Hello, would it be a good first step to disconnect the brake cable connector? I saw a Lisle cable removertool on line for $16.00 that appears to take some of the misery out of the removal.
Sorry, it took me like 12 days to realize you might have been talking about the ratchet strap. I think the other side was hooked to the frame or front suspension.
Same thing just happened to me at has station. Brake light remained on, but I had to drive home and it rode like it wasn't engaged. Curious if yours did the same?
I’m attempting to replace mine this weekend, can’t wait!

Lisle 44220 Emergency Brake Cable Release Tool 14.5 x 4.75 x 1.38 inches
Looking at the removed part, what is broken? No way to fix the broken part?
Do you have the part number for the assembly?
❤️❤️❤️ love this!!!
That was rough! Enjoyed the music though 😊
Why not CUT the cable from the old assembly? The Ford dealer charges $890 for the work (part + labour). What tools are used?
Where is the slack adjustment on this system?
I think it’s in the actual brake assembly. I’m attempting to replace mine this weekend on my 08 Taurus, which uses the same assembly
thanks for posting! How long did the whole process take, or how long would it take, if you were not making a video at the same time?
Awesome video. Just wondering what was the ratchet side hooked on to? Thanks in advance.

Yes, I unplugged the switch until we got the new parking brake pedal.
@@jtandrews3 I can't get into the shop for a few days can you point me in the direction of the switch?
@@mic62982 It's on the pedal assembly, pretty visible once you get down there to look.
