I 100%ed this game, here are some tips to help you not go insane: - your main 3 skills (that you should keep equipped at all times) are levitation, psi blast, and mental connection. mental connection gets used consistently in every level in the game. personally I tended to keep my fourth slot on telekinesis when I didn't need it for anything else (telekinesis is used frequently both in and out of combat and also throwing stuff is funny) - if, like me, you eventually decide that the combat is awful and you want it to die, there's an option in the settings (under accessibility) that like quarters the health of every enemy and it's the only way I'd recommend playing the late game - get the pin that makes psi blast deal more damage to censors. censors are the most common enemy type and they're the only enemy that doesn't have a weakness you can exploit for a quick kill, so turning psi blast into a "delete censor" button is very welcome - prioritize using intern credit to max the upgrades on psi blast and mental connection. psi blast max rank lets it take out multiple small enemies in one shot and mental connection max rank is mandatory for certain collectibles - if you want to have to grind the least for money, prioritize wallet upgrades first, then buy the mental tax pin (making mental connections gives cash) and the double money drop pins - when you get the projection power, there's a pin you can buy that muffles its voice lines - if you decide to go for 100%, wait until postgame. there are both mandatory and quality-of-life abilities that you only unlock past the point of no return
(I accidentally did my first playthrough in what I like to call 'unintentional hard mode' as I 1. Forgot the ability upgrade mechanic existed 2. Completely misunderstood what the half a brain did as I misread it as 'refills a whole brain of health' instead of 'adds a new brain', and thus didn't go out of my way to collect them so I had way fewer brains than I should've.)
One thing I like about psychonauts 2 in this regard is that it's very easy to platinum compared to other games, although at the end the game dosent have anything to help narrow down we're some last collectibles if you missed them. I had levitating, mental connection, psy blast, and pyrokinesis to burn objects for extra psytanium
My favorite part of this game is Augustus being a Good Dad. My man just wants to share something with his son, since Raz wasn't a huge fan of the circus.

I'm just now remembering-- I think part of the reason everyone is terrible to Raz is because there was SUPPOSED to be another power, "bottled emotions" which were supposed to let you hear the thoughts they weren't letting out, which included Dion's remorse for how he was treating Raz, and probably some other stuff. Still, really sucks that they removed that. they also removed the context for why Otto automatically takes a picture of Raz when he shows up in his underwear. 😬 The context is "He takes photographic memories when startled" but they removed the bit in the game where this gets explained, for some reason. So now Otto just seems SUPER SUS.

I understand the kids at camp being more cynical and mean because they well are kids and Raz is the new kid who invaded the camp and came across as a show off from the opening scene. It also works because Raz had a slightly meaner edge to him with talking back or setting animals on fire. But here he's with a bunch of teens who bully him and extremely passive aggressive adults who apparently have no patience for a 10 year even though he's one of the most mature kids and extremely capable. I get that they wanted that similar vibe but it doesn't work with the power imbalance and Raz only reacting by being sad. I get having his siblings having an attitude and maybe some of the interns but not majority of the characters so far. At least the campers had some redeeming qualities or fun stories. Well I do like Sam but she did allow the bullying to happen.
I completely agree, and I also feel like they just brush over the bullying from the interns in an annoying way. With Bobby, they actually sort of showed that he has some issues of his own he’s coping with, but they also didn’t really try to excuse his actions. In this one the bullying just kinda happens. They don’t give them sympathetic reasons, and they get away with it and are forgiven without consequences, and then things just move on
Yeah, I just didn't talk to the interns at all after that, so it was really jarring when they finally came back in the main story and suddenly Raz and them are buddies when the last meaningful interaction they had was stealing his clothes and locking him in a closet.

In my defense, the PSI Power wheel is really finicky. About 40% of the time when I bring it up it looks like I'm flicking back and forth over and over again and I swear to god I'm just holding the joystick completely still.

so, I’m not sure if jello’s fully moved to Canada (so healthcare access might be iffy… and even then, y’know, the whole doctor thing) but like, if you have blood in your pee, you REALLY should get that checked out I know that the testers said it was probably fine, but I’m pretty sure that’s one of the things that needs a checkup, even if it’s only a small amount/you don’t have other symptoms (again, overseas healthcare is a whole other beast - and I’m coming at this from an NHS angle - so it might be way less simple to get checked out, but it’s at least worth mentioning)
If it hasn’t been said in the comments; this game was probably designed with a demographic younger than jello in mind. “It’s just for kids” is not a valid excuse for bad content. And writing something, thinking you know the audience when you don’t, often leads to these kinds of weird-bad ideas. I remember “Gross out” was getting kinda big before covid, and body parts and physiology make for easy “problem-solution” writing to go with “problem-solution” gameplay aimed at children. Some liked him, most didn't care for him, and there were TWO (2) bullies. Sure, it's somewhat realistic that the whole class gangs up on the new kid, but it also makes me not care for these characters, unlike the ones from last game.

Actually, you can replace levitation with something else. In-game accessibility options allow you to use that power just by jumping.
