force. The Force rewards such connection, it yearns for all beings to reach out and apprehend the true nature of the Force. That’s what allowed Sabine to manifest as she did, in extremis - she just let go and the power of that connectedness could then flow through her. It manifested again, when Sabine chooses to remain with Ahsoka. Sabine was standing (in the power of her connection to Ezra and Ahsoka) in the center of the will of the Force.

I think it'd be neat if some quality of the Dark Saber helps its wielder grow closer to the living Force, and all this time no one, except probably Tar Visla himself, has actually known this. And, of course, how much it helps could very well depend on any natural ability possessed by the Saber's user, as well as their personality and natural disposition.
For instance, Maul got pretty bad-assed around the time he possessed the Dark Saber, and he rarely used it. Sabina herself made great strides with it with help from Kanan, and Bo Katan was no slouch with it either.
What a cruel joke on Moff Gideon it would be, because he yearned for Force abilities so much that he cloned himself. He'd be pissed to learn that he had a key to further harnessing the Force in the palm of his hand the whole time and didn't know.
And poor Din Djarin is basically Force-clueless, and was glad to be rid of it, but its mere presence and close proximity might have quietly been helping Grogu reconnect with the Force after nearly half a century of shutting it out due to the trauma of Order 66.
It's all a nice possibility to think about, anyway. Perhaps Bo Katan will examine whatever unique piece of Kyber that was in the Dark Saber and learn that its Force-assisting qualities were what allowed Tar Visla to become the first Mandalorian Jedi in the first place.
The possibilities with such a plot thread are many. 😁👍🗡️

I think the scene was supposed to show her new confidence in herself, EZRA's confidence in HER.
It IS a different galaxy where things are weird, and there ARE a lot fewer force users. And Filoni is on a path to anthropomorphize the Force ,for better or worse, and fast-tracking Sabine's abilities may just be part of a larger story about the Force itself imbuing more and more people more and more quickly with abilities in or to -- wait for it -- bring balance after the calamities of the Empire/Sith and whatever may have happened in the galaxy they're in in Ep 8.
Something YOU posted, Meg, that added a LOT more substance to Sabine being a bonafide Force user was a clip from Rebels: when the Ghost was trapped underground on Geonosis (S03E13, Ghosts of Geonosis, Part 2) and troopers with jetpacks come down that shaft to attack, Sabine goes up and wipes them all out practically single-handed. Either Kanan or Ezra makes a comment about the troopers not knowing what was about to hit them. And she handles them better than any Jedi could have. That was more than just a mandalorian being handy with a jetpack.

I'm one who didn't like Sabine's newfound ability. She trained with Kanen & Ezra. There was no block then. Ezra was right there, not lost. It's like Dave is saying she doesn't measure up, she's of no real value if she's NOT A JEDI! I loved that idea of Sabine just being a highly skilled, well trained Mandolorian. Her skills allowed her to use the Dark Saber. She didst need to belong to the rather exclusive Club which was the Jedi. I wanted her to be accepted just as she was, not forced to become someone else to be accepted!

Does anybody else wonder if she was able to use The Force because she was on Peridea? Like, perhaps, it wasn't really just The Force, but maybe somehow she was able to key into the mysterious "Magic" on the planet that made The Sisters and The Mother so powerful? I agree that it was a little Forced (see what I did there? 😆) and I'm hoping that I'm right... I feel like in The Sequel Trilogy and some of the more recent Disney+ shows, it's just getting too easy to use The Force. Like, just achieving clarity is all you need. There have been people that have lifted cars, heavy fallen objects off of loved ones that an ordinary person should not be able to do. Even Kanan said she was blocked.
