I don't have a problem. Though, it's her relationship with Ezra that's been on my mind more than Sabine tapping to the force. Considering her actions to find him, I could agrue she'd develop strong romantic feelings for him and it makes her rash descisions to find him even more understandable. Perpashps she felt guilt over not returing Ezra's attraction to her in Rebels, realzing she is mutually feeling those same emtoions when she realized Ezra saw her more than just some hot girl he wants to date, but a person, someone who'd treat her well and enough to be equal raher eitheir a subbornite wife or a timid husband. That's a compelling relationship and we saw great glimpses of how it could turn out and it really forcasted a healthy relationship. It brings to mind the relationship of Fry and Leela from Futurama, a comdey yes, but the chemisrty between the two was both heartwarming and emotional as well being something the audience takes seriously and even feel for. I'm much more invested on that arc than even Baylon's arc, cause of the history those two share and the build up shown in Ahsoka.

My take was that Sabine handled the training and warrior aspects of being a Jedi, but she was blocked from truly accepting the force. I chalked it up to the fact that she trusted her abilities and it was tough for her to let go and trust something else. That is why when she finally let the force in, it was going to be like turning on a faucet. Luke was the last Jedi from a certain point of view. Ahsoka had left the order, Sabine and Ezra were trained by people who hadn’t completed their Jedi training and others could have been cut off from the force or hiding where yoda couldn’t sense them.

Good analysis. I'd say Sabine's ability to use the Force is like a writer overcomint writer's block: a whole lot of frustrating nothing, then suddenly the writer's block is broken through and possibilities come flooding into existence. If she can pull a lightsaber, she can push a man. She believes it, and that's what matters.
Sabine's an artist, and I'm hoping that Season 2 will show her using the Force through her art. Maybe premonitions through spray-painting, or force illusions through perspective trickery...?

I honestly agree, it was rewatching Kanan train Sabine that made me accept that Sabine could use the force, but because of her background and mental state as a mandalorian, she closed herself off. So Kanan already sensing that Sabine keeps herself closed off of course would let him know that while she has a lot of potential, as a jedi he can't and won't force it out of her. It honestly just surprised me that she was able to help launch Ezra with this being her next force attempt after seeing how much of a struggle it was just to get the lightsaber. I am very interested because I know very little about mandalorians and how there was only one mandalorian jedi before it's going to be interesting to see how sabine being the second mandolorian jedi will turn out.

I agree with you whole heartedly. There were many hints throughout Rebels that I noticed since the Ahsoka trailers came out in July. As for Kanan not noticing or training her may be due to her being blocked and being very Mandalorian in their dogmatic views of the Force, not that Sabine is or was who can say before Rebels started. Kanan may not have had the time or luxury due the rebellion and he was still training Ezra. He can't take on another Padawan while still teaching Ezra. Plus he may not have picked up on it because it is not always easy to sense those who do especially with minor abilities as Sabine. Also on a side note I do feel that Sabine might be the key to Thrawn's undoing due to their interest in art and combat.

Also don’t forget the way the force worked, at least in Rebels. When it is needed most, it comes to someone. Ezra’s most powerful moments were when he was protecting his family, such as when he rose the giant beast in Season One. Sabine had the same experience of being more connected to the force in a time of need.

I got the impression that she finally shed her mandolorian sensibilities and connected to the force. Her roots are in being a warrior who attacks on the front foot, (which troubled both ahsoka and jarrus). The moment she starts to manipulate the force she is protecting herself and Ezra. This to me kinda sets her future role as an incorruptible force wielder despite the doubts harboured by her master!

I think Sabine's story is the inverse of the Old Republic's Jedi General Meetra Surik, from Kotor 2. Meetra was one of the strongest Jedi and fought valiantly beside Revan against the Mandalorian invasion of the Republic several thousand years before the Galactic Empire came along. During the war a great tragedy happened that Meetra was partly responsible for - at Revan's behest she used a superweapon to wipe out in an instant entire armies and fleets of both Mandalorian and the Republic. Thousands died in an instant and that broke Meetra, broke her so badly she severed her connection to the Force and spent the next several years in exile. After time goes on and she begins to travel with others, forming strong friendships and takes on a mentor of sorts, she reestablishes her connection to the Force to once again become a very powerful Jedi again.
Compare that now to Sabine, which is Meetra's story in reverse. When she was still a child (she's a genius) Sabine created a super weapon at the Imperial Academy, not knowing that the Empire had plans to use it on her own people - on Mandalorians. So she destroyed the machine, destroyed her research, destroyed a good chunk of the Academy and was exiled not just among Mandalorians but by her own family. She was essentially told: "You come back? We'll kill you." And Sabine couldn't have been more than ten or twelve at this point. During her exile though she would meet up with the Ghost crew from Rebels and find herself a new family, seeing Hera and Kanan as surrogate parents and later becoming very close with Ezra. Throughout all of this Sabine is Force Sensitive and we see hints of it throughout Rebels (Bendu, the Owls, Loth Wolves, Darksaber, etc) but she never shows any aptitude for it because - like Meetra - in order to survive she has cut herself off from others.
But just as she is starting to put her life back together and open up tragedy strikes again for her; she returns to Mandalore with the Darksaber to aid her people only to learn that the superweapon she had created as a child was rebuilt by the Empire and used - killing dozens of Mandalorians by incinerating them in their own armor. It's another kick to the face but she eventually rises up and redeems herself, destroying the superweapon and giving the Darksaber to Bo Katan. She splits her time between her surrogate space family (Ezra and the others) and tries to reconnect with her family on Mandalore - that is until the Rebels series finale where (once more) tragedy strikes. Within the span of the week, Kanan is killed and Ezra makes a sacrifice of his own to send both himself and Thrawn far far away with no way to learn of where he went nor if he would ever return.
So Sabine stays on Lothal, keeping a promise to Ezra to watch over his planet and (as pointed out in the video) later Ahsoka shows up to train her. And I suppose she was showing aptitude but - as we've seen numerous times again and again - tragedy strikes in the Night of a Thousand Tears. Mandalore is bombed and her entire clan and family are killed. Pile this on top of everything else that's happened and the girl (who is only in her early 20s by this point) and it all begins to take a toll on her. Ahsoka is her master but more than ever Sabine needs Ezra, who is stranded in an entirely another galaxy - though we did at one point see her hear his voice while she was sleeping, which just goes to show how strong their bond is. Given all the tragedy and recent loss of her family, Ahsoka makes the choice to stop training Sabine which while may have been the correct choice (Sabine is a Mando and she wants revenge) Sabine still sees this as just another person giving up on her, and at this point I don't see how anyone can fault her for thinking that.
Like Meetra she continues her exile up until the events of Ahsoka take place, when at long last we see her drop her walls and open herself up again when she is reunited with Ezra. And when his life is on the line (twice) she is able to access the Force and save him. She still has a lot of issues from her past to deal with, but she has at long last connected with the Force and all those years of trying and failing at her training have paid off. She may be stranded in an entirely different galaxy but she knows Ezra is okay and with Ahsoka by her side she is no longer alone.
I wish the Ahsoka series could have delved a bit more into her backstory and explained how some Force Sensitives can actually cut themselves off from the Force, but what's done is done. I think that Sabine's story is far from over but thankfully her days of being alone and cutting herself off from others has come to an end. Now it's time for her to heal.

  • @senatorchris3134
    @senatorchris3134 2 місяці тому

I said at the beginning of the series when it was revealed that Sabine had trained with Ahsoka previously, that if she unblocked her connection to the force, she would use it in a big way, and she did. Then I went and rewatched rebels and I found that there were quite a lot of times when Sabine displays abilities that showed she had a force ability without even knowing it. You have to understand Jedi and Mandalorian's are polar opposites so it goes that Sabine would have this psychological block to the force, then when Ahsoka connected with Sabine in episode 7 of Ahsoka and then Sabine trusting in the force more, giving herself over to it, she was able to access it easily once she had opened up to it.

We should not forget that there must be a Mandalorian Jedi - because the Darksaber was destroyed and only a new Jedi can make it. And only way to make a new Darksaber is knowledge by Huyang. But that does equate to potential in the force Ezra is more powerful in that regard. Good video though

From a story stand point.. now that they are all Jedi.. so what now? Having all the Rebel or MC characters being a Jedi were kinda redundant imo.. there should be a reason why she needs to become one.
Also kinda hate that Sabine didn't even break a sweat after using the force versus Grogu which is an established force sensitive.. well it is what it is..
I still like Sabine in Rebels which is just a badass Space Punk Mandalorian.. coz we know in all 4 seasons she can handle herself well without any force powers. Coz she doesn't need it imo.

Funnily enough, there is a precedent for this, of those without 'prior force training' but being able to tap into it. KOTOR- There were several individuals that would eventually rebuild the order and each of them were force sensitive, but due to the nature of what they went through, many closed those parts of them off, or didn't know how to properly take that next step. A lot of people giving this crap, I am honestly going to chalk it up to the SJW bullshit that much of Star Wars has become, so many likely have bad faith and scorn for it, but this? This has happened before. Atton Rand, Brianna, Mical, Mira, Bao-Dur, and Visas Marr. This isn't new and honestly? This felt more natural then most of the shit Disney has done.

Actually the series established Ashoka was training her long before the series starts. There is no time period mentioned on how long that training was.

Right! It’s never specified for sure but I think we can make a good guess on how long she was training!

Dude it's not our job to understand this stuff. Shouldn't have to deep dive into lore in order to enjoy a show on Disney+

That’s fair! and while I brought up stuff from rebels I tried to mainly focus on just what Ahsoka presented us. Its stated in ahsoka that she had some training with kanan and then she trained with ahsoka for a while. The show tells us where she got her lightsaber, it shows us her training, it shows us her failing repeatedly, it tells us that anyone can use the force it just takes dedication and training. All of this is established in ahsoka so I don’t think you need a deep dive to understand it all. But I agree I do think having an understanding of the lore probably does make for a better viewing experience!

you said maybe not perfect. lol. really... Obi-Wan and Ahsoka are garbage. take a look at Admiral Thrawn he looks like a clown, and he seems way more menace [in rebels] and more clever.
when my daughter watched Thrawn for the first time that
he appeared on this show, my daughter was like wtf.
    who wrote this sht
she told me that Thrawn looked more intimidating in rebels.
    from his point of view.
in this show, he is a laughable and foolish character
my daughter is 10 years old
and she loves stars war but no this garbage
    sorry
This TV series is an endless nonsense
bad writers, lazy script, and very predictable, and so on.

I definitely recognize the flaws these series have had but in my opinion they have still been good! Something we say on the podcast is that “Star Wars is like a restaurant, there’s something on the menu for everyone, but most people aren’t gonna like the whole menu” if that makes sense😅
I personally really liked Thrawn in Ahsoka, I think this series did a great job at showing his tactical genius. His goal was to load up their cargo and escape to the main Star Wars Galaxy without Ahsoka and the gang, while at the same time not expending too many of his limited resources, and besides Ezra he was able to pull off that plan perfectly.

You're in the minority there, sometimes when you bring a character from animation to live action it doesn't come across so well, but it's the same guy playing Thrawn so for me it works. Totally disagree with your last comment, there seems to be penchant for people to hyper critical these days, so to say it's garbage, nowhere near it.
